Chapter 4:
Betrayal Is A Step To Success.
As both Kai, and Roman step outside to train, Sophia is looking out the window, admiring Roman and his muscular body, she seems to be deeply in love.
Going back to Kai and his mentor, Roman starts off by saying.
“We will start off by questions, ask me anything!” Roman seems excited to be teaching a great talent like Kai.
“I have been reading books about magic for quite a while, but it didn’t mention anything about how to appraise your opponents power.” Kai asks.
“Well that kind of information isn’t in the kind of books you read,” Roman says, as he pulls out a small red book
“you were only reading books about the basics of magic, this right here has the advanced information.” Roman then starts to look through the pages until he stops, and turns the book around so Kai can see.
“These are called Mage ranks.” Roman points to the page with a list of ranks from highest to lowest.
- Grand Mage
- Emperor
- King
- Master
- Expert
- Intermediate
- Beginner
“These ranks are used to rank the power of someone’s magic, and from what I heard you should be a high rank beginner or a low rank intermediate, but either way that’s great!”
“What rank are you sir?” Kai asks.
Roman’s eyes widened with excitement as he says “I’m a low rank expert.” He says with a proud face.
“Woooow” Kai says while clapping, Roman smiles, clearly liking the attention.
“Now lets see how actually strong you are,” Roman gets up “shoot a water ball at um… that tree over there.”
As soon as he finishes his sentence, the water ball grazes his face, going towards the tree he just pointed at, as he turns around to look at the tree, he sees it being cut in half.
“What…” Roman looks completely dumbfounded seeing Kais strength.
“Is there something wrong?”
“no, no, its nothing…” Roman then thinks to himself “this kid must be at least a medium level Intermediate! And at only 4 years old, this kid could surpass me in only a couple of years!”
“So whats next Mister?” Kai asks.
“Well is this the only magic type you can use?”
“Um, i didn’t try anything else yet.”
“Then lets get to work you have a lot ahead of you!” Roman says, his face happy as ever finding something that he can finally teach to Kai.
2 years later
2 years later, Kai is now 6 years old but he has grown quite a bit, his muscles are defined and strong, he’s 5ft 6 which impressive for his age, and his hand to hand combat has been incredibly improved.
He’s seen with is mentor, Roman, perfectly synchronizing attacks, showing that Kai has finally reached the level of Roman, but not in magic, he can beat Roman, but his magic is still below him now reaching high level Intermediate.
“It seems like you have finally surpassed me,” Roman lowers his guard “and i have nothing more to offer, so I would like to congratulate you on graduating.”
“Well it was only about time I beat your old ass.” Kai laughs.
“Hey! Im only 17 kid!” Roman says “But wow you have truly surpassed my expectations Kai,” Roman pauses and brings out a shining sword “this for you.” He hands it to Kai.
Kai accepts it with out hesitation, while also showing gratefulness for this gift “Wow this sword is truly one of a kind”
“Yeah, it wasn’t cheap so I expect you to take care of it!” Roman says “But anyways its been a long journey, and it has come to an end.”
Roman turns his back to Kai “See you soon…or never.” Roman walks away, leaving Kai with what could be the last thing he could remember him with.
