Unleashed

Vel tried to get up, but her back leg was broken, and she had cuts all over from the tumbling she took. She flapped her wings to get closer, and after a few seconds, she took a tumble.

“How dare you!” Vel snarled, her talons scraping the ground, “I only attacked the city because you took my parents!”

“Vel…”

“We did no such thing. Just like you, your parents attacked us first.”

“LIAR!!!” Vel roared, and her hot fire breath shot out at Elric. He dodged, but Aiden took the opportunity to run to Vel. When he got to her, she was crying.

“Don’t move, let me heal you.” Aiden started using his magic, making Vel glow blue again.

“She is hurt badly; this might take some time.”

“Forgetting something?” Aiden heard from behind him as he saw a foot coming at him from the corner of his eye. He managed to block, but it made him stop the healing process.

“He’s going to stop me every time I try to heal her.”

Aiden went on the attack, throwing punches and kicks, but they were either blocked or dodged.

“You must not be used to fighting. Your moves are too telegraphed.” Elric smirked, “You also didn’t kill any of the guards, which means you are soft.” He punched Aiden in the stomach, making him fall to his knees.

*COUGH COUGH*

“You sure can take a hit, though.” Elric kicked Aiden in the side of his head, sending him flying and landing next to Vel.

“I was a fool to think I could make a difference. Even in this world of dragons and magic… I am still just… Nothing.”

“I’m sorry, Vel...”

“It is I who should be apologizing to you. I just wanted revenge for my parents… So I took a chance and used you… I am sorry.”

“It’s okay… I knew there was a reason you wanted my help...”

*COUGH COUGH*

“This is touching and all, but it’s time I finish this.” Elric grabbed a small metal pole that was attached to his belt. He held it out in front of him, and it extended and transformed into a spear.

Time seemed to slow down as Aiden saw the spear being lifted, primed to come down and pierce his body.

“Why was I brought here, just to die…”

Then, he felt it. A tug like before, but it also felt different.

“What is that?”

He focused on the tug, feeling his whole body tingle. It felt like something was unlocking, something that had been locked away for a very long time. Something he had no idea was there. 

He saw the spear was coming down at him; he didn’t know what this was going to do, but he had to hurry. The spear was getting closer and closer.

“Just a little more…”

Then it happened. The spear came down, but it pierced the ground. Aiden had disappeared.

“What?” Elric had a confused look.

“A… Aiden?” Vel was also confused.

“AHHH!!”

*THUD*

Hadrik had screamed and fallen backwards.

Both Vel and Elric looked.

Aiden was standing by his sword that Hadrik was still near.

“He’s a demon!” Hadrik shrieked and started to crawl backwards.

“Those eyes, it can’t be.” Vel had a look of shock, but then quickly smirked.

Aiden’s eyes were completely glowing blue.

“That’s impossible!” Elric’s smooth voice changed. “HOW!” He yelled.

Aiden bent down and picked up his sword.

“He is part dragon,” Vel said.

“SHUT UP!!” Elric yelled and raised his spear, but before he could do anything, the spear shattered, and Aiden punched Elric in the stomach, sending him flying back before landing on his feet.

“I thought you were saying Vel was the crazy one.” Aiden said as he pointed his sword at Elric, “But you seem like the crazy one to me.”

“Me? Crazy?” Elric laughs, “Maybe I am.”

Elric grabbed two more small metal poles from his belt, turning them into spears yet again.

“I haven’t even used any magic yet.” Elric declared as his spears started to glow purple and float in the air.

“Aiden, be careful. That is gravity magic.” Vel said behind Aiden, still unable to move her body very much.

Elric took four more of those smaller metal poles, turning them all into spears and having them float like the first two.

“Is that all gravity magic is good for? Making those toothpicks float?” Aiden asked sarcastically. Elric smirked.

“They are only floating because I made them have no mass. But once I add mass and a direction…” Elric made a flicking motion with his finger, and one went flying towards Aiden incredibly fast.

Aiden’s glowing eyes got big for a split second before he moved out of the way just in time for the spear to go flying past him.

“You’re way faster than before, but I can go even faster.” Elric launched the five other spears at Aiden, making them go faster and faster.

Aiden began dodging and blocking all six of the spears.

“Damn, these things keep getting faster.” He tried to outrun them, but the spears acted like they had a mind of their own and blocked him no matter where he went. He had small cuts and scrapes from all the close calls.

“Stop moving around!” Elric shot a purple orb towards Aiden. He tried to dodge is, but with all the spears coming at him, he inevitably got hit.

“Gotcha!” Elric grinned.

The purple orb expanded when it hit Aiden, completely surrounding him. It lifted him up; he felt like he weighed nothing. No matter how much he moved his arms and legs, there was just no orienting himself.

“Flail all you want, but you have no mass right now.” Elric primed his six spears to point at Aiden. “You won’t get away this time.” He started to laugh.

Aiden had an idea, but he had to act fast. He held his sword out in front of him and made a ball of blue fire around the hilt. He pushed it out of the purple bubble, and just when it was out, he made his fireball explode and sent the sword flying. Elric was too busy laughing and didn’t know what Aiden was doing till the explosion happened.

*WOOOOSHH*

*BOOOM*

The sword’s impact made a dirt cloud formed a few moments.

*COUGH COUGH*

Elric, who was prepared for an impact, felt nothing. Just coughing at the dirt cloud and started laughing again.

“You idiot! You missed!”

Aiden’s sword was half deep in the ground.

“I didn’t miss,” Aiden said as he pulled the sword out of the ground.

Elric stopped laughing and looked down. Aiden was there, with his sword.

“Good thing I figured out I could teleport to my sword when this power in me unleashed.”

“How did y—“ Elric was cut off by Aiden uppercutting him in the face, lifting him up off his feet. He grabbed Elric’s leg and slammed him to the ground.

*BAM*

*AHHHGGGLL*

“It’s over,” Aiden said.

*COUGH COUGH*

“It’s not over yet.”

*RRROOOOAARRRR* Vel roared out in pain.

Aiden spun around and saw Vel with a spear sticking out of her.

“No… No… NOOOO!” His glowing eyes went wide with shock.

“I have five more… I wonder wh—“ Elric stopped mid-sentence as Aiden pierced his chest with his sword. Elric’s body went limp.

*KLANG KLANG KLANG*

The remaining spears all fell to the ground. Aiden pulled his sword from Elric’s lifeless body, using his blue fire magic to burn off the blood and putting it on his back.

Aiden turned around and started running towards Vel.

“I have to get to her, I have to heal her.”

Suddenly, he felt like he was struck by lightning and was rooted on the spot, unable to move. All his strength was gone as he started to fall. His vision started to go black as the last thing he heard was Vel screaming his name.
