Chapter 29:

Duality - Mesuda Village Arc

The Hunters Duality

It hadn’t been long since Honō left the cabin to confront Osore, when another opened the door of the cabin and began running towards where the beast corpses were unaware of the fight between Honō and Osore.

While the fight continued Honō gripped his sword before trying to stand back up from the rubble, he was thrown in, to fight Osore. As Honō stood up he saw Osore’s silhouette walking towards him as it was too dark to anything more then the silhouette.

As Honō went take a step forward he felt something wrap around his right ankle. Before he could even look at what it was, he started to be flung and slammed into the ground repeatedly until in the end when he was thrown back into the rubble that he had gotten up from.

While he laid there in the rubble his eyesight began to go fuzzy as he saw Osore walk towards him. He began to feel the blood run from his head covering his forehead and eventually pooling into his eyes as his vision became dyed red, his mind began to race.

- Is this it, am I going to die?

- What about the rest of them, will they be ok?

- No, they should be fine he already said he doesn’t care about Ash and Witz is too high profile for him to go after.

- Wait shit he knows I told Selene about him.

- She’s in danger.

- if I die now then she’ll die next all because of me, because of my stupidity, because of my weakness.

- I can’t die yet, I must live.

As this thought entered his mind he finally lost his remaining consciousness, causing his eyelids to fall covering his eyes and pushing the pooled blood out of his eyes and down his face in what looked like a stream of tears, crimson tears of blood at his own inability to help those around him, to accomplish something of worth.

While his consciousness left him, one thought continued to echo from what felt like the depths of his soul.

- kill.

This one word, echoed quietly from the depth of his body emanating from the soul until it began to erupt like volcano. One quiet echo of the word turned into a storm of screams from the soul all yelling the same thing,

- KILL.

- KILL.

- KILL, KILL, KILL.

As this storm of killing inside Honō raged on, Honō himself had long lost consciousness.

Osore walked slowly over to Honō’s unconscious body laying in the blood soaked rubble. As Osore stood in front of Honō, he began to speak emotionlessly,

“How disappointing for an, A rank I thought you’d have at least been interesting but nevertheless I see now I had no reason to be concerned of you looking into my business. Farewell Honō Hantā”

As Osore said this he attempted to stab Honō’s unconscious body directly in the chest as to finish him off.

While the blade came down on Honō’s body it stopped, the blade had been caught.

By none other than Honō himself.

As Honō held the blade bear handed blood began to trickle down the blade from where he held it. Osore jumped back pulling his blade from Honō’s grasp.

“Seems you still have some fight left in you after all” shouted Osore in a maniacal laugh.

After Osore jumped back Honō began to stand from the rubble blood rushing from his hand. As Honō finally stood up the clouds around the moon began to clear again allowing the moon’s light to shine on them once more.

The full moon shone on Honō as he stood blood still trickling down his head shining a bright crimson, staring at Osore with red, blood stained eyes. As Honō stood in the moonlight he began to let out a bloodcurdling laugh while picking back up his long sword no longer coated in electric frost.

When the bloodcurdling laugh came to an end Honō oozing bloodlust pointed his sword, now drenched in his own blood as his hand bleed down onto the swords handle, at Osore before saying with an eerie expression, full of the intent to kill.

“I’ll kill you, no matter what. You are my prey now”
