Chapter 21:
The other side of the end
A shot rang out. Nix shot Teren and she fell to the ground.
Kelis and the entire team of scientists looked at the pillars. Neither the explosives nor Lien and Axel were there. They had just moved to the planet Lyra.
- “What happened?” - Tera asked.
- “Lien just saved the entire project. That’s what happened…” - Kelis answered.
The pillars of time lit up. Lien and Axel returned. Everyone in the room looked at them in surprise.
- “What happened? How did you return? How did you save yourself?” - asked Nix.
Lien and Axel looked at each other. They knew they shouldn’t talk about the planet of long life.
- “Everything happened too fast…” - Lien said.
- “But we managed to move the explosives in the end,” - Axel added.
- “Were you at the other pillars? What was there?” - asked Eric.
- “Darkness, and nothing more,” - answered Lien.
- “The main thing is that you are back. Now let's continue launching the pillars!” - said Kelis.
Axel and Tera began to re-adjust the pillars.
Tera began to turn the time compass. Axel and Kelis began to raise the levers on the pillars and increase the area that needed to be moved in time.
An energy sphere formed around the pillars and it grew in volume. This was the area that the pillars had to move in time.
Axel and Kelis continued to raise the levers. The area continued to grow. It went beyond the boundaries of the research center and enveloped the entire city. People began to look in surprise at the energy sphere in which they found themselves.
The sphere continued to grow and began to spread to other countries. Over time, it enveloped the entire continent. Then it crossed the ocean and began to envelop other continents. And finally, it enveloped the entire earth.
Eric, who was sitting at the monitoring system, watched this.
- "We have reached the necessary point," - said Eric.
The whole world froze, looking up at the sky and watching the mysterious energy that surrounded the earth. The world had froze like this only once before, when the Rebirth shone.
- "Start the jump!" - said Kelis.
Axel began to spin the time compass. The Earth disappeared from the solar system.
And for humans, for a brief moment, the Sun and stars disappeared.
Axel spun the compass further and further. The compass rotated and made a new circle. At this time, Axel counted how many circles she had already unwound to move ten billion years into the future.
And then Axel stopped and let go of the compass.
- “It seems that it’s done,” - Axel said uncertainly.
Silence fell in the room.
- “Well, who will check if we succeeded?” - asked Nix.
The phone rang and everyone looked at it. Kelis slowly walked to the phone to pick it up. However, the phone picked up Sena.
He listened to what he was told and hung up.
- “It seems that you succeeded. Rebirth is no longer visible,” - said Sena calmly.
Everyone present, hearing this, began to rejoice wildly.
Lien leaned wearily against one of the pillars.
- "We finally made it..." - Lien thought.
The phone rang again in the room. Sena picked up the phone, listened to a few seconds of what he was told, and hung up.
- "Kelis, open the elevator door," - said Sena
Kelis glanced at Sena.
– “They’re closed for security reasons. No one but us needs to be in this room right now. Why open them?” – asked Kelis.
– “Our security will come look,” - Sena said.
– “Is that really necessary?” – asked Kelis.
Sena took out a gun and pointed it at Kelis. Everyone looked at the weapon in shock.
Nix carefully and slowly reached for his gun. However, Sena saw this and shot Nix in the chest. Nix fell to the ground.
Sena pointed the gun at Kelis again.
– “What do you mean? You don’t need us anymore?” – asked Kelis.
- “We are now in a new world, and someone will have to take on the role of saviors. Trust in such people will flow by itself,” - said Sena.
- “And the pillars of time are also for your trust? Will you turn them into a secret object that can be traded and threatened again?” - asked Kelis.
- “These people believed in this project, and deserve to have full control over it. Leaving the pillars under the control of scientific centers is not a very appropriate option. But don’t worry, when your help is needed, you will be turned to again… If, of course, you do everything as they ask of you now,” - said Sena.
Kelis listened to Sena.
- "Unlock the elevator system," - Kelis said to Eric.
Eric unlocked the elevator. A few seconds later, everyone in the room heard the elevator descending.
Lien looked closely at Sena and waited for the right moment. The elevator opened, and inside were armed men sent by the sponsors and who had previously protected the research center from the attack of the Order of the Awaiting Rebirth.
Sena was distracted by the elevator. Lien took advantage of this situation.
- "Run, naki o!" - Lien shouted.
Sena looked at Lien in surprise. A second later, he heard the creak of metal. Sena looked around and saw a robot that had come out of the shadows of the room and crushed Sena with his hand. Seeing this, the armed men looked at the robot in shock for a few seconds and opened fire on it.
The robot began to drive up to the armed men. They fired with everything they had. But it was in vain. The robot waved his hand and swept away the two armed men. Seeing this, the others stopped shooting and threw down their weapons with their hands raised. The robot stopped and looked at Lien.
- "Nivo eso" - Lien said.
The robot began to closely observe the people who had previously held weapons in their hands.
Tera ran to Nix and began to press on the wound to stop the bleeding.
- "Hold on," - Tera said.
The robot led part of the research center team outside. Seeing the large robot and the unarmed people walking in front of the robot, everyone who surrounded the research center did not dare to shoot.
Nix was taken away by ambulance.
The sponsors were angrily and dissatisfiedly arguing among themselves because of the failure to capture the time pillars.
Going outside, the team looked into the sky. There they saw a greenish Sun, which was different in color from what was in the previous solar system.
Several days passed. People were informed that the Earth had been moved in time. They gradually began to accept the new world.
Nix, after lying in the hospital, came to his senses and was already able to receive visitors. He was visited by a team that launched time pillars.
On the top floor of the research center where the observatory was located, Kelis sat and watched the sky. Lien entered the observatory.
- “And what is there, beyond the Earth?” - asked Lien.
- “Something that will require years of research from us,” - answered Kelis.
- “What did you do with the pillars?”
- “I hid them for now. After the world finds out what they are capable of, we need to figure out how to restrict access to them so that they cannot be used without proper control.”
Kelis looked at Lien.
- “Lien, I wanted to tell you about the last day when Rennie... I was then…”
- “No need!” - interrupted Lien. – “Reni never regretted the way he acted. He always said that he would not change anything, because everything that happened brought us here…”
Lien looked at the sky.
- “I don’t know if this is the best version of what could have happened,” Lien added.
- “However, it is still the version where we were able to avoid Rebirth,” Kelis replied.
Lien stared thoughtfully at the sky. After a while, he stopped doing this and headed towards the exit from the observatory. Lien left the observatory without answering Kelis.
