Chapter 28:
The Hunters Duality
As Osore ranted, Honō collected his thoughts and decided to ask the most important question.
“Why?”
“Why, are you collecting beast corpses?”
As he asked this question Osore went quiet as if thinking how to respond.
“Why you ask? Hmm, I can’t say just yet but what I can say is that there are things beyond your understanding in play” answered Osore as he slowly started to laugh manically.
Osore’s laugh grew louder and louder before coming to an end as he asked
“So, what’s your move Honō Hantā?” Asked Osore still in a slight laugh.
“Depends, are you friend or foe?” responded Honō with a follow up question.
“Take a guess, dipshit” answered Osore as he started to laugh once more even louder than before.
“Fine then” replied Honō as he disappeared to in front of Osore and shot a direct glacial voltage at Osore’s feet.
Osore did not move as his entire lower body from his feet upwards became in closed in ice, instead he started to laugh even louder as he suddenly stopped and began to sink into the darkness around him.
Honō stood on guard waiting for him to appear again. As it happened the clouds began to cover the moon once more leaving Honō in complete darkness.
“Boo” Osore spoke before appearing from the darkness behind Honō.
When Osore appeared behind Honō, Honō turned around while jumping away from Osore ready to block any attack.
Honō knew from Osore slipping into the darkness that while in the darkness he was invulnerable meaning the only way he could survive was by going on the defensive till the sun rose.
Osore began to laugh at Honō as he saw him jump back before dashing at Honō as he made a blade of darkness.
Honō now unable to see Osore in the night coated his long sword in electric frost as a form of light. When Honō did this he saw Osore’s blade of darkness seconds away from his face. As Honō did, he attempted to block the blade of darkness.
When his electric frost coated blade was about to make contact with the blade of darkness, it passed through it. As it passed through, the darkness began to retract on the blade revealing Its true steel edge.
As Honō saw this he knew he only had seconds to respond the attack, so he dropped the heavy steel blade from his right hand and made a staff of ice which extended from his hand and hit Osore’s steel blade off course.
While Honō’s steel blade fell he caught it in his left hand as Osore’s blade went off course missing him entire.
As Osore’s blade missed he put out his left hand to which tendrils of darkness shot out launching Honō back but not taking him out of the fight entirely.
“Try make this at least interesting for me Honō, oh I know how about this leave me entertained and I’ll let you live along with give the information on how to stop the beast attacks” laughed Osore manically as he charged at Honō.
Honō knew he was outmatched but still he knew he had to get that information no matter what.
Osore charged at Honō full speed, before attempting to slash Honō with his blade now fully coated in darkness again. As the the blade of darkness came down on Honō he attempted to block it with his sword knowing it would pass through.
Since Honō knew it would pass through he was ready to shoot another staff of ice at the blade.
As his sword pass through the blade of darkness he waited for the darkness to retract so he could hit it off course with a staff of ice, but it never happened the darkness never retracted leading for the blade of darkness to pass through Honō.
It was a feint.
As Honō realised this he noticed a ball of darkness condensing in Osore’s left hand but before he could even move for the block the ball of darkness shot out at Honō hitting him directly in the abdomen and sending him flying into a nearby pill of debris left from the bear attack.
Honō could barely move all he knew was he needed to fight, he needed to get up.
Cause if he didn’t, he would be killed by Osore.
