I woke up holding Evelyn in my arms, we started to sleep together since we couldn’t help each other, or maybe it was because we will not be able to be together anymore, we were looking at each other and I touched the chick of Evelyn, my whole body was numb at that moment.

I laugh and drink my coffee, looking at it with some nostalgia, like if I wasn’t going to be able to drink it again. Once we finished eating, we went to a local market to have some snacks and food that we could eat along the way.

Evelyn started to talk about when she was little, she was walking around with her dad, her dad didn’t want to bring her but she insisted and went with him sneaking in one of the barrels in the carriage.

When they started to take the barrels down, he found her and they continued their trip. It was a task to just deliver items, wine, meat, beans and other items. They went to a little village to deliver some plants that had healing properties.

Evelyn was looking around in the grass when she saw a snake with the tail of a scorpion and six eyes like a spider, she was the only one that noticed and her dad was far away, the snake was approaching a child the same age as her.

“HEY KID, BE CAREFUL, MOVE MOVE!!!”

She screamed with the top of her lungs but that only confuse the kid but caught the attention of her dad, she started to run with the kid and she saw a short sword in one of the steps, she took it and sheath it out, the snake jumped directly to the edge, splitting blood in the kid and Evelyn.

Evelyn’s dad came as fast as he could and he hugged her daughter.

“I was praised by my father and since that moment he started to teach me about the art of the sword, the length and weight were changing as I was getting taller and had more strength, I try other weapons but none of them feel as good as holding a sword, with it I feel I can protect anything.”

I look at my hands and just smile.

We stood upon a classic inn and we were about to get inside but Evelyn was nervous.

“Are you sure we can come here? This place… looks like a temple, like something sacred.”

I grabbed Evelyn’s hand and went inside the inn. The attendant was reading in a newspaper and I was about to approach her, but Evelyn pulled out my shirt.

“Are you entirely sure?”

“Yeah, why?”

“She looks so beautiful, and look at that dress, we shouldn’t bother her, Azura.”

“It’s okay, besides that’s just traditional clothing?”

“Hi, can I have room for two, please?”

The attendant was shocked when she saw Evelyn but she coughed and returned to her work mode.

She bowed.

She started to bow too but I stepped in the middle.

“I know how this is going to be so let’s just leave it there, alright?”

“Right, sir, sorry. Room for two, a couple packages?”

We looked each other in the eyes and laughed, smiling at each other. The attendant came after a few minutes while we were sitting in the chairs, and guided us to our rooms.

“The changes of clothes are here, you can leave your belongings in the closet and in there there’s the futon, thermal waters are open at any time but dinner is served in 4 hours, so if you want to sleep early, I recommend that you bathe before eating.”

“Thank you so much miss”

Evelyn bowed one more time and the attendant did the same, she left us and I sat down on the floor.

“It has been a while since I sat down in this kind of place.”

“Azura.”

“Yeah?”

“What are thermal waters?”

“Is hot water, like boiling water.”

“is that safe to be?”

“Yeah, it is just to relax, you will know when we go there.”

Evelyn sat down hugging her knees and I bump her with my head.”

“Is not that, is just… this kind of place I… my family is not rich like a told you… these places are for the people that had a lot of money and-“

“I’m going to stop you right there, I am not going to let you feel down on yourself while you shut me up when I’m thinking down about me.”

“Nothing, is the same thing, Ev, look, just enjoy the place, you are more than worthy of being here, you are hard worker, you are amazing, you know a lot of things, if that has something to do with being poor then all the rich guys in your world are total losers same as here, no one in here is that rich except some people in the world”

Evelyn blushed a bit and smiled at me.

“Thank you, Azura… I will go for a walk around the place, I want to know how it is.”

“Sure, I will stay here for a bit, just check the time.”

Evelyn nodded and I sat down in the room in silence, just listening to the clock.
