Chapter 17:
Sales Pitch
Pain. Nothing, but pain. That's all I could feel. Obviously, my are was hurting because there was a bullet lodged in it, but my heart was also aching too.
Why?
Why did Ivy shoot me with a real fucking gun? Weren't we friends?
It was then that the pain in my arm suddenly went away. Getting off the ground, I turned to notice Jeter standing besides me, pen in hand, as he shot Sylis the nastiest kind of death glare.
Hold on, that's it!
Ivy must have been manipulated. That means all this was just-
"Now behold, Jeter. Momo as well. The true backstory of one Ivy Rigu," Silas chuckled as he did a bow.
A clear projector-like screen appeared before us, with a video of Ivy storming into Machi's place. Machi along with Miércoles were all bandaged up like mummies, obviously still recovering from the beatdown they got for shaving Ivy bald, yet they at least look as though they're functioning alright.
"Hey, I've got something to ask about. I invaded your room, and after tripping and falling, I found all this shit," Miércoles scowled as she slammed bags of drugs and bullets on the counter.
Ivy's eyes narrowed. "And? You want in?"
"'In'!? Ivy, are you saying you're a drug dealer!?"
"Well no shit. How else you think I get so loaded? Honest work doesn't get you shit, but this? I could buy a colony on Mars with this kind of fortune."
"And that's where you're wrong. This is illegal, and the only thing it's going to get you is a one-way trip to prison," Machi glared.
"Not if I don't get busted, which has a zero percent chance of happening. Know why?"
"No I don't understand your delusion-"
"I'm above the law. Now, did you call me here thinking you could try to get me arrested, or do you want a high-paying job? Your options are either "Yes, I'll mule for ya" or "No, shoot me in the face". And I got a gun here loaded with bullets," Ivy stated as she leapt back to a safe distance.
Machi froze as Ivy pulled out her gun. There was too much distance between them, and with how good a shot Ivy was, there was no chance she could try charging her and expect to survive.
"So all we gotta do is sell that shit to some idiots? Sure, why not. Sounds like fun, especially if pops is covering it up," Miércoles shrugged.
"And you, Machi?"
Machi stared down the barrel of Ivy's gun. She could tell this wasn't her standard bibi gun and was ticking ever closer to killing her the longer she remained indecisive. While her sense of righteousness wanted to stand up to the heinous proposal, her survival instincts kicked in and she agreed to join.
"Just tell me... How long you've been doing this for..."
"4 years. Why?"
Machi simply went silent and nodded her head dejectedly.
"Whatever. Here, you two deliver these to Feldman center, locker 99X," Ivy snarled as she snapped a photo of Miércoles and Machi alongside the drugs. "That shit you found was meant to be an order anyway, and if you were just saying you'd join just to avoid dying, you're now accomplices anyway, since I just got some insurance. So obey everything I say, or you'll wish I'd have killed you when you end up in a maximum security prison. Now get to it, client's scheduled to pick it up in an hour."
The flashback movie then ended, leaving me a greater mess of emotions.
Was Ivy really this kind of monster beneath the surface? I thought she just acted like a gangster to look tough, not because she actually was one.
Looking to my left, I noticed Jeter continuing to worsen his scowl. I guess this revelation is hitting him hard too. He really seemed to care for Ivy too, so it must be worse off for him knowing that the girl he likes so much is actually a drug dealing murderer.
"And that was all done in a week. All in flashback as you just saw. Care to see how I made use of extra week two out of three?" Silas maliciously chuckled.
"Weeks"!? Seriously, what is he talking about? Is he talking about an investigation? I guess so, since he has video of Ivy caught in the act, but how did he even get that shit, and at such a clean angle? You'd think he was standing there the whole time, but then why wouldn't anyone notice? Was he invisible? Controlling-
"And time for week number two, viewer discretion, but you've got no choice but to view it all, so soak up al the graphic violence you're about to see," Silas sneered as the projector began playing again.
What showed up on screen, made me vomit. Ivy was murdering people in various ways and places, all while laughing and shouting obscenities at them as they died. One scene that jumped out at me was one of her rigging a truck to explode. That very truck... was the one way back from that day all this shit began... And the reason why she was doing all this? In her own words in the video, it was to "Frame Momo for murder so I can watch her go to jail and get raped to death."
That was it... Ivy was never my friend. She was a bitch- No, an inhumane evil monster. And with that, tears not only flowed down my face, but Jeter's as well. I didn't care that Silas appeared to be reveling in the moment, all that was on my mind, was pain.
Pain... Pain...
Maybe, the world ending isn't such a bad idea.
Not giving us time to sort out our thoughts, Silas showcased the final of his "three week series", this time, showcasing Ivy's arrest and trial. It was nothing but a higlight reel of him presenting shit to the jury, Miércoles and Machi turning on Ivy to get better plea deals... I didn't care. All I could think about was pain. But then...
Stab!
Silas scowled and narrowed his gaze as he stared down at the object now impaled in his chest. "Oh? You actually decided to stab me?"
A devastated, but equally enraged, Jeter, gritted his teeth so hard it looked like they might crack and shatter on the spot. "Silas... You motherfucker... YOU MOTHERFUCKER! I'LL KILL YOU FOR THIS!"
