Kiyoshi Miike, part II.

Kiyoshi stands on top of the rooftop of a large building. the other members of his unit tell him to get moving as there are things to be done. Kiyoshi looks at the flames all over the city. after some time of thinking. he finally follows his people. 

they are walking downstairs. the building in which they landed was some sort of office space for a company that was going bankrupt. there are barely any people in the building. they keep moving in a uniform way. trying to maintain a singular speed. not too fast, not too slow.

as they keep moving between floors. looking at important documents on the floor. going around using stairs. avoiding elevators. there are some people they find in their way. nothing seems to be too abnormal. while they were moving, they asked most people they found in their way to either go all the way upstairs or wait inside the building. as going outside will be too dangerous for anyone without a proper training to fight back. 

in that short amount of time, they had successfully rescued some civilians. they are informed that the helicopter is going to make a small stop to filled up the tank. they reach floor five where they start to see blood all around. there are some body parts here and there. a lady in a business suit approaches them. she has bloodstains on her suit. 

"One of those creatures is inside. it killed everyone from the finance department while I was in the bathroom. I am sure it went downstairs." said the lady as she cleans up her glasses.

"Unit seven. half of you stay here with the civilian. the rest follow me." said the captain.

Hinata Uzumaki, is captain of unit 7. she has an inferiority complex when it is about Kiyoshi. she tries to hide it. but when he gets the spotlight and she doesn't even get a mention of her multiple achievements. those things make it hard for her to hold her wounded pride.

Captain Uzumaki looks at any opportunity to look down on Kiyoshi. she is furious by the professional way in which he has been behaving while the other members keep making minor mistakes that get on her nerves. they behave too relax for what can be their last day on earth.

then out of nowhere parts of the floor fall. she tells them to stop. from the hole a creature emerges looking at them. the creature in question has a torso with the shape of a turtle. it has long fat slimy arms. it has thick lateral legs. it has four legs and two arms. the frontal legs are thinner and shorter. the creature has a long neck. its face is similar to that of a fish. its cheeks are swollen and hanging like bags. it has humanlike eyes. 

"Be careful. we haven't confirmed what it can do. shoot at a safe distance from it." said captain Uzumaki commanding her unit.

the creature stares at them from a brief moment before leaving. they feel relief knowing that they didn't need to engage in battle. they lack knowledge and manpower to confront something massive like that creature. but there lies a pending truth. 

"Unit 6. I repeat unit six has fallen. all units that have wounded members of need of medical assistance are told to return. return immediately." said a voice through a radio.

Captain Uzumaki calls the pilot almost immediately. she felt like something was wrong. she asks them to return as soon as possible. they keep moving downstairs slowly. then they look at a giant Kaiju like monster outside destroying everything on its way. the creature is hidden by the darkness of the night. it is raining heavily. some lightning adds detail to the creature's horrifying nature. even Captain Uzumaki fears what lies outside.

they didn't need to leave outside. Captain Uzumaki calls everyone. she tells them to return back to the rooftop. they go running upstairs with the lady in a suit. there are loud noises coming from downstairs. they move faster and scare.

the helicopter is landing in front of them. ten of the members of unit 7 get inside. the helicopter leaves. out of nowhere a car is thrown towards the helicopter. it explodes almost right away at the impact. the helicopter falls in flames and pieces.

Captain Uzumaki tries to contact headquarters. but there is no answer. they were left in the middle of a city infested with monsters. there is a small possibility of them surviving.

 Kiyoshi looks at his girlfriend. she is scared. he hugs her. he tries to make empty promises that everything will be alright when he knows too well that it isn't. he looks at the captain expecting a new order or anything from her. a plan to escape alive from there. but there is nothing.

"They will send another helicopter. they will do it for sure. you're the son of the Master. we can make it if we stay in here." said Captain Uzumaki trembling.

"Our leader told us to rescue people. but our safety is the priority. we can't save others if we can't keep ourselves alive. so, we won't proceed with the original plan. we will only save civilians who come inside the building. I will station myself all the way on the first floor to secure a possible exit in case of an emergency." said Kiyoshi.

before doing anything. he looks at Kosaki. he tells her how much he loves her. he hugs and kisses her with passion. then he asks her to stay there. to stay at the captain's side. he knows the captain is capable of keeping her alive. he then let's her know that they will make it. he then leaves with two people. one of them was their teacher.

Kiyoshi moves once more downstairs. this time he takes light steps. trying to avoid noise. there are sounds coming from all over the building. it could be the wind. it could be survivors. or worse than all monsters. Kiyoshi trembles as an unfamiliar sensation touches lightly his feet. there is something moving around the stairs. he looks at the other graduate who looks ignorant of the situation. then he looks at the teacher who seems to not give a fuck either. 

there is sweat. winter slaps them in the back once the temperature starts to drop. the smell of blood starts to be abundant. the smell is so intense like an off-brand perfume. the lack of light makes it hard to see in the darkness. every step makes echo. every sound provokes anxiety and a dreadful sense of curiosity. there is so little that they can do by themselves.

after some agonizing long thirty-seven minutes they finally made it all the way to the first floor. in there they look for survivors or monsters. they blocked every exit and entrance. then the teacher pulls out a cigarette. he leaves for a second to smoke. the other guy follows him. they never returned after that night. assuming the worse Kiyoshi blocked the door. he looks at the dense amounts of ash the surround the whole area. there is dust and some fog in the air. 

Kiyoshi sits down in a worn-out gray chair. he looks up at the ceiling. he doesn't cry. he doesn't make any sad facial expressions. there is no facial movement at all. there he is just looking at nothing as a way to process what has come to be of his life. he feels affected, greatly. but he knows that this is beyond him. the world has gone to shit. what is new? all he can do now is do his best to protect the love of his life. he could die for her. he could give away anything and everything just to keep her safe.

there is a loud noise coming from outside. Kiyoshi jumps up in the air out of shock. he was interrupted in his little daydream. he follows the noise to the outside. he is mostly guided by a strange sense of curiosity. he looks at two recognizable corpses in the way. one would be a classmate he spoke to once. and a teacher who was too incompetent for his position. 

Kiyoshi follows the loud noise until he stops in front of a teenage girl using a broom to fight off a smaller monster with the shape of a white big fish. the fish has eight long spider-like legs. the teenage girl is trying to protect a boy no older than eight years old hiding behind her. the boy holds from her shirt tightly. he cries out of fear. he is scared for his older sister.

Kiyoshi pulls out a small knife. he jumps on top of the fish monster. he stabs it multiple times. he then takes the broom from the girl's hands and breaks it in half before impaling the fish with both sides of the broom. he then looks at both kids. he grabs their hands and pulls them as he walks really fast almost running back inside on the safety of the building.

"Thanks, you saved our lives. I don't know how to repay you. I need to find my parents. can you help us look for them?" said the girl hiding her sadness.

"It won't be possible. the whole city is infested. there is no way out or in without putting lives on danger. your parents may as well be dead by now." said Kiyoshi.
