Chapter 493:

Iori Ishikiridokoro vs Interpol

En Passant Grandmaster

Everyone stared in horror as Barrdhubh twitched on the ground. Blood had begun to ooze out of her head and form a puddle around her.

"NO MORE! Why must we cheat EVERY round!? Every game, every round, IT'S NOT RIGHT! And you hold my daughter hostage, the NERVE!" Ginji shouted as loud as he could.

"Ginji Inohara, you are going to need to provide substantial proof that the entire team has been cheating," Raymond glared as he approached Ginji.

"Then take no more proof than this. I was ordered to slug her as she had collected all the evidence... which is right here," Ginji stated as he appeared to swipe a USB drive from Barrdhubh's breasts. "This here has it all. Everything!"

"As if. The only cheater here is you. You just resigned on the spot and immediately went and slugged that girl," Okisato glared.

"And there's the ring leader! And serial cheater. Did you know he's got an engine feed in his contacts? They all do!"

Okisato clenched his fist and prepared to give Ginji two black eyes, but was stopped by Prokrutka.

"Let me check you all."

"Go ahead. Ginji's full of it. In fact, he injured Hobou-san to the point where he couldn't play so we'd be forced to field him. Yet he's been sabotaging us left and right. I say we should be granted wins for all his losses.

"I lost those of free will, though some were to protest YOUR cheating," Ginji scowled.

Seeing a things were going nowhere, Raymond stepped in to give an ultimatum. He and the arbiters would carefully review everything, and if proof of cheating was discovered, Japan's men's team would be disqualified. But if nothing of the sort was found, the results would stand.

"And there it is. Now things are in my palm. I had that footage made with a DESPER, so it'll be impossible to deem it a deep fake, DESPER tech is just that good! And better, the whores will have their own problems to deal with," Ginji manically thought as he stormed out of the playing hall and pulled out his phone.

...

Iori trembled as she found herself surrounded by Interpol agents.

"You dun thought we'd never catch ya. But we dun digging n' found ye're a dun mass muderin' murderer," Virgina scowled.

"Iori Ishikiridokoro... It all lines up. The killings, the motive, the timeline, and with this definitive proof, we'll get you the fastest death sentence possible," Kaede smirked.

A somber smile appeared on Iori's face. "I knew it. I kept having nightmares about this... Sorry Oki-kun, I wanted to at least die with your babies inside me, but I can't even get that. I guess... this was always going to happen to me," Iori thought as she was bound in a straight jacket and gagged.

Ever since the day Iori's mother and sister died, Iori had long since feared in the back of her mind that she'd be caught one day. At the time, it wasn't an issue, but now that she had friends and a guy she liked, the void she had when her mother and sister died had been filled, but at the same time, it made Iori all the more desperate to cling to life. All her troubles had begun many years ago when she was just 3 years old...

In their youth, Iori's parents were bullies, though had matured to adulthood. However, one of their bullying victims, Rio Segawa, was not content with letting bygones be bygones. Upon his election to prefectoral governor, he quickly began exacting revenge against those that wronged him. As a result, Iori's father was arrested and executed within prison per Segawa's secret orders.

This led to Iori taking up the mantle of a murderer as a means of both training up to eventually kill Segawa and to worsen his image by instilling fear in the populace he governed. This led to her gaining an addiction to murder and developing sadistic tendencies, but whenever she got home to her mom and sister, her human heart returned. All this was for them. The killings yielded both money for her and negativity for Segawa, who still continued to harass her family with legal pressure.

Then came that fateful day at the teahouse...

Iori was in her third year of middle school and had scored a part-time job at a teahouse frequented by Segawa. This allowed her to set things up for Segawa to suffer an excruciatingly painful death. The only problem was Segawa forced Iori's mother and sister to accompany him.

Internally, Iori was screaming to try and warn her family, but she realized that if she let anything slip, the plan would fail, she'd go to jail, and her family would suffer even more. Holding her tongue proved to be just as horrific for her. It started with everyone coughing up blood, then their bones began melting from within causing skin and muscle to rot off as it disintegrated to fleshy gloop. Since everyone was moving around frantically in pain, the scene was greatly reminiscent of what happened to those killed by Deep Blue. Once the three were dead, the fire Iori planned was initiated, destroying all the evidence and the gruesome sight of the corpses. While Iori followed the plan perfectly, it had gone wrong in the worst way possible for her.

Ever since then, she was unsure of what to do until Mimoko reached out to offer her a ray of light. Since then, everything was brighter for Iori, yet in the back of her mind, she knew the day would come when she'd be judged for her crimes. She thought she had made peace with the fact, but now that she was in love with Okisato, the thought of being imprisoned and likely executed soon after, terrified her.

"No... I haven't even had sex with Oki-kun... Mimo-chan, everyone... Sorry, I won't be here for the sweep," Iori thought as the agents began to lead her away.

Clonk!

The agents scowled as they noticed their path blocked by Raymond.

"You expect that you can just remove one of the chess world's rising stars without any right to do so?"

Misty glared as she stepped forth to stare down Raymond. "She's a mass murderer. We're arresting her-"

"Then you'll have to beat her in-"

"LIKE HELL! This world... This world is at the mercy of your chess tyranny! Convicted war criminals are allowed to run free so long as they keep winning in chess, countless countries have been upended by chess being the end-all to problem solving. You think we'll risk letting another murderer go if she wins a game of chess!? Fuck you! Virginia, Amira, take- UGh!?"

But Raymond had already taken everyone out.

"Now, let me ask you this. Shall I imprison you in the WWCF's holding facility for the month, or shall you agree to either play the chess match or let Iori Ishikiridokoro go?" Raymond asked as he slammed the butt of his cane inches away from Misty's face.

Misty wanted to stick to her convictions, but logically, the best move for everyone was to let Iori go. Interpol lacked the chess talent to beat her in a game, and if everyone was imprisoned for a month, it would prevent them from handling other threats, thus letting Iori go was the best course of action.

"Remember this; one day we will manage to arrest you, and when we do, we'll take you straight to the electric chair, no chess offered to try and reverse things," Misty glared as Iori was released.

"Then better find a way to resurrect Mika, cuz she's the only one that can just kill me whenever," Iori thought as she stormed away.
