Chapter 7: Love of Light and Dark

The next day.

Zeth and Sasha sit near the edge of a quiet spring. They have the raggedy remains of their pants on again, and Sasha has used what remains of her upper body clothes to create a makeshift bra. Zeth is shirtless. Sasha is on her knees, washing Zeth’s back as he sits with his legs in the water.

“I’m sorry for all the pain I’ve caused you,” Sasha says with regret.

“No, I can’t hold that against you when we were enemies on the battlefield. After all, I’ve caused you pain myself. We really did each other in,” Zeth replies.

Sasha smiles. “I’m glad the one that I have fallen in love with is also a worthy opponent. Let’s just call our battle a draw.”

Zeth smiles as well. “Well, I didn’t get my insides carved out and fed to your Hellhounds, so I would call that a victory.”

They both laugh, showing genuine happiness to each other.

Sasha continues washing Zeth’s back as she speaks. “So, what now? Where do we go from here?”

Zeth puts his right hand up to his chin as he replies. “To be honest, I’m not sure. I can’t imagine my mother, the Light Goddess, being thrilled that I’ve gotten close with the Princess of Darkness.”

Worry starts to spread across Sasha’s face. “I believe it would be the same on my end as well. That said, I’ve never really cared about my mother’s goals. All I’ve ever done is kill for my own amusement. This… This is something very different from what I’ve become accustomed to over my life. Maybe I don’t deserve to be—”

Zeth turns his head around and interrupts her. “People can change! I believe that.”

Sasha looks stunned as Zeth continues. “Don’t feel like you can’t change or that you don’t deserve something because of your past. If I can be your beacon of light, that would make me happy.”

Zeth stands up, facing Sasha with determination. “Come on, there was an abandoned mortal town that I passed by on my way to the battlefield. Let’s see if we can find some clothes.”

Sasha is in awe and puts her hand on her chest, feeling positivity swell inside her for maybe the first time ever.

In an aerial view of the battlefield, there is devastation to the environment, even more than just where Zeth and Sasha fought each other.

So, what was the result of the battle that took place? Neither side emerged victorious. After witnessing the forbidden embrace, both Pearl and Salina had their troops retreat. Are Zeth and Sasha about to find themselves in serious trouble?

Meanwhile in Heaven.

Pearl meets with Harmona in her office room. Harmona stares, eager to understand what happened.

“What happened down there!? Why is Zeth with the enemy!?” Harmona yells, demanding to know the answer.

“That’s what I was going to ask you!” Pearl urgently replies. “My goddess, you have the ability to look over the Earth, did you not see what happened!?”

“No,” Harmona answers. “Zenfaro’s unit encountered heavy enemy forces led by Hamura, and I had to assist in that battle all throughout the day and night until it ended this morning. And then when I finally checked on Zeth, I saw him with Dark Princess Sasha, and both of them are almost nude!”

“It gets worse!” Pearl says frantically. “In the evening hours yesterday, I witnessed them in a forbidden embrace! They were mating!”

Harmona’s eyes and mouth widen in horrifying shock so much that she might pass out. “You can’t be serious!!!”

“I am,” Pearl replies with a stern expression.

“What are you trying to suggest!?” Harmona asks with a loud voice.

Pearl narrows her eyes and brows. “Your son is a traitor. He’s a heretic. I can’t believe I’ve served under him all this time. I say we burn the heretic.”

Harmona hesitates. “But…”

“Don’t let your motherly instincts deceive you. He’s working with the enemy!” Pearl insists, her words carving through Harmona’s hesitation.

Harmona becomes silent, now deep in thought.

“Have you come to a conclusion?” Pearl asks.

Harmona looks Pearl straight in the eyes with a stern gaze. “I have. I want him captured alive for questioning. If he truly is working with the enemy… well… We will execute him, as much as I don’t want to do that to my own son.”

Meanwhile in Hell.

Salina meets with Dakame in her throne room. Dakame sits on her throne, listening to Salina’s report. Hamura is also in the room, standing next to the throne.

“What!!?” Dakame shouts. “Sasha was mating with the Light Prince!?”

“Yes, I saw with my own two eyes,” Salina replies.

Hamura stares, dumbfounded, her mouth slightly open. “That’s… That’s so unlike her. I can’t imagine she could just be seduced.”

“Whatever the reasoning, it doesn’t matter,” Dakame states. “She’s working with the enemy and therefore must be executed. The heretic will burn.”

Later that day on Earth.

Zeth and Sasha stand in an abandoned clothing store. Zeth is now wearing blue jeans and a long-sleeve gray button-up shirt. Sasha is wearing dark blue jeans and a green t-shirt.

“Well, we’re dressed now,” Zeth says. “Not too bad, I would say.”

“Now all we need to do is decide where we go now,” Sasha states. “I don’t think going back to our homes would be a good idea.”

“Yeah, we should probably lie low…. for… awhile…” Zeth suddenly stiffens as he realizes something. “Oh no… We need to get out of here!”

“What? What is it?” Sasha asks with concern.

“My mother has the power to overlook the Earth!” Zeth urgently replies. “She can find us here! Come on! Let’s go!”

Zeth grabs Sasha by her arm, and they start running out of the store.

In Heaven.

A large army of angels is marching and getting ready to go to Earth. Zaydra, Zenfaro, Grinton, Zentano, and Pearl are leading them. The angels are repeatedly chanting in unison, “Burn the heretic! Burn the heretic!” as they march. Every angel wears anger on their face.

***

In Hell.

A large army of demons is marching and getting ready to go to Earth. Hamura, Salina, Korobu, Zepto, and Gentorious are leading them. The demons are repeatedly chanting in unison, “Burn the heretic! Burn the heretic!” as they march. Fury covers the faces of every demon.

***

Zeth and Sasha run, visibly nervous as they try to get somewhere safe.

Narrator: Everyone on both sides has their sights set on taking down Zeth and Sasha because of their forbidden embrace! Can Zeth and Sasha survive? Or will their newfound love for each other be the end of both of them?
