Chapter 2:

Baal 1

Collapse of the Gods

First I feel warmth filling my body, then I hear a calling telling me to come out from the darkness I found myself in. I feel myself restrained, or maybe encapsulated would be a better description, it is as if my body was contained in a position and I can’t move. I tense my arms and hands realizing they are powerful, even without having memories to compare to, there is something inside me letting me know I’m strong. Starting with my arms and legs I push outwards to free myself and almost immediately whatever envelopes me starts to crack.

I fall a short distance and land on the ground. I look at my hands, they are large and my skin looks thick and is colored bronze. I touched my head and found 2 large horns coming out of my forehead which almost immediately curved upwards. I grab them and they feel firm. I like my body, it fits my personality.

I look around me and see I am in a large room with a floor of black marble, in the center of the room there is a tree made of golden threads of light and at the end of its branches are clay molds of different sizes. I look around me and find myself alone despite the large size of the room, although this loneliness lasts only a couple of seconds. I hear a crack coming from up over me, I look up and see one of the clay molds cracking open. From it fell a woman taller than myself, her skin was a deep blue like a lapis lazuli stone and her eyes vivid red like blood. Although she was thin, her muscles looked firm and strong. Her eyes had a challenging look on them, like she was looking for any excuse to fight. I decided to accept her challenge and approach her.

As soon as I enter within her kicking range, she strikes me with her right leg, hitting me on the side of the face. It impacted with a monstrous might, I almost felt my head dislocating from my neck, but I managed to hold my ground. When her foot was back on the ground, I answered by punching her square in the center of her face with all my strength. She didn't try to dodge it, even though I'm sure she saw it coming. Nor did she move upon impact despite the fact that I hit her as hard as I could. It is awe inspiring how she doesn't show any pain or fear.

As I retrieve my arm I see her smug smile directed at me. It is covered in a thin smudge of silver blood that came out of her nose. Then she says "I'm called Anath, a goddess of warfare. What's your name?". I reply "My name is Baal, a god of storm. I must say, your strength is impressive. I hope all our fellow gods are as respectable as you". She makes a short chuckle and while turning to look at the clay molds still in the tree, she says "No one is equal to me... although, you are quite close". As she finished speaking several other clay molds started to crack.

Hundreds of gods now surround us, everyone with a different shape from one another. Some of them look decently powerful, although none as much as Anath. I wonder why our maker would allow such mediocre gods to exist. We are supposed to be at the top of the world, someone who can't defend their claims to authority has no right to call themselves my equal. Anyway, I'll present myself to those who seem powerful, I want to know the names of the ones I'll keep an eye on.

After meeting all the goods that seemed worthy I found Anath sleeping on the ground, with a face that screams boredom. I kind of understand her disposition but I think at least I should try to interact with my fellow gods, even if none look as strong as her. I wonder why even among other gods of war, she alone exudes this aura of strength and danger. Is as if she in particular was made to be the embodiment of direct aggression.

As I'm lost in my thoughts, I see a light coming from a tunnel far in the distance. It becomes increasingly brighter by the second, blinding all of us. Then, we see her, our maker, a being so tall I shouldn't be bigger than one of their nails. Just being near her makes my chest compress. That's what a king among gods must look like, imposing.

Our queen and maker opens her arms and says “my vassals, you are to shape the world we have created. Make it a realm worthy of us to govern over. Each one of you knows what you can do to improve the land. You have discretion on how to achieve your goals. Once life can be sustained we will start the next phase of the plan”. All of us just bow in respect, then they replied “Good, also, remember to look at the sky when you are to make an offering prayer, that's where the divine lies”.

The sun goddess opens a golden portal and tells us “pass through, the other 2 god kings are waiting for you to visit them”. I intended to be the first in line but then I saw another god, one with lush curly ginger hair and skin of white marble stone, cutting me in line. He is one of the strong ones whose name I memorized, Reos, another god of storm. I'll challenge him later to see if he is as good as he likes to act like.

After crossing the golden portal, I see 2 gigantic figures in front of us. They are as big as our maker and look just as strong. Then I feel a primal urge like chains that pulled me down to kneel in fear before these 2 great beings. Just how great is the difference in power between the god kings and me.
