Chapter 49:

Marry Me

A Solstice Love Song

5 years later

“So what’s going to be our wedding song?” Marco asked.

“Have you heard of Eucalyptro?” I asked as I hummed the song Hard.

“Yes, because you won’t shut up about him,” Marco pouted.

“Are you jealous?” I asked teasingly.

“A little,” He replied honestly.

“Oh.” I hadn’t expected him to be genuinely jealous. “I’m sorry, I just thought Hard was a great song.”

“But for our wedding?”

“For life in general.”

Marco sighed, “I just don’t think it’s appropriate for our wedding.”

“Fine, I’ll concede.”

“We can pick another song from Solstice,” He offered.

“Not from our year though,” I made very clear.

“Why not? There were some beautiful songs. Budors would be good.”

“Yeah, but that’s the problem. Who would we choose? If we choose Budors, what would the others think?”

“I see the problem now.”

“Yep,” I sighed.

Marco walked over to the bench to check his phone, which was charging. The sunlight caught his brown hair and illuminated him like a God. A stupid, sexy God.

“Have you heard back from your band whether they can make it?” Marco asked.

“Noah and Jane replied this morning, saying they could make it.”

“What about the others?”

“Darcy, Jet and their daughter Emily can make it.”

“That’s good. It would suck if our ring bearer and your maid of honour couldn’t attend.”

“It would put a bit of a damper on things.” I nodded my head.

“What about that guy who was your dancer?”

“Pete?”

“I think so. I never really spoke to him.”

“He can’t make it, but he said he would love to shout us when we are down at the pub.”

“That’s unfortunate.” Marco sighed.

“I can make it, too!” Luca chimed in. He had been sitting on the couch the entire time.

“Yes, we already know you can,” I responded, playing along with him.

Luca was currently travelling around Europe, so he was staying with us while in Italy.

“Oh, I thought of a best man or woman for my side.”

“Oh yeah?”

“I was thinking of inviting Valentina.”

I almost passed out.

“I was joking, I was joking. Don’t die on me.” Marco panicked.

I slowly came back around.

“It’s incredible to think how much time has passed.”

“It has gone quick.”

“Hey Marco.”

“What?”

“Do you want to enter Solstice again, this time as just the two of us?” I meant this as a joke, but Luca interjected before I could say anything.

“You would exclude me from performing again?”

“Okay, fine, Luca, you can join us too.”

“Noah might feel a little lonely if we don’t invite him too,” Luca added.

“Fine, Noah is invited as well,” I snapped.

“We can’t have the three of us and not Jet as well.”

I thought for a moment and then nodded.

“Well I guess he comes with the added bonus of Darcy.”

“Pete...”

“I cut Luca off before he could even finish.

“There was never a moment of doubt in my heart about inviting Pete.”

Marco sighed.

“So basically, you are saying you want to enter as Jane Doe featuring me?”

“I guess it did spiral,” I laughed. “Well, I guess we should focus on the wedding.”

“Alright, I posted that,” Luca commented.

“Posted what?”

“I recorded our discussion about planning on returning to Solstice. It’s all over Instaplan now.”

“You’re joking right?” My eye began to twitch.

“Nope.”

“Well, that is something we can worry about after the wedding, I guess.”

Marco laughed.

“As long as I am with you, I don’t care what we do.”

He leaned in and kissed me.
