Chapter 1:

Is EPGM about to get an anime!?

#New Chess Anime! En Passant Grandmaster gets anime adaptation!?

"We have a special announcement! En Passant Grandmaster is finally getting an anime adaptation, meaning there will finally be an anime primarily focused on chess."

Really?

"No, April Fools! Fuck you, Mario. Chess sucks, Isekai is where it's at."

And if I classified EPGM as an isekai?

"... Chess is still boring so no."

Let's play some chess then. I win, En Passant Grandmaster gets an anime and video game adaptation.

"You wish! Besides, this is an April Fools post anyway so nothing-

Yohane the Parhelion.

Lose and your dreams are crushed, win and there's a chance they'll come true. One chance though, no assist mode, no take-backs, no playing until you win, you only get ONE chance!"

Deal!

And thus, I played a match against the 1600-rated engine bot on Chess.com. No, that bot isn't the one that was doing the talking. Rather, it was just the level I selected to represent the metaphorical person that was talking with me. In the game, I played as white and well, see the results for yourself, and no, this game is not an April Fools joke. It was real, and I played it.

"You're not gonna write it all out?"

It's 76 moves! Plus I can't remember what I was thinking when I made all those moves!

"Fair point."

Now you can see why I always put assisted mode on when writing the games for EPGM. If I didn't, everything would look like 1000-elo brain cringe. But as messy as it was, I won. So who knows. Maybe there is a chance of this getting an anime and video game adaptation after all.
