Chapter 4:

Chapter 4: Physical Training

Soldier Clasess

The next moment the bell rang and class was ready to begin. Drill Sergeant Harvey and Senior Drill Sergeant Griffin just came into the door.

"Trainees, all of you know what to do, am I correct?" Drill Sergeant Harvey told them.

"Yes, Drill Sergeant!" All of them yelled. "We Report for Formation outside Drill Sergeant!"

"That's good to hear trainees." Drill Sergeant Griffin tells them.

All of Class 3-D goes outside for formation.

Then two mysterious people were walking to the class's building out of nowhere.

"The two people coming are the class's Battery Commander Captain Van Pelt and First Sergeant Trekell," Anna tells Mallory, "They're the people that are in charge of this class technically."

"You see every time for formation we have usually one of our Drill Sergeants will report to the First Sergeant how much people there are and who's missing, then we will recite The Soldier's Creed and sing The Army Song. That's how formation works."

Mallory shook her head as Anna explained to her.

"We are also expected to know all of this word for word. Like when the first day of formation all of us were doing exercises non-stop just for singing The Army Song wrong." Anna showed Mallory her muscles, "That's from all of the exercises we did."

"Damn!" Mallory said.

"Alright trainees line-up for formation." First Sergeant Trekell told them after he had just reached their building.

"Hey, Nhyira! Let me show you where you're going to be for formation ok?" Drill Sergeant Harvey told her.

Drill Sergeant Harvey looked in his list of everyone's last names in alphabet order in the book he was holding.

"You are going in between Na-moo and Neo, you got that?" Drill Sergeant Harvey told Mallory.

"Yes Drill Sergeant!" she responded.

"Welp, she's getting the hang of this." Drill Sergeant Harvey said to himself.

"Hey, Mallory, Na-moo would be me," Anna tells Mallory as both of them were getting into formation." Neo is a robot who was programmed by a couple of scientist in order to see if a robot can be able to adjust to a human life. He should be coming any moment now."

Mallory hears wind from above her and it appears someone was going down like someone parachuting off a airplane.

"Neo, what did we say about flying to this building?" First Sergeant Trekell asked him.

"If I plan to fly here I should land where no one is present." Neo responded.

"Good, it seems like you remembered this time around." First Sergeant Trekell tells him.

"You'll be next to the new girl Nhyira from now on."

"Where is she?" Neo asked First Sergeant.

"Right next to Na-moo." First Sergeant replied.

Neo went to where Anna and Mallory where.

"Are you Nhyira?" Neo asked Mallory.

"Yes I am." Mallory tells Neo, "But you can call me Mallory, which is my first name."

"Well my first name is James," he tells Mallory, "You can call me that as well."

Now it was time for First Sergeant to call for the report.

"Fall in." he tells them.

Everyone except Mallory goes into the position of attention.

"Nhyira, you're supposed to be doing what everyone else is doing." James whispers to her.

"I'm new here I don't know what I'm supposed to do." Mallory whispers back to James.

"First Sergeant Class 3-D." Drill Sergeant Harvey reports to First Sergeant.

"Reapers!" Everyone (except Mallory) yells.

"Reapers are our classes' name, we're nicknamed "Dead Class" so that why we're called that." Anna whispers to Mallory

"22 assigned 22 present!" Drill Sergeant Harvey continues.

"Good. The Soldier's Creed." First Sergeant tells them.

Everyone except Mallory was reciting The Soldier's Creed because Mallory had no idea what it was. Then, it was time to sing The Army Song and yet Mallory had no idea of what that was either.

"You'll get used to it, it's not going to be that hard." Anna tells her.

"Now it's time for PT." First Sergeant tells the class.

"Extend to the left, march!" Senior Drill Sergeant Griffin yelled.

Everyone (Mallory included) moved to the left side of where they were

"Arms downward, move!" Senior Drill Sergeant Griffin yelled, "Left face!"

Everyone (except Mallory) turn their left heel and right toe to the left and had both of the heels of their legs together.

"Extend to the left, march!" Senior Drill Sergeant Griffin yelled.

Everyone (with Mallory included) did this.

"Arms downward, move!" Senior Drill Sergeant Griffin yelled, "Right face!"

Everyone (except Mallory) turn their right heel and left toe to the right and had both of the heels of their legs together.

Now it was time to start Physical Training which was their Phy Ed class.

The class did plenty of exercises including push-ups, mountain climbers, and squats.

Then, it was time to start actual Phy Ed in which they were doing baseball.

Mallory surprisingly wasn't chose last but 10th.

The person who chose Mallory was the sports fanatic Seth Jordan, "Let's see what you can do Nhyira!" he tells her as she runs to him.

The game started out fine except that Seth's team had been losing because of a string of bad luck.

Mallory stepped off to pitch but got striked three times and when she tried to catch a ball it fell on the ground.

"Yeah this is not my best day." she says to herself.

The rest of her team was noticing this too, when she does something.

Drill Sergeant Gutiérrez was in charge of Phy Ed and he did not like how Mallory was playing baseball.

"Hey new girl can you come over here?" Drill Sergeant Gutiérrez asked.

"Yes Drill Sergeant!" Mallory replied.

"Why the hell are you playing as if you're a newbie at a video game?" he asked her.

"Well, I'm just not good at sports." she told him, "I've never been good at any sports whatsoever because I don't really care about sports."

"Well let me keep in real with ya." he tells her, "In this class: You will do your hardest and actually give a damn about what you're doing you got that?"

"Yes Drill Sergeant!" she says this as she shrugs.

"Now I get it: You have no motivation. That's the reason why you aren't trying your best. Because of your lack of motivation you don't bother to put in any work at all." he explains.

"Yeah, because maybe I don't like to play sports!" she hissed.

"Well, then it sucks to be you if you want to fail school. Because if you don't pass this class you're going nowhere in life." Drill Sergeant Gutiérrez told her.

Mallory stammered, "Wah...Wah...What?".

""Yeah even the one class you fail you're future is doomed. They never told you this because you're new, but this class is where you're dreams are dead, you're hopes are gone, and you're future is damned! By being in this class you've secured yourself to being a nobody in the future. Whiled everyone else is achieving their dreams you'll be working at Burger Boy." Drill Sergeant Gutiérrez explains.

"No way. But how is this even possible?" Mallory asks stammering.

"Because regardless or not you graduate you'll be grantee to become a nobody by being in this class." He tells her.

"But I don't want to become a failure." she tells him.

"Good because that's where we come in. The school turned this class into an Army Boot Camp in order to see if all of you have the chance to become successful, into someone of importance, and if you're gonna sit around bitching that you can't do baseball then you might as well just quit because Class 3-D students aren't even allowed to change classes." he tells her.

That moment Mallory realized something even though she's not into sports she still at the end of the day has to contribute and give it her all.

So when her team was up to bat and she was up she gave all of her effort into hitting the baseball. At it soared like a bird.

"Woah!" Mallory says, "You mean I could do that?"

"Hurry up and run dammit!" Gina who was on her team tells her.

Mallory made it up to second base, when the next person up to bat hit the ball she didn't made it to third but she was happy that she gave it her all that game.
