Chapter 11:

"Split Paths in The Obelisk: Big Spider & Big Snake"

The Fifth Council

Middle— Shin'ō

Shin'ō wandered silently through the dusted remains of a civilization long past.

Shin'ō thinks. "I should take some pictures of these murals for later… Might help us piece things together."

Carefully, Shin'ō raised his phone, snapping photos of the ancient runes and fading murals lining the cracked stone walls.

After climbing a long flight of stairs, he entered a room that stretched endlessly ahead. On either side stood statues of stone knights holding weapons, all forgotten heroes of lost worlds, frozen in time—until...

Shin'ō stepped in—

The towering doors closed behind him—

The knights' heads creaked, eyes glowing faintly blue, and with the sound of ancient mechanisms grinding awake, they moved...

Left Side— Audaxor & Helwin

Helwin and Audaxor carefully stepped around a corner, entering a narrow path with shadows lurking above. Thin white threads clung to the walls and ceiling.

Audaxor annoyed “Ugh… These webs are getting thicker.”

Just as Audaxor said that, they turned another corner—and stopped. Before them was a nest, a massive webbed chamber. Thousands of skittering baby spiders crawled toward them in unison.

Audaxor in disbelief said “No way… This is an entire nest…”

Helwin clearly being grossed out “Burn them. Burn everything.”

Helwin covered the ground in a thick sheet of ice, halting the tide of crawling monsters. Audaxor raised his hands, flames roaring from his palms incinerating waves of spiders.

They barely had a moment to catch their breath before the floor quaked—and a massive mother spider descended from above, its legs glistening, eyes glowing red.

Right Side— Bezkon & Jovino

Bezkon and Jovino ascended cautiously, each step echoing with distant screeches.

Suddenly, sharp winds cut past them as serpents with leathery wings burst from nests clinging to the ceilings. The nests resembled the tangled homes of Sociable Weavers.

Bezkon getting ready to attack said. “Bro! Look out!”

Jovino instinctively raised a wall of stone to intercept a diving serpent, the creature slamming into it with a hiss. “I’ll defend! You attack!”

Jovino remembers and thinks "This feels just like the end towers from that old game we played…"

Using his stone magic to create walls, Jovino managed the battlefield. Bezkon, focused and precise, hurled crackling lightning spears one after another. The serpents screeched and spiraled downward, falling dead onto the steps.

They continued ascending, step after step, until finally—they reached the top. There, the air tremble, a colossal winged serpent tore through the largest nest...

Middle— Shin'ō

Shin'ō analyzing the situation and thinks. "Can I really beat them? One by one, it’s going to take too long. What if…?"

He took a deep breath and focused. Chanting a spell from a world far away. “Body Enhancement: Activate.”

His body pulsed as power surged through him—his speed increased, muscles strengthened, reflexes sharpened.

Shin'ō thinks getting ready to attack. "With this, I have greater speed, strength, durability, and stamina…"

He dashed forward and drove a punch straight into the stone knight’s chest, sending a sharp crack through its torso. The knight swung a massive arm in retaliation, but Shin’ō ducked and delivered a counterblow—shattering the statue into a pile of rubble.

Another came from the side, swinging a heavy stone sword. It struck Shin’ō, but the blunt blade barely grazed him. He stood firm.

“There’s too many of them to fight one-on-one. Let’s clean this up.” He thinks as he starts to gather energy into his hand.

He created a crimson orb that pulsed with chaotic magic.“Destruction Magic Type 1: MEGA BOOM!”

He hurled the orb and immediately ran back. As it landed, a wave of red light engulfed the room—and then exploded with a roar that shook the floor. Statues shattered. Limbs flew.

Still, a few fragments crawled forward, dragging broken bodies with sheer will.
“You guys just don’t quit…” Saying as he rushed forward, smashing the remaining statues piece by piece.

Soon, silence returned to the room—

except for his ragged breathing.

Shin'ō worn out, using his magic power too much. “Well… that was quick. I should… move… for—”

The enhancement magic faded, taking all his energy with it. Shin'ō collapsed onto the cold stone floor, now unconscious...
