Chapter 5:

Angus Singh, part I

The crimson planet

2017.

a skinny boy with blonde curly long hair is running. he is wearing glasses with a green frame. he runs as he is about to be late for class. his deep blue sea eyes reveal his sincerity. he wears light brown shorts and a green shirt with short sleeves.

somehow by miracle he makes it on time. his seat is all the way in a corner. he sits down. for the most part he stares at the trees and birds outside.

he watches discreetly as his crush gets inside of the class. her name is Ashlynn. she is the prettiest girl in the whole school. they had been friends for the longest time. ever since they were babies, they lived next to each other. he had always loved Ashlynn from the deepest regions of his heart. her heart belongs to another. even worse, she loves his best friend.

"Hey, my boy Angus. what are ya playing at." said loudly a boy name Kyle as he sits down next to Angus.

yes, that boy was the one Ashlynn loves. his rival and best friend. someone he has known ever since they were kids. Angus smiles as he nods. there is nothing he can say or do. he has given up on his love life. he is resigned to the idea that maybe love wasn't for him. he sighs as he keeps looking away.

it has been twenty years since Angus' uncle went missing. the man was supposed to be some sort of scientist with some achievements under his belt. Angus was thinking about his uncle. he never met the man. but his father who was around his age back then was affected by it.

around this time of the year, they always take a day off to celebrate the life of Uncle Beau. he looks at the calendar on his phone. he sighs as he thinks that tomorrow is the anniversary. his parents are both lawyers and they had made quite a fortune along the years. so, he has nothing to worry about. but he doesn't have anything to look forward.

the day kept passing without anything to prove. it felt tiresome as Angus lacks any real connection with anyone else who isn't one of his close friends.

soon it was lunch break. Angus is sitting by himself in the baseball field. he looks up at the sky that has a gray sorrowful tone. the trees seem vivid with the air caressing them. Angus sighs thinking about the future. there is a void at his heart. a lack of desires to do anything. it isn't like he is suffering of depression or anything alike, probably. it is just a lack of sympathy towards the world. a lack of desire to do anything in the future. there is nothing to awaken a passion on his heart. all his mind can think about is Ashlynn.

"Hey buddy. struggles with your dreams?" asks Kyle with an honest smile.

"Yeah. I am just not sure if I am me sometimes. there is a lack of, you know." answered Angus in a gentle tone of voice that allows you to see how sensitive he is.

Kyle was the traditional cool kid. he wears a black leather jacket. tight pale blue jeans. a belt with the design of a snake. black neon bright boots. sunglasses with a gold frame. a bright smile that brings a smile to the many. he is quite attractive. he has a mole under his lips. a sharp nose that isn't too long nor too short. bushy eyebrows. orange lips. black hair. his eyes are of a light tone of brown under the right amount of sunlight they look like honey. his skin complexion is light with touches of pink. he has a masculine voice.

"That is life. live with it and soon enough there would be a reason to be. don't think too hard about things before losing your life trying to find meaning to life." said Kyle as he combs his hair with a wooden comb.

"You are my hero man, I don't know what a cool guy like you is doing here with a loser like me. you better not let Ashlynn wait. she said something about going to meet with you in private once school is over." said Angus trying to hide the melancholy between his words.

"She is too clingy. she is loud. immature for sure. how can you love such a boring gal like her? the next time you fall in love, it better me someone worth your love." said Kyle with all sincerity aware of the way his friend feels about her, and how she feels about him.

"Love is like that. it's a force you can't ignore. is a force you can't force to be or cease to be. it will hit whenever it feels like it. and it for sure hits, hard. painfully. at full force. it is one of those things we humans can't control nor fully get to understand." said Angus loudly.

"Are you sure you aren't an old poet? I can picture the title for your story already, 'that time the Poet died and reincarnated in the future with a lame crush, and a super cool friend.' what about that, heh." said Kyle as he puts a lollipop between his lips.

"Who is the nerd now? too much manga is affecting your brains." said Angus as he laughs.

"Hey, you can't force me to read without pictures for reference. and manga for sure qualifies like proper literature with pictures." said Kyle trying to prove that he has a legit point to make.

the conversation ends there once Ashlynn approaches. Kyle looks uncomfortable with her around him asking random questions. Kyle comes up with an excuse to walk out of there.

Ashlynn sits down next to Angus. she starts to play with his hair. Ashlynn stares at his face. she lets him know that he is like a little brother to her. she loves his pretty face and wishes to have a sister as pretty as him. Angus felt wounded. like a dagger been twisted deep inside the heart.

the day kept moving, Angus felt like his soul was dragged to the ground. in the blink of an eye school was finally over. he could just leave and let the confession be. but something felt strange about the school grounds. as an omen an owl lands in front of him. Angus swallows saliva as he gets ready to return. he needs to make sure that they are safe.

there was something he didn't expected. he never thought that there were other people who also decided to stay behind. either for clubs or sports. even some that had some more mischievous reasons to stay behind.

Angus was walking around the school grounds. he was scared for the lack of light. it was still daytime, but the sky was darker outside.

as Angus was walking around, he clashes with a group of bullies. they had always hated him. but the reason why they never acted on their emotions was because Angus always walked with Kyle's protection. but there is no one out there to protect him now.

one of the bullies punches him in the face once. Angus falls on the ground. the bullies start to kick him with all their strength. they kept hitting him with everything they had. their rage was unprovoked and irrational. there was no excuse.

Angus is bleeding too much. then the ground starts to shake. they stop. the ground shakes abruptly and violently as the school seems to start to fall apart. the bullies try to run away. one or two of them didn't make it as parts of the infrastructure falls crushing them to death.

Angus stands up. he starts to run with all his strength. he walks towards the rooftop. he runs upstairs trying to stay conscious. he opens the door. he stares at Kyle and Ashlynn. they are kissing with passion and desire. Kyle pushes Ashlynn aside. he feels disgusted as he stares at Angus' wounds. he feels irritated by what is to come.

"Sorry buddy. she isn't worth your love. she is pathetic throwing herself at the first alpha male that approaches her. you need to let go of your pointless affection for her and grow up." said Kyle with a friendly smile as he cleans his lips with a napkin.

the rooftop starts to break apart. Angus looks bellow. there was a giant hole being formed around the school grounds. the whole building is swallowed by the hole.

Kyle pushes Ashlynn aside as he walks towards the exit. Angus runs towards her. Ashlynn falls off the building towards her demise. Angus screams in horror. he looks at Kyle who is begging him to follow him to the exit. Angus couldn't stand in there properly. as the rest of the build falls into pieces, Angus also falls deep inside of the hole. to a probable end.

Angus opens his eyes. it is unclear how long it has been since he fell. he stands up trembling. there in the darkness of the hole there are only two forms of light in that pitch black place. one single ray of light illuminates Ashlynn's corpse. she lies there cold. there is terror on her face. there is a piece of iron that penetrated her stomach. there is blood everywhere.

the other form of light comes from a Jade door. the door stands at the heart of the hole. it is hard to calculate its precise height. it appears to be about ten meters tall. it is closed. there is nothing on either side of the door. but there is a sound. similar to someone, or something knocking on the other side of the door. it brings the question of to where the door leads or what would happen once it is open. there is so much dread in the air.

the hole is around twenty meters deep. it will be a miracle for Angus to escape. there are noises coming from every corner of the hole. screams of survivors being devoured by beings hidden in the darkness.

Angus stands up. aside from getting beaten up. he has some substantial wounds caused by the fall and the debris. he takes solid steps towards Ashlynn's corpse. he kneels. there is no God that he can think about. no desire to pray. he just hugs the corpse in front of him. he cries loudly with intense pain. he screams with rage. he almost sounds like a wailing animal.

then comes a loud sound. it is hopeful. it is peaceful. it comes from above. he thinks about a rescue team that is too late. Ashlynn is gone. there is no reason to be. to reason to escape. he then recalls Kyle's diabolical smirk as he killed her. it is possible that he may be still alive. then a volatile emotion comes pulling the strings. it was an intense thirst for revenge.

Angus trembles. down there is like a severe winter. he feels like this could be the end for him. there is a warm voice calling from him. he looks around. there is no one. then the sound of footsteps approaching gives him a reason to worry.

a man in a black suit presents himself in front of Angus. the man in question pulls a chair in front of him before sitting down. the man is holding a cup of black tea. he drinks while making lively gestures. he offers some tea to Angus. a butler holds a candle that is enough to illuminate the area around the man in the suit. his smooth face is visible. his slick hair covering his left eye. his purple tie with orange bones.

"Do you like tea? we have all the time in the world boy." said the man with a sinister smile.
