Chapter 3: Misjudged

Kai wakes up on the bed, his father Alfred, and his mom Sophia, both sitting next to him, then Sophia says.

“Well well well, you finally woke up.” Sophia says, Kai looks concerned, and a bit scared by how his mom was talking, then says.

“Yeah, I woke up…” And then they all went silent, until his mother suddenly hugs him excitedly and says.

“Oh my god sweetie, I'm so proud of you!” Kai is completely confused

“What?”

“You should have told me you could use magic, why wouldn't you tell me!” Sophia pouts a little, then his father Alfred comes in with a proud look on his face and says.

“Seems like you know a thing or two about magic, you little rascal.”

“Yeah,” Kai says with a small chuckle.

Alfred then says to Kai “Well since you can use magic i guess it's only appropriate to get you a mentor, he can teach you a couple of things, and you can maybe discover your affinity.”

“Affinity you say? I didn't learn about that in any book.” Kai questions.

“Yeah… well its considered something that everybody knows, it’s a thing that parents tell their kids when they learn magic, but we didn't expect you to learn it this fast!” Alfred says.

5 Days After The Recent Events

A strange cloaked man is walking towards Kai’s house, as he comes closer, he removes his cloak, beneath the strange cloak, there is a young man, about 15 years old, he then says “Is this the right house?”


The scene shifts to Sophia preparing breakfast for Kai, and Alfred, she then hears knocking on the door, and she walks hurriedly to answer.

“Coming!”

As he waits for Sophia to open the door he says to himself “These parents really think their son is something by launching a simple water ball, what idiots!”

Sophia then opens the door, she is greeted with the young man's bright smile, bowing slightly “Greetings, you must be miss Miller if I'm not mistaken?”

“Yes” She says, completely flustered at the young man's handsome face, staring at him deeply, the young man is confused and asks.

“Miss, are you okay?”

Struggling to find her next words, Sophia stutters “Y-yes, come in,”

As both Sophia and Roman sit down for a cup of tea, Sophia breaks the silence.

“So you must be Roman, am I right?”

“Yes, I came here by mister Alfred’s request to mentor Kai, who I presume is your son.”

“Correct, you should find him in the attic upstairs.”

Roman stands up, heading towards the stairs to find Kai, as he reaches the room, he knocks politely.

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK

“Come in.” Kai says, Roman then opens the door, and finds Kai reading a book, Roman looks at him, and just as Kai was about to talk, Roman burst out laughing in front of his face.

“What? Is there something on my face?” Kai checks his face for anything that might be on it, but Roman answers.

“No its just that…” Roman pauses for a moment then continue “you’re very short” Roman laughs again, unable to contain his laughter.

Kai is absolutely confused.

“What?”

Roman continues to laugh as he says “its okay little man, its not your fault.”

“Im only 4 years old do you expect me to be as tall as you?”

“Hold on what?” Roman is now also confused because he thought the guy he was gonna mentor was just some no life who was able to launch a water ball, and his parents thought he was something amazing.

“Oh I get it now you must be Kai’s little brother.”

“What are you talking about! Im Kai!” Kai says furiously because he underestimated him from his looks.

After finding out that the man who he thought was just a guy that didn’t know anything about magic, is instead a 4 year old that has the mana capacity and knowledge to launch a water ball, Roman looks absolutely mesmorized.

“Wow… that’s amazing…” He says while clapping slowly, looking completely dumbfounded.

“Well its time to go outside to train, follow me!” Roman regaining his focus says.
