Chapter 63:
Ascension of the Void Monarch
The smoke cleared.
Oris lay on one knee, his blade shattered, his body broken—but alive. Not by his own will… but by Ren’s choice.
“You… held back?” Oris asked, coughing.
Ren didn’t answer. His aura had dimmed, his breathing steady. He turned away from the ruin he’d left in his wake.
“You’re still a part of my past,” he muttered. “And I need that past… to understand what the hell really happened.”
Silence stretched.
Then Oris spoke—quiet, hoarse, but every word slicing through the air like a blade.
“You deserve the truth.”
Flashback – 7 Years Ago
The world wasn’t yet in ruins. The skies were still blue, the towers still untouched. Ren was still a rising warrior… and Oris? He was a General of the Council—one of the last protectors of balance.
And the Council?
Corrupted.
They knew of Nyx’s rise. They knew of the Abyss Gates. And they let it happen. Why?
Because they believed in something worse—The Celestial Accord.
A pact with an unknown force beyond the stars.
A deal made for immortality… for power.
The cost? The planet.
Oris discovered the truth too late.
“When I tried to expose them… they branded me a traitor,” he whispered in the present. “They threatened to erase you… everyone close to me. I had to disappear. I had to play dead.”
Ren’s fists clenched.
“So you left me behind.”
“To protect you from becoming a pawn,” Oris said. “But it didn’t matter. The moment Nyx ascended… all of us became pieces on someone else’s board.”
Back in the present, Ren’s mind reeled.
“So what now?” he asked. “You want me to fight this… Celestial Accord too?”
Oris met his eyes.
“You’re not just the Monarch of Void, Ren. You’re the key to breaking the Accord’s hold.”
Ren narrowed his eyes.
“Why me?”
“Because your bloodline isn’t human.”
Ren froze.
“What?”
Oris stood shakily, and from a hidden locket, he pulled a shattered data crystal. “Your mother… wasn’t from this world.”
The crystal pulsed faintly.
“Her people were hunted by the Accord. She died protecting you from them.”
Ren stared at the crystal, a storm raging in his chest.
“You want to help me now?”
“No,” Oris said. “I want to follow you.”
