Chapter 28:
My Telekinetic Office Lady Girlfriend Is Way Too Powerful!
It was a lively evening at an izakaya during a company party.
As usual, Ryoko and Shota sat side by side, with Ryoko casually keeping an eye on how much he was drinking. Shota chatted happily with his coworkers, clearly enjoying himself.
That’s when a girl approached their table.
Wearing a revealing, low-cut outfit and flashing a confident smile, she announced:
“Good evening~! How about a little magic for entertainment?”
She was a self-proclaimed magician, deftly twirling a deck of cards in her hand.
“Ooh, magic?”
Shota leaned in with interest, eyes locked on her hands.
“Please, pick a card!”
When Shota drew one, she instantly guessed it right.
“Whoa, how’d you do that!?”
His genuine reaction made Ryoko’s eyebrow twitch.
(Hmph. Just a sleight-of-hand trick. Clearly fake magic.)
Smiling proudly, the magician girl pulled out a silver coin and placed it on the table. The next moment—it floated gently into the air.
“Whoa!”
Shota’s eyes sparkled with surprise, while the magician girl winked mischievously at him.
“You’re pretty cute~ Want a private magic show that'll lift your spirits too? ♡”
CRACK!
Suddenly, the izakaya’s entrance slammed shut. Every sake bottle in the store floated into the air.
Customers gasped.
“Eek…!?”
The magician froze, eyes wide as she looked around, clearly panicked.
“Wh-What!? I didn’t set this up! This isn’t part of the act!?”
“Fufu~”
Ryoko gently swirled the wine in her glass, a glossy smile playing on her lips—as if to say: Let me show you the difference between a trick... and the real thing.
“Well, since we’re here, how about I show everyone a real magic trick? ♡”
With a flick of her fingers, the bottles floated higher and began to spin in midair.
Everyone in the izakaya stared, breathless.
The magician looked confused.
And then—she began to float.
“Wha—!? WHAAAAT!?”
The entire room lost it.
“She’s floating!?”
Hovering weightlessly, the magician girl spun slowly, as if in zero gravity.
“Wait… is this a trick?”
“I don’t see any wires or ropes!”
Ryoko tapped her wine glass with a finger. The glass floated, sliding smoothly across the table—landing perfectly in the magician’s hand.
“Wh-What is this…!?”
Her eyes widened in horror.
“See? Real magic—with no smoke, no mirrors. Impressive, right?”
Ryoko’s smile was gentle, but icy.
The magician girl trembled uncontrollably.
“P-Please let me down!”
“I thought you’d say that.”
With a graceful wave, Ryoko lowered her gently into a chair.
“This… this is impossible…”
The girl’s face went pale. Every customer stared, mouths agape.
“Now then, let’s clean up everyone's memories.”
Ryoko closed her eyes.
A moment later, everyone’s consciousness blurred for just a second.
When they came to, customers and staff alike looked around in confusion, as if wondering why they were even there.
—Except Shota.
“Hey, Ryoko-senpai…”
“Hmm?”
Shota looked around the room, then turned to Ryoko.
“Why didn’t you erase my memory?”
Ryoko smiled faintly.
“Because losing memories with you would hurt more than death.”
Shota’s eyes widened.
“That’s why I placed a special protection over your mind. No matter what powers I use, your memories will always stay intact—because our moments together are what I treasure most.”
Ryoko gently stroked his cheek.
“So… remember me, always, okay?”
Shota felt his heart clench.
“Of course, Ryoko-senpai.”
Ryoko smiled in contentment and took a sip of wine.
Watching her, Shota came to a renewed realization:
(Yeah… I’m never escaping her. Ever.)
And yet, strangely, his heart felt warm.

【Hours Later—Back at Their Apartment】Shota sat on the sofa with a bad feeling.
“…So, Ryoko-senpai. What kind of punishment am I getting today?”
Wearing a black gown like a stage magician, Ryoko smiled sweetly.
“Fufu~ Shota-kun, you sure are easily impressed by basic magic tricks, aren’t you?”
“W-Well, I just thought it was kinda neat…”
“Even though you’ve seen my powers, you still go ‘wow!’ for some other girl’s magic?”
“Ugh…”
She snapped her fingers. Click! The lights dimmed.
Candles lit up. A miniature stage appeared in front of him.
“Tonight’s show: Ryoko’s Private Magic Theater ♪”
“Wha—?”
“And for the main event: The Vanishing Ryoko Illusion!”
She stood before him and spread her arms.
“Keep your eyes on me. I’m going to vanish completely.”
“Wait, isn’t that seriously dangerous!?”
“Maybe ♡”
With a light wave, Ryoko floated into the air.
“Wha!?”
“Now… I’ll disappear.”
And then—shhhh...
Her body dissolved into mist.
“HUH!?”
She was gone.
Shota rubbed his eyes—no trace. No presence.
“R-Ryoko-senpai…? Where are you?”
No reply.
“Come on! Stop messing around!”
He jumped up, pacing the room.
“Seriously, come back!!”
Still nothing.
Then—
“Ah…”
A pang in his chest.
(What… is this…?)
Tears welled up in his eyes.
(Why do I feel so… empty…?)
“Ryoko-senpai… why aren’t you here…?”
An overwhelming sense of loneliness crushed him.
“Ryoko-senpai!!”
Finally, tears streamed down his face.
“Fufu ♡ So cute ♡”
A voice behind him.
He spun around. Ryoko stood there, smiling.
“Ryoko-senpai!!”
He leapt into her arms.
“Don’t leave me like that…!”
“There, there ♡ Good boy ♡”
She hugged him, gently stroking his hair.
“That was the ‘Cry When You Can’t See Ryoko’ Curse.”
“You’re cruel… that was awful…!”
“Sorry~ But I didn’t like seeing you so impressed by that magician girl.”
Still teary-eyed, Shota shook his head.
“I won’t be impressed by anyone else’s magic ever again…”
“Really~?”
“Really… Ryoko-senpai’s magic is the most amazing.”
“Good boy ♡ Very good boy ♡”
She hugged him tight, patting his back lovingly.
“This curse will last a little while~ So keep your eyes on me, okay?”
“…Okay…”
And so, Shota clung to her warmth—wrapped in her arms and her magic.
