First of all this reads like a diary or note which Rupert made during his visit in Atlantis; it’s spooky on its own because he wrote those things for his wife, Margie, but it looks like someone is recounting the story through Rupert’s perspective. This feels like something bad is gonna happen because it feels like foreshadowing, and at the end of the day it’s a horror short story. I liked the part where Rupert goes for the jaunt, and the explanation was pretty good; it sounded like a super fast escalator. Also, greenish blue fishermen, sounds…unsettling. Can’t forget the crimson cracks, red orbs, or eyes of Rigari(they’ve got so many names, I like it personally because it adds more flavor to the imagery) those sound suspicious and terrifying at the same time. Glad that bro got his lungs treated but sad that he didn’t get the belly trimming session, I mean, Marides gave a reasonable explanation. All in all, pretty good chapter. Like you wrote in your chapter ‘classical meets otherworldly’ and your chapter feels like that too; it feels like a classical short story with an otherworldly twist.
Quoting the line I liked: “The eyes of Rigari are surely watching over you.”
Either Rupert is gonna have an otherworldly journey of a lifetime, or he is cooked. Great work, Meg.
