Chapter 424:
En Passant Grandmaster
Upon noticing Barbro's victory, Iori gleefully castled king's side.
"Wipe that grin off your face. All you did was equalize," Fernanda snarled as she moved her king to g7.
"Correct, meaning that you must still get 1.5 points to win as a match draw will result in us doing this all over again," Chihuahua chuckled.
"Then speaking of draws, care to make one?" Mimoko asked.
Chihuahua shot her a glare. In the moments leading up to Barbro's victory, d6, knight f3, d captures e5, knight captures e5, a6, king f2, f6, knight c4, b5, knight e3, bishop d7, knight d2, king f7, bishop d3, rook c8, knight e4, h5, rook h1, c5, bishop c3, rook e8, a3, c4, bishop c2, bishop e7, and rook h4 had all been played, leaving the overall state of the game relatively even, with a slight edge going to Mimoko.
"And what makes you think a draw can even be offered?" Chihuahua asked as she moved her pawn to g5.
"You didn't use a DESPER, meaning verbal agreements to draws should be allowed, considering you made no mention that they weren't," Mimoko stated as she moved her rook to h2.
"And if I said verbal resignations and agreement to draws were in fact forbidden?" Chihuahua glared as she moved her rook to h6.
"Then I play on, and win," Mimoko declared as she moved her king to g1.
Chihuahua stared in silence, her glare still fixated on Mimoko. "I think I'm going to burn all the skin on your body before skinning you alive, and naturally, I will ensure you survive the ordeal for decades to come," she snarled as she moved her bishop to f8.
The threat sent a chill through Mimoko's body, byt she didn't let it get to her in the slightest. After all, why should she be afraid when she now had a completely winning position. And best of all...
"Sucks that ghost bitch has brains. Guess that's how she became a cartel empress. Guess that means we go with humiliation plan B," Iori thought as she moved her knight to h4.
Fernanda scowled in confusion as she moved her king to f7, completely unaware of the massive assault Iori was about to launch at her.
"And here's check number 1! How many more will come your way!?" Iori grinned as she captured the pawn at g6 with her bishop.
"None, now give me your bishop as compensation for your little charade," Fernanda growled as she captured the bishop at g6 with her h-pawn.
"Wrong answer! Cuz here's another check!" Iori laughed as she captured the pawn at g6 with her queen.
Fernanda gritted her teeth in fury as she moved her king to f8, but as sweat began to trickle down her face, a glimmer of hope overcame her. "She can't do anything! This looks like shit for me, but it's all a bluff. I'm not grandmaster level, but still, I can see a drawn endgame from a mile away. And if I draw, Chi can draw, and we regroup for another round. I don't think these idiots will be able to face us in top form twice in a row!" she thought.
To be fair, this game would likely head towards draw territory, so long as Iori couldn't find the only game-winning move, pawn to f5. And pawn to f5 was exactly the move Iori played. Suddenly, the glimmer of hope vanished as quickly as it came, with a mountain of sweat replacing it as Fernanda desperately tried to figure out what to do next.
"Shit, shit, SHIT! I can't capture the knight, otherwise it's mate, but I can't do anything else either! Fuck! If I lose, Chi will be furious, but how do I save this!? Ugh... maybe this?" Fernanda thought as she moved her queen to g7.
"Wrong answer! But it does get ya a pinup prize!" Iori snickered as she moved her bishop to h6.
"No, my prize is YOUR BISHOP!" Fernanda shouted in fury as she captured the bishop at h6 with her rook.
"Ding, ding, ding, we have another CHECK!" Iori laughed as she captured the pawn at e6 with her f-pawn.
"Ngh! ... NOT YET!" Fernanda dementedly grinned as she moved her king to g8.
"Lol, you know you just mate blundered, right? Well it ain't mate in one, so keep the check counter counting," Iori snickered as she moved her queen to e8.
Fernanda trembled as she moved her king to h7. Reality had begun to set in for her, yet her fear of Chihuahua's wrath prevented her from resigning. That meant, she'd have to deal with more stress on her way to mate, starting with rook f7. Covering her face with her hand in dismay, Fernanda captured the knight at h4 with her rook.
"BOOM! I sacrifice the rook for your queen and a check!" Iori gloated as she captured the queen at g7 with her rook.
With a frustrated groan, Fernanda captured the rook at g7 with her king, and watched as Iori moved her rook to f1. "Dammit! Fucking bishop is trapped!" she fumed as she moved her king to h6.
"Your rook too. And here's check number... which one was it again?" Iori asked as she moved her queen to h8.
"WHO GIVES A FUCK!" Fernanda shouted as she slammed her king down on g6.
"Oops, it's my bad. This is check number 8, meaning the answer is 8 checks and a mate," Iori grinned as she moved her queen to g8.
"Bullshit!" Fernanda fumed as she moved her king to h6.
"Nope, it's 8 checks exactly, and one mate," Iori stated as she moved her rook to f7.
"No, YOU'RE WRONG! You'll have to deliver one more check! I win!" Fernanda madly cackled as she moved her knight to f6.
"Nope, cuz I just do this. Mate in one, bitch," Iori grinned as she captured the knight at f6 with her e-pawn.
Fernanda's jaw dropped in disbelief, and continued to hang for a few good seconds before she let out an agonized scream and captured the pawn at e6 with her d-pawn.
"And 8 checks and a checkmate. Looks like you didn't guess that, so no prize for you, only batsu," Iori snickered as she moved her rook to h7, winning the game.
