Third-year highschooler Mimiko Inoue has decided to become a professional chess player, but her mission to get a chess club at her high school has reached a stalemate. However, after an encounter with a member from an underground chess league, Mimiko will be thrust into the world of chess death battles alongside her kohai, Okisato Tanabe, who seems oddly unfazed by all this.
