Chapter 6:

Chapter 6: History (Part 1/4)

The World Of Trace And Kat

Katherine grunted with effort, lifting Ivy off the ground. "Why are you so...ugh...heavy?" She asked grumpily as she hauled her 17 year old sister to her feet. "You know the answer to that, coz I'm older than you." Ivy said, frowning at Katherine. "By three minutes!" Katherine said with a pout. "Hey guys! Look what I found!" Max said with a smile, leaping over a fence. He held up a long pipe. "What is that?" Ivy asked, brushing herself off. "No idea, but it's metal." Max replied, he walked up to the duo. Katherine frowned. "How is a metal pole gonna help us get to the city?" Katherine asked, jabbing her walking stick into the ground. Max gave her a frown in return. "Well, Ivy can use it as a walking stick." Max said, holding it out to Ivy, she took it gratefully, putting her weight on it. "Yeah, I offered her mine earlier." Katherine said with a shake of her head, just because Ivy and Max were engaged didn't mean they had to shut her out.

Suddenly there was a crash in the woods, Katherine whirled around, baring her fangs as another Kadrien walked out of the woods, also baring their teeth, two more soon followed. One lunged at Katherine, but she sidestepped him, raking her claws down his side, splattering her hand with blood, he tumbled to the ground sputtering curses as she leapt over another attacker, using her back as a launch pad to flip off of. She landed directly infront of the third, the third pulled out a knife, Katherine grabbed her stick out of the ground, blocking the wolf's slash with the stick, using it as a bo-staff she whacked him in the head with it, causing him to stumble backwards, the knife was still lodged into the stick as Katherine shoved the pointed end of her stick at the wolf, stopping it inches from his eye, he had his hands up, obviously now scared of her. She growled at him, not even breathing hard.

"Damn..." Max breathed, not having gotten a chance to react. "Maybe I dated the wrong sister..." He said jokingly. Ivy smacked him in the arm, looking offended. "What? I'm joking, I love you, you know that." He said softly, hugging her gently.

Katherine glared at the wolf infront of her. Then he did the unexpected, he decided to flirt with her. "That was kinda hot." He said, giving her a smile. Katherine blushed and took a step back, anger flashing in her eyes. She pulled his knife out of her stick. "Call me hot again, dumbass, and I'll gouge out your damn teeth." She hissed, pointing the blade at his face. She jabbed the blade into the tree he had backed up against, turning around and heading back for Ivy and Max, the wolf she had clawed growled at her as she passed, but she didn't flinch, instead she growled back, he whimpered and ran back to the other wolf. The other wolf, the female, gave Katherine a weak smile, picking herself up off the ground.

"Who are you three?" Max asked them, once Katherine had gotten back over to them. "You guys first, especially you cutie." The wolf Katherine had threatened said, giving Katherine another smile, and nod. She growled and went to go tear him to shreds but Max grabbed her arm, stopping her. "Tell me, or I'm letting her have free reign to do what she wants." Max threatened, knowing that threat of another beatdown by Katherine would get them to talk. "Woah, no need to be rash. I'm Xander, this is Felix, and Mila." The middle one, Xander, said quickly. "Your turn." Xander said, nodding at Max. "I'm Max. The girl that whooped your butts is Katherine, and this is my fiancé Ivy." He said, Katherine growled at Xander as he gave her a once over. "Don't even think about it bub." She snarled, baring her teeth at him. He took a step back. "I wasn't." Xander said, giving Katherine a smile.

"Where are ya'll headed?" Xander asked, curiousity in his hazel gaze. Katherine is the one that answered. "The human city, tired of the country." She said, taking a step closer. Xander also stepped forward. "Well, what if we went with you? I doubt you alone can protect these other two forever." Xander offered, no malice in his eyes, but Katherine thought he was fishy. "No thanks, we'll take our chances." She said cooly, pushing past him and his friends. "C'mon Max, Ivy." She said, stopping when they didn't fall in behind her, she turned to look at them, walking back over to them. "What the hell are you guys doing?" She whispered. Max frowned. "C'mon Katherine, we could use their help, Ivy won't make it without frequent rests, we're still miles away, and it's getting dark, plus, I hate to say it, but, Xander is right. You can't keep taking watch every time we stop, you're going to collapse." Katherine frowned back, looking at Ivy to see her reaction, sighing when Ivy made no objections. "Damn it guys, you can't be serious! They attacked us the moment they walked out of the woods, and Felix seems to have an itchy trigger finger. We can't trust them!" Katherine argued, keeping her voice low so Xander and his buddies couldn't listen in. "Why don't we give them a shot?" Max suggested, giving Katherine a pleading look. She sighed. "Fine, but if they step one foot out of line, they won't have any feet left." She said with a hiss, there was danger in her eyes. Max nodded, accepting her condition.

She turned and looked at Xander and his companions. "Fine, you can come with us, but you do what I say, when I say it, if I tell you to roll in the mud, you do it, or I'm cutting off toes, got it?" She said, sounding more like a drill sergent than a 17 year old Kadrien girl. Xander and his companions readily agreed, glad she wasn't trying to murder them at the moment. Katherine huffed and crossed her arms. "Good, let's move." She said, leading the way through the woods, Ivy, now that she'd rested, was good as new and able to keep up with the pace Katherine was setting, but Xander, Felix, and Mila were having a little trouble.

"That knife was just for show wasn't it?" Katherine asked as she yanked Xander out of a ditch. He chuckled, gazing up at her. "Or maybe I just wanted you to touch my hand." He teased, a soft smirk playing across his face. Katherine let go of his hand, letting him fall back into the dip. Xander scrambled out of the ditch. "Why do you hate me so much?" He asked, falling into step behind her. "I don't hate you. I'm just tired of your incessant flirting." Katherine said, her expression softening slightly. Xander frowned. "You really dislike it that much?" He asked, his voice soft. She nodded. "It gets on my nerves." She admitted, helping him over a log, that's when Felix yelled...
