Chapter 10:

"Split Paths in The Obelisk: Dragon and Signal Bars"

The Fifth Council

Left Side— Audaxor & Helwin

The Iron Dragon Golem, unleashed a massive fireball from its jagged mouth. The flames whirled forward like a comet.

Audaxor’s voice cut through the heat, “Dodge! It’s coming!” both he and Helwin leapt in opposite directions.

Audaxor tucked and rolled across the stone floor, the blast missing him by a hair’s breadth.

But Helwin—

He turned toward the fireball, icy mist swirling around his arm.

He raised an ice shield just in time. The flames struck it with a deafening boom, steam erupting into the air like a geyser.

The shield cracked under the heat, and Helwin’s eyes tightened as he held his ground.

When it was over, the shield melted into puddles at his feet. His hand trembled slightly.

“Bro, are you okay?” Audaxor called out, running to him.

Helwin looked down at his hand—

reddened, burned a little.

Helwin reassuringly said. “Don’t worry. Just a burn.”

Audaxor scowled. “We need to destroy its core—fast!”

Helwin’s eyes flicked toward the massive golem. Its chest—the core—was glowing faintly beneath its armored plates. The elemental energy surrounding it flared brighter with every passing second.

"If I miss this… it’ll absorb the attack too." Helwin thought.

He exhaled slowly, then brought his hands together.

A bow of crystalline ice formed in his grip—delicate, and deadly.

Audaxor, understanding without words. Raised his hand and summoned a dozen fire arrows, launching them to the edges of the corridor. Their flickering flames lit up the space and caught the golem’s attention.

It's head turning toward the false targets. One by one, it devoured the glowing arrows, absorbing their power.

 "Now!" Audaxor shouted a command.
Helwin took aim.

With a breath, he released the arrow.
It struck dead center—right into the exposed core.

For a moment, nothing happened.

Then—

CRACK!

Frost exploded from the impact, freezing the molten core in an instant.

The Iron Dragon Golem let out a mechanical wail before shattering like glass. Its parts fell in a clatter, steaming as the frozen heart thudded to the floor.

Helwin lowered his bow.

Audaxor clapped once, grinning. “Clean.”

Right Side— Bezkon & Jovino

“Can you hear me?! Jovino!” Bezkon shouted over the crackling of electric air.

“Yeah, yeah, I’m fine,” Jovino replied, slightly breathless.

Sparks flickered off the golem’s armor as it turned to face them.

“Its heart’s exposed,” Bezkon said quickly. “That’s the target.”

“So we just need to hit it?” Saying casually.

Bezkon getting ready. “I’ll keep it busy. You go for the kill.”

Bezkon sprinted, getting close trying to draw its attention. The beast roared, eyes glowing hotter as it turned to follow him.

Jovino knelt and placed both hands on the ground. “Alright, let’s try this…”

Stone cracked and rose beneath him, forming a long, sharpened spear. He pulled it free and held it in both hands.

He wound his arm back and threw.

The spear blasted forward, accelerating midair until it was a blur.

It slammed into the core.

Time stood still for a second—

Then the core shattered, and the golem let out a distorted groan. Its limbs froze mid-motion before collapsing like a puppet with cut strings.

Bezkon raised an eyebrow, impressed. “Nice shot!”

Jovino shrugged, brushing dust off his shoulder. “Anyways… let’s go forward.”

The two walked deeper into the corridor until they reached a turn. The path curved sharply to the right, and what lay beyond made both of them stop.

A massive spiral staircase extended upward, disappearing into darkness above.

“Guess we’re climbing,” Bezkon muttered.

Center — Shin’ō

Shin’ō wandered aimlessly, the strange corridor stretching endlessly ahead.

It was quiet.

 Too quiet.

And then—

“Wait…”

He stopped in place and slowly reached into his coat.

“I have my phone back!”

He blinked, almost in disbelief. “I totally forgot… because of how long it’s been.”
He quickly checked the screen.

Battery: 88%

Signal: 3 Bars

Data: Full

“Audaxor came in clutch…”
He smiled faintly and tapped the screen. “Why don’t I try calling them?”

[Call Connected – Group Call]

Jovino excited. “Yo bro! I got a call!”

Helwin confused “What?! Wtf—how is that even possible?!”

Shin’ō: “Um… hello?”

Jovino: “Hello?? Can you hear me?”

Helwin: “How do you even have signal down here?!”

Bezkon: “It is what it is.”

Audaxor: “Are you guys okay?”

Jovino: “Yup, we both are.”

Audaxor: “Same here.”

Helwin: “What kind of monster did you guys fight?”

Bezkon: “A metallic dragon monster. Big guy.”

Audaxor: “Huh. We fought the same thing.”

Shin’ō: “Wait… you guys fought monsters? I was just looking at art.”

Jovino: “Bro, how much data do you all have? I don’t have much left.”

Helwin: “I’ve got half.”

Shin’ō: “I have full data. I barely used it.”

Bezkon: “We need to regroup. We can’t keep talking like this—it’ll drain our connection.”

Audaxor: “Yeah. This is the first and last time. Let’s not waste it.”

Shin’ō: “Alright. Cutting the call now.”

[Call ended by Shin’ō.]

He slipped the phone back into his coat, a quiet smile on his lips.

“Man… I missed that.”
