Tired of this world

I live like a respectable citizen. I woke up at 5 am and get ready to work, at 6AM I was taking the train and at 7am I was already making quotes in the computer, I got off at 5pm, took the train at and arrive at home at 6:30pm, made some food, got a juice and start my computer.

7pm is where my day really started, I finished collage a little while ago and got a job at a normal company. The day was complete trash, and I was exhausted but nothing made me happier than playing video games, mostly RPGs, I just bought a new game and I was excited to play it.

But this joy was momentary, I needed to sleep at 9pm if I wanted to have my normal schedule but sometimes, I slept until 11pm, and this was one of those times.

I slept late, woke up, made a mess and tried to do everything until I arrived at the train station and fell asleep while taking one of the train handles.

I was just hoping that today's work wasn’t that hard but that was impossible, I already spent 5 years in the company so I knew how things would probably go down.

Extra hours, 7pm, 8pm, 9pm, 10pm…

When I realized it was already 12 am when we finished work, I was dizzy, my whole body was numb, so I took one of the sheets that were in one of the office storages and laid down under my desk.

Day after day, this was the whole experience and for what? I was just making money. For what? I don’t even know why, but I just needed to make something.

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Sundays were days off but even then, they made us work half-time or the full hours, lucky this week it was off since we finished everything on Saturday.

I woke up in the office at 6am, and arrived at my home at 8am just to hit my bed, falling asleep until it was 12pm.

I was getting heat up some premade food and turning on my computer when I started to feel really dizzy, everything was spinning in my room and I just close my eyes and took a deep breath, when I opened my eyes again, I walk slowly to get a glass of water and taking my food out of the microwave, got in my computer and play until it was time to get to sleep.

I went to sleep at 9pm but woke up at 4am. I felt something in my body, my whole system was giving me chills and I got up, opened the door of my bathroom, fell to my knees in front of the toilet and just waited for it.

Puke, I puke for about 5 minutes and then wash my mouth. I walked slowly to my bed, shaking and cleaning my tears while I got my sheets around me.

I open my phone and call my boss.

“Yeah, sorry for bothering you this early boss, this is Hikari… Ryuzaki Hikari… huh? The one that works at the corner, I was one of the few who stayed the whole week the other day I… sorry boss… No, I was just calling because I am not in good shape right now so I wanted to know if I could get the day off to go to the doctor… I… Yeah…. I understand… No, no, I don’t wanna miss work… What do you mean? My bonus?... But I do need to… you don’t need to yell at me boss… yeah…sorry… yeah… I puke and I think I have a fever…yeah… I understand the boss… Yeah, sorry to bother you… yeah I will see you at work…”

I hung up and took a deep breath while I was getting dressed.

“Piece of…”

This was the first time in a while that I got sick, I got flu and some other common diseases before but this one I felt was something a bit serious.

Either way, my boss didn’t allow me to go to the doctor, he got mad at me because he thought that I was just making excuses to not go today and he told me that he would give me something to get the symptoms down. And if I decided to miss work the bonus of my whole week would be affected.

“First time and last trying to get a day off”

I took a facemask and left my house, I just saw my world as if I was seeing the ocean, waves, like if the earth was moving but this was just me.

I tried to control my breathing but I was a bit exhausted just getting out of my apartment.

I bought a bottle of cold water in the vending machine downstairs and saw a woman, my neighbor.

“Hikari?! Are you ok? You don’t look so good…”

“Ah… Miss Ayane… I am okay… sorry to bother you…”

“Hikari…”

I left while Miss Ayane looked at me worried, she was such a sweet lady but I need to do this stuff for my future… it was for my future?... what… What future?...

A lot of thoughts were coming to my mind while I was getting on in the train, people hit me more often… no, I was just noticing more punches because my body was sensitive.

But I finally made it to work, when I arrived my boss looked at me shaking his feet with his arms crossed.

“You are late”

“Sorry boss… I got…”

“I don’t wanna hear it, here, take this if you are really sick and get to work”

“What is this… and can’t you just see how I am?”

“Huh? What was that young man? Did I hear a complaint? Well, I have a complain too young man, that even you didn’t have any experience we hired at first, so good luck in finding a new job that hires you with only 5 years in this company”

“Listen…”

When I was about to talk back my head started to hurt and I grabbed it, closing my eyes really hard.

“I am listening”

“Huh… nevermind, I don’t wanna do this…”

I bump my boss with my arm and get to my desk, taking the pills and drinking the water that I got left.

Everyone was looking at the boss and he just made some moves with his hands

“Get back to work”

I felt like the pills didn’t do a thing for me, I was in the same, the good thing is that we got out at the time we were supposed to do and I went to my home. But before that I went to the drug store and bought some medicine just in case.

I went home, and I didn’t even eat or play this time, I just threw myself into my bed and fell asleep.

The next day I woke up worse at 4am, I was sweating, and breathing heavily. I took the pills and waited for them to take effect…

I relaxed a bit but I knew this wasn’t going to last forever.

I took my phone and got the number of my boss but I threw up and got up and went to the doctor. There they told me that I have some infection and I got it just in time before it got worse.

I got my medicine and went home to make some light food and take my medicine.

My phone was ringing like crazy and when I picked it up my boss was yelling at me, I hung up and looked at the screen of my computer.

“Is this all that I want to do in life… tch… where was that again…”

I opened a website that I saved before called “Tired of this world” while I looked at the screen the only thing, I needed to do was to say some words.

I think for a bit but… in reality there wasn’t something to do or someone who will miss me so…

“I am Ryuzaki Hikari and I sign the contract”

Nothing happened and I took a deep breath.

“Of course, like… if it were that easy, how many people weren’t already gone”

I woke up off my chair and spun my chair around and when I stood up, my whole scenario changed.

I was in the middle of nowhere, green grass, the sun was in the middle of the sky and the wind was blowing in the opposite direction.

I rub my eyes, slap and pinch my cheeks but this was real. The only thing with me was the medicine that I bought and my clothes.

“This just looks like the wild areas from the RPGs… am I really… into a new world…?”

I couldn't help but smile and scream.
