Chapter 2:
I Want to be an Overpowered Big Brother Just to Protect My Protagonist Younger Brother!
“Welcome your younger brother, Null.”
“What’s his name?” I asked.
“Luran.”
“What a pretty name.” I replied as my dream seemed to fade.
…
Now, when being reincarnated, most people like me would be either shocked or devious, but I felt neither. Surprisingly, I was able to adapt pretty quickly. Thanks to the mediocre and rather bland memories of Null’s body, it felt natural to be there. I mean, if you had the memories of the body, no sense in being surprised. Of course, I happened to be in an uncomfortable position, being the elder brother of Luran Blackheart.
It felt natural being reincarnated as the evil elder brother, since it was cliche to the point of idiocy for me to feel any sort of fear or annoyance. Why would I? Tons of other people in books I’d read had done it just fine.
I think.Of course, there had to be some big problem to my reincarnation. That was, well, frankly, taking care of my brother. He was a literal ball of overpowered energy. Sometimes I’d have to chase him across the castle, running while he simply crawled. It was almost like the roles were reversed in a horror movie, the monster being too slow while the girl was giddily crawling away. Once, I was in my brother’s room, staring at him when Luran decided it was the perfect idea to kick the side of the crib, which broke. This had been the first incident, of many, I assure you, and the first time I got hurt in this body. A rather large splinter (about the size of a pencil, nasty little thing), got stuck in my hand. It was in decently deep, but I didn’t really feel anything but a weak tingling. I stared at if for a while, thinking I should feel at least nervous. I didn’t.So, I awkwardly lifted my baby brother with one arm and carried him to our parents.
“He broke the crib. Can you hold him for a little while?” I asked, and both of them looked annoyed, but took the baby anyway.
No asking of how he even did it, or if I was okay, or if I needed any help. Just disgusted stares.
How did Luran even grow up in a place like this? I wondered.
I went to a first aid kit that the servants used, and after plucking the thing out, cleaned the wound and rapped it- as well as I knew how from a short video I’d watched before transmigrating to this world. As I was returning, however, I found myself caught off guard by a flash of light outside a window. For a moment, I thought of going over to check. But, knowing my ‘parents’ probably wouldn’t be too thrilled about me taking any longer, I went to retrieve my little brother.
