Chapter 12:
Engulfed in Darkness - Becoming a Villain in Another World (Part II)
"Come on Hiroshi. You can do better."
"Don't trust the Ardor of Darkness."
"Don't trust anyone other than yourself. We need you more than they do."
Hiroshi covered his ears and put his head on the table. Those damn voices wouldn't leave him alone. Even Kuro-Yami, who could hear all of his thoughts, couldn't listen in on these particular voices. Hiroshi banged his head on the table and sighed deeply in dismay.
It was the next day. Bibi had gone off to research inside Number One's memory while in her makeshift lab. Tomokazu and Wisteria weren't talking to him at all. He hadn't seen them since he shouted at them, which was strange, since Tomokazu lived with Hiroshi. Was it because he was getting closer to Bibi? Jealously? Or did they think Bibi deserved a worse punishment?
Although he was less paranoid than before, Hiroshi was still scared of Bibi's rash nature, and if she could do any real damage to him or not if things went bad.
Hiroshi's train of thought was broken by a knock on the door. He got up slowly and opened it, and the woman that greeted him twirled her brown hair, her old personality back in full flow. Hiroshi offered Bibi inside, and she laid down on her back on his couch.
"Make yourself comfortable, I guess," Hiroshi chuckled, sitting down on his 'thinking chair' in the opposite corner. The chair creaked under his weight, probably due to the amount of times he used it a day.
"Feeling any better, Bibi?" Hiroshi asked, looking deep into her eyes, looking for lies or deceit.
"I feel great now!" Bibi exploded suddenly, her eyes beaming with light and color. Hiroshi allowed himself a small smile. That was more like Bibi alright. "You should have seen the findings I found in that tin can's brain!"
"Well? Can you tell me them please?" Hiroshi asked politely, to which Bibi responded with an exaggerated laugh.
"Why of course you can, old buddy!"
"I'm literally younger than you."
"Shut up! That's not what I meant!"
Hiroshi smirked to himself. As much as Bibi was over the top, he prefered it over depressed, crying Bibi. She began giggling without control like a schoolgirl caught in a lie, and sat upright, making direct eye-contact with Hiroshi.
"Anyway, I found out a lot of information before that Number One terminated itself. It exploded in my face. The whole body. Unfortunately, I couldn't find out anything on my father," she said in a disappointed tone. "Even though they knew of him, my father definitely had the intelligence to make a clone where he was cut from their memories."
"Wait, you said it was terminated?! And it blew up!" Hiroshi's voice pitched higher in concern, but Bibi waved her hands frantically. "Are you alright?! Hurt anywhere?"
"Yes it did! But I was fine! I knew that it was about to go off!" Bibi said with a giggle. She really liked it when Hiroshi played the 'worried big brother role'. "Teleportation gauntlets can come in handy sometimes... my father must have realized that we beat Number One, and terminated it so that we couldn't learn of it's secrets... however I still found out a load of fascinating information about them!"
Hiroshi nodded, and didn't say a word, allowing Bibi to continue her explaination, which she did with haste.
"Firstly, they call themselves the Desecrators. To desecrate means to treat something sacred with serious disrespect...like an Ardor prehaps. The rest of them have your face too. I seen them all talking to each other after their mission brief. There was eight in total, so there are seven left."
Hiroshi laid back in his chair. Even though he beat Number One with relative ease, knowing that there was seven left, with much more power than the first one, made him a little uneasy.
"So what is their goal, Bibi? Did you at least find that out before it self destructed?" Hiroshi asked hopefully, and he was glad to see Bibi's smile get even wider than before.
"Of course I did Hiroshi! I wouldn't let you down would I?" She exclaimed in excitement. However, her voice turned serious almost instantly with her next sentence. "You might not like it though."
"Why not?"
"They are going to be used to frame you. Simply put, their 'fake goal' is to try and kill the Ardors themselves, but all will have your face on them."
"Why would that matter? We already told the world we were going to do that anyway?" Hiroshi questioned, very confused at their objective.
"Actions speak louder than words, Hiroshi. Also...they are going to go to random towns and just, well, wipe them off the map."
Hiroshi froze, a deathly shiver crawling up his spine. Innocent lives? No...he couldn't let that happen. Not with the whole world watching, and especially not with seven other people flying around with his face.
"Wait...why am I panicing about this? I thought this is what I wanted. To become a villain and prove the whole world wrong. That I could unite the world in hating me. Why am I suddenly so scared of being liked?" Hiroshi thought to himself, wiping his brow with his hand, sweat beading off it.
"Because you want to be hated on your own terms, not some imposters doing all your dirty work," Kuro-Yami piped up inside Hiroshi's mind, giving him a fright. "It would be too easy for them to do everything. Let's show the world OUR power, not their's."
Hiroshi nodded in agreement. At least he had a motive to work towards. He was starting to feel empty. Did he want to be a villain? Did he want to kill the Ardors? He kind of liked just being around people that made him smile.
Was it going to be worth it in the end?
His train of thought was once again interrupted by a harsh knock on the door. Hiroshi jumped up and open it.
A very angry looking Wisteria and Tomokazu were there to greet him.
