Chapter 1:
StaRayz
Wandering in space, listening passively to the noise coming from the radio, a man in a red bomber jacket stares at a picture of him next to an older woman hanging on his rear view mirror. He glances over to the green-blue planet lined with swirls of white clouds before begrudgingly parking in front of the space station orbiting it.
[Welcome to the wonderful Anriruta. Please present your galactic identification card.]
"Hold up, I have it here somewhere."
Lou opens the glove box and presents his GID to the space station robot.
[Lou Sifr, your galactic identification card is expired. Please pay 500 credits to renew your galactic identification card.]
"How expired are we talking about?"
[1 rotation and 7 hours.]
"Oh c'mon, the other planet I went to rotates twice as slow as this dirt rock!"
[The rotation is based on the furthest planet of this system, which is Llolla 6X0.]
"That planet blew up AGES ago!"
[Llolla 6X0 is still the official cycle-planet of this current solar system despite its reduced planet mass.]
Lou glances at the dashboard to discover the low fuel signal blinking.
"Oh, even if I do pay for my GID, I'm afraid I don't have the gas to land on the planet safely."
[In that case, a tow ship will pick you up shortly-]
"Yes, yes, I'll pay for that."
[That will be 700 credits.]
"Oh, you gotta be kidding me!"
[200 for the service, 500 for the GID renewal.]
"Touche; counterargument."
Lou pulls out his phone and scrolls to the weather.
"Today's space forecast will involve a meteor shower across this station."
[That forecast isn't going to happen this rotation.]
"How long until the next rotation?"
[Touche; counterargument, as you put it.]
The space station closes down and flashes a warning to protect the planet from an incoming meteor shower, which prevents Lou from entering.
"Because I'm out of fuel, I'm stuck here waiting for the moment I explode from this meteor shower."
[The meteors are predicted to not hit you so long as you-]
Lou glides out of the Red 44 in his space suit and pulls out his revolver. Without responding, he fires a round, pushing him towards the space station with the recoil.
[Please move away from the space station.]
Gliding around the wall, Lou rips open a panel revealing the breaker and pulls the lever down, shutting down the system within. An armed guard leaves the space station with a tether to hunt down Lou. However, Lou pops up behind them from under the space station and blows off the anchor with his revolver, detaching the guard from the tether and pushing him awkwardly to the door of the station. He quickly closes the door, but the tether prevents it from closing completely. The guard desperately hangs on by the severed rope and tries to pull themself back to the station.
Lou follows the tether line until he finds the base and unravels it to delay the guard. Unfortunately, the rope doesn't extend beyond 15 meters, so he kicks the base in frustration. With no time to lose, Lou shoots the rope at the base, disconnecting it and pushing him back towards the door. As the rope whizzes past his face, the guard claws along the wall, climbing back through the doorway. As the guard pulls out their gun, the door knocks it out of their hand thanks to Lou sliding it, but not before grazing his chest.
Jumping off the window, Lou aims for the guard's head as they open the door. When the door reaches a stopping point, they lunge towards the gun, but by that point their head gets blown off, revealing circuits and wires inside the bullet shaped hole.
After cleaning up the area and tossing the corpse out, Lou re-enables artificial gravity and slouches on the floor. Counting the empty shells, he dumps them into his pocket and refills with new bullets. With a satisfying click, Lou notices a blinking light on the dashboard and opens up a camera feed.
