Chapter 497:
En Passant Grandmaster
Back at the hotel, Okisato's match against Ginji had finally begun. The match started off with chess with Okisato opening by moving his pawn to e4, and Ginji moving his knight to c6.
"Fuck you, Ginji," Okisato glared as he slammed his king down on e2.
"Oki-chwan, you think my deliberate performance in the tournament reflects my skill? You just gave me an easy win from the start! Check!" Ginji cackled as he moved his knight to d4.
"First time I've seen anyone play that," Okisato grumbled as he moved his king back to e1.
"I did it because I can, and it still keeps me winning," Ginji chuckled as he moved his pawn to d5.
As much as Okisato didn't want to admit it aloud, Ginji was right. He still had an edge, and would continue to have an edge after pawn e5 and pawn f6 were played. Pawn c3 and knight c6 further enforced the point, but when Okisato moved his bishop to b5, Ginji got a little too hasty and moved his pawn to a6.
"And now, everything's in my court. Check," Okisato smirked as he captured the knight at c6 with his bishop.
"An exchange doesn't change a thing," Ginji scoffed as he captured said bishop with his b-pawn.
Okisato silently smirked and shrugged as he moved his knight to f3.
"Trying to act cool? You're nothing but a little bitch boy," Ginji taunted as he captured the pawn at e5 with his f-pawn.
Okisato simply captured said pawn with his knight.
"Oi, oi, don't be such a feisty silent BITCH!" Ginji cackled as he slammed his queen down on d6.
"If you want to talk about bitches, I hear your daughter you claimed we kidnapped was actually arrested for corruption about a year ago, but managed to break out and go into hiding. If anything, those Interpol agents you dragged into this would probably bag her the first second they see her," Okisato scoffed as he moved his pawn to d4.
"Oh I didn't do anything with them. That was just a nice little coincidence that lined my pockets with gold," Ginji shrugged as he moved his pawn to g6.
"Then how about a bigger question; why not compete for glory and try your best, rather than sabotage us and drop rating points?" Okisato glared as he moved his bishop to f4.
"Huh? Why would I want you to win? The satisfaction of keeping you down is what ultimately gains me clout in Deep Blue. Elo is something I can just buy back anyway," Ginji smirked as he moved his knight to f6.
"Pure vainglory. I can't wait until the bell rings," Okisato growled as he moved his queen to a4.
"You think this'll be a repeat of Kamoshida? I'm not a sex-crazed moron like him," Ginji scoffed as he moved his knight to d7.
"In some ways, you're worse, but I think sadly that piece of shit is still lower than you, slightly, on the morality scale," Okisato scowled as he moved his knight to d3.
"Why would I care about your morality scale?" Ginji chuckled as he moved his queen to f6.
"Never asked you to, but I thought I'd just mention how I'm making sure to improve on the mistakes I made with that piece of shit. You're in for real hell when this is over," Okisato glared as he moved his knight to d2.
"Kyah, scary, scary. You're just a shivering little bunny trying to act tough before I rip your throat out," Ginji snickered as he moved his queen to h4. "AH! NO!"
Ding! Ding! Ding!
Color began to vanish from Ginji's face as a big malicious grin spread across Okisato's face.
"Look at that, you blundered at the perfect time. Now since you were making a point about me being a rabbit, I have to ask if you've ever seen Monty Python or not?" Okisato snickered as he cracked his knuckles.
"The hell is that- BLUGH!?"
"If you watched it, you'd know rabbits are killer creatures," Okisato grinned as he got in the first punch of the boxing portion.
"Foul! Bell didn't- BLUGH!?"
"Rules state that the rounds begin without break. Bells only ring to signify round change," the robotic voice of the DESPER echoed on the loudspeaker.
"Damn useless- GUBLUGH!"
"Thought you said you weren't like Kamoshida, so why are you getting sandbagged like him?" Okisato taunted as he continued to pummel Ginji mercilessly.
He even came close to KO'ing him, but Ginji just barely clung to the ropes to claw his way back to standing position, with the bell ringing just before Okisato could get another punch in.
"Too bad, Oki-chwan. Now I win this," Ginji nervously chuckled as he staggered over to the chessboard.
"I'd like to see you try from this position," Okisato smirked as he captured the pawn at c6 with his queen.
"Your queen's mine, that's how!" Ginji cackled as he moved his bishop to b7. "NO!"
"Guess I bounced your brain around enough to make you play just like how you did this whole tournament. SERVES YOU RIGHT!" Okisato sadistically shouted as he captured the bishop at b7 with his queen.
"IT'S NOT OVER!" Ginji fumed as he slammed his rook down on c8.
"Getting close to it," Okisato snickered as he captured the pawn at d5 with his queen.
"I got your queen trapped!" Ginji cackled as he began to sway from side to side while moving his knight to b6.
"Think you might even fall face-first on the board. That would be poetic. Check," Okisato chuckled as he moved his queen to c6.
"WHO DO YOU THINK I AM!?" Ginji roared as he slammed his king down on d8.
"Fucked. Check," Okisato grinned as he captured the pawn at c7 with his bishop.
"Huh... No. No, NO, NO, NO, NO! THIS CAN'T BE! I'M ELITE! ELITE! I'M THE RICHEST- HUH!?" Ginji cried as his hand began moving on his own. "No! STOP! Oki-chwan, how about a nice peaceful draw. I'm just a peace-loving Buddhist, so the ways of war and vengeance are against my beliefs. Please show compassion," he pleaded as he was forced to move his king to c8.
"No. Fuck you, Ginji. Checkmate, bitch boy," Okisato snickered as he captured the knight at b6 with his bishop, winning the game.
No sooner did he do so did Ginji faint from the shock and faceplant into the board, sending pieces scattering as his blood oozed all over the board.
"Poetic. Now I get a free ride to the venue," Okisato thought as the scenery returned to normal.
Ginji was immediately warped away to the WWCF holding facility while Okisato found himself warped to the front of the playing hall.
"Only 10 minutes in. I made great time," Okisato thought as he ran inside.
