Chapter 1:
Quiet Seat, Loud Heart
It was a normal afternoon. The canteen was filled with the sound of chairs dragging, spoons clinking, laughter echoing across groups of friends.
You sat at your usual spot — a quiet corner table, near the window. Your lunch tray sat untouched for a while. You weren’t really hungry. Just tired. Just existing.
No one noticed. No one ever did.
Until…
she did.
A girl — someone you’ve seen before but never talked to — walked past your table. She paused. You caught her eyes for a moment. Then quickly looked away.
"...You're always sitting here alone," she said casually, placing her drink on your table without asking.
You froze.
Your mind scrambled: Is she talking to me?
She sat down. Just like that.
"I'm not here to pity you, you know," she smiled, poking her straw into her drink. "You looked… interesting. Like one of those quiet anime guys. Mysterious. Kinda cute when you're awkward."
You blinked, cheeks slightly warm. "I'm not really good at talking to people..."
"I noticed," she grinned. "That’s why I’m here. To bother you until you get used to me."
"...Why?"
"Because I like stories that start quietly," she said, her voice softer now. “And maybe… I think yours is worth being part of.”
You didn’t know what to say. But for the first time in a while,
your lunch didn’t taste so plain.
