Chapter 01 part 1 : Here we go again..

“I welcome you, o brave heroes. Please with your power save this world from this calamity we received from the demon lord Astartesa.” said the tall old looking man extending both of his hands toward us. From a platform that is visibly on a different height than other bystanders. There’s some smoke that cover the lower platform than the old man

“The hell....?” from me, exhaled a sigh thinking it will be troublesome. Me looking at the old man that was talking nonsense out of nowhere. Sending glare toward the surrounding. The old man took a few steps. But he still holds dignity as he looks at me back.

you can’t just predict what will happen in the near future. I Asagi Youichi acknowledge that’s what makes life fun and interesting. Well or so it should, what happens now is already out of anyone's mind. Let me explain in detail. I am currently in an unknown room that is equal to my school gym in size. There are many people wearing armor, they have weapons in the form of a spear, sword in their waist. They look like some kind of soldier, but i don’t familiar with this type of armor. The design is familiar to england middle aged armor soldiers. There are also some that wear something similar to robes, they hold huge tree roots? Is that magic wand? Well, leave that for later. And there also few that wear expensive looking clothes and jewelry look like they from upper status here in other word nobles. There’s 4 people on the platform above me. They have a crown on their head, maybe they’re royalty.

As far as I don’t want to admit, it looks like I was just summoned to another world. Why can I be so sure, you ask? Look there actually people hold magic wand !! and there fucking huge magic circle beneath me!!! And the old man just said DEMON LORD!! Let’s stay cool. The soldier send glares as i look at them, the robe guys chanting something. There are also glowing words circling around the robe guys, as I thought those guys are magicians. Maybe because I glare at them. they are alerted. But despite that, All of them stare in awe at me- or should I say us.

“Owh..Ouch.. Youichi, is that you?” a young man trying to get up as he is still trying to understand what happened to the unbelievable situation he experienced is my childhood friend Miyamoto Kouji. There are also other two that just wake up from their short slumber both look around confused.

“You-kun, are you okay ? there is a bruise on your hand!!” A petite girl approached me and brought out a band aid and wound spray from her pocket in panic. This overreacted girl here is Hayasaka Mia

“Mia, its okay, It’s just a small scratch.” As I said, trying to calm Mia down. While it looks like she is still in panic though. As she is still persistent to put a band aid to my wound.

“Youichi, where are we? its not like we’re in some film studio right?” The cool and composed girl there is Hiiragi Rin. Unlike Mia she is composed and cool while in this weird situation. She calmly looked around and deduced the situation in her own ways.

Both of them are also my childhood friends, like Kouji. Four of us have been inseparable since a young age. As Rin and Kouji came closer to both me and Mia. The people across the hall showed to be anxious.

*sigh I can only let out a small sigh.

“why is this happen?” I rubbed my temple to calm my mind. Mia, Rin and Kouji began to feel out of place too, as they see unfamiliar sight.

Let turn back for few hours earlier. As you can guess, i Asagi Youichi just your normal 3rd year high school student. This evening i just happen to wait for my friends at classroom. Rin busy with next Student council members, Kouji training for his club for the last time and Mia have her time with cooking association. In the nice morning, out of nowhere Kouji propose for us to go home together as this year will be the last of our year as highschool students. As we not spend much time together as we do in childhood days. Both Mia and Rin agreed without even waiting for my reply they just decide from the head on. As i not really in any club or committee i just wait in classroom without any real meaning. Sit beside window and reading light novel became my way to kill time before my selfish childhood friends come. Waiting are not bad on it self though. I can see many things just from waiting here. Beautiful evening sky for example, or the girl’s boobs that swing around from sport club that running around the field, Girl’s boobs that sway from stretching over the edge of the field. “wha-what are you talking about, i am not really seeing anything like panties.” I proudly counter.

“Sorry for the wait- what happened?” and just that with the last guy came. Mia gave the pouches with cookies to Rin and Kouji. We chat for a bit, like how Mia cooking turn out so well, also about the next Student body are dependable, how the Kendo club became strong and how i got scholarship to nice university. Just normally live make everything look peaceful, we though there’s will be nothing can change that. Then suddenly the floor shone red and a big circle appeared. And that what lead us here to the present.

“So what really happen here?” Kouji bring himself close to me. Rin and Mia Follow the suit.

“I don’t know, but they should know the answer though. Right, old man over there?” as i move closer to the pondium the old man are, a lot of soldier blocked the way and pointed at me with their weapon. They glare at me with an intend to kill.

“Put down your weapon, its rude to our saviour. My name is Garr Wilhem De Tortas, I am the 65th and the current king of this Tortas the largest Kingdom in the Gargantia Continent. As you can expected, this is another world and we’re the one that summoned you o brave heroes...” the proclaiming King said with strong voice he explain. As expected this is another world, the other Kouji and Mia look really surprise as they can’t believe what they heard. As for Rin she look the same but i know she’s taken back.

“..... about the demon lord astara-something, do you expect us to kill it?” Kouji let out something after a long pause.

“Yes as my prior statement, you the ones that summoned have responsibility to defeat Demon Lord and bring peace to our-”

“Hold your horse old man! responsibility? Defeat demon lord? This doesn’t make any sense!!” i cut the king words, the soldier and the noble around didn’t amused and scorn me. Many people glares at me. I glare back at them and the focused on the king. The king sigh and silence the mass.

“I am apologize for my friend behavior, please continue.” Kouji pat my shoulder, i reluctant back down and decide to listen to the king explaination.

To summarized, this world is in danger since 50 years ago. The demon lord revived and bring disaster around the globe. Not only that demon army increased to unbelievable numbers and strength. Not only that, 12 of the strongest demon named 12th General aid the demon lord and they bring many kingdom and country to their demise. Not only human kingdom, the Elf Great forest, Beastman Kingdom, even Dragon Empire are their victims. In the last hope the king found the ancient magic to summon hero from another world. Which is the thing me, Kouji, Mia and Rin being dragged to.

“And now, please i asked you not as king. But as one of this world humble human. Please save this world for the sake of peace.” The king bowed as far as kneel down. The audience became noisy. As Kouji see this he surprised, Mia also a little flustered. For me and Rin we silently watched the situation. Rin then poked on me.

“Youichi, what do you think?” Rin whispered on me with small voice.

“Flustered Mia is cute to-Ouch!” Rin pinch me, she then pulling my ear. While i joking around she put a really serious face.

“You know that not what i am talking about.” As i though she’s angry. Well for me and Rin who didn’t really care about what happen to this world. We can nonchalantly refused the king’s heartfull request But on the other hand Kouji and Mia huh? Both of them are too naive for they own good. And the king way of explain thing. In other word the way they begged is the most effective way is to seduce Kouji and Mia for cooporations. How cunning and somehow indecent, i need to take action before its too late.

“Sorry, but i think we can’t helped you with request of yours.” As voiced my denial the king that kneel down made surprise expression even Mia and Kouji confused. The place became more noisy all of the sudden. Rin’s expression didn’t change, I can sense their glare stabbed at me.

“Its sad for what happen here, but we’re not just gonna say ‘yes, we’ll help’. While this may be sound cruel, this is not our problem and I’d like to refuses.” The noble like people whispering in the volume that’s not exactly can be categorized as whisper.

“imbecile!! He don’t have any right to refuses!!”. And so on, they really said whatever they want huh. And i think my reason was valid, who is gonna help a total stranger fighting some monster, in a place that practically not our world and only know for like 4 page. There no obligation or even reason to do it. And I asked kindly, more over you guys can say that because you guys are not the one fighting. The king kneeled down? I don’t care about that, we dragged into this and force to agreed, iam not wrong, it was normal to decline!!.

“You, How could you said that after see the King begged, he throw his pride for this world, as far as kneeled down in front of us.” Suddenly a soldier rebuke and point his sword at me. He walked toward me with visible thick vein with his rather good sword to my face.

“And you’re?”

“I Fier von Holden, 2nd son of the esteemed General Kurt von Holden, Captain of 1st Royal Knight Army, can’t tolerance anymore insolence toward my lord. You young lad that even doesn’t know how much grief Our people and our King grief over this calamity. Have no right to refuse the responsibility as hero!! ” He glare with not only rage but also scorn toward me. He doesn’t have any slightest doubt to his words. The people around also sending a similiar sight.

“That your problem not ours.” i said with confidence.

“Wha-!?” look like Fier have something to say.

“We are maybe called here, by you. But it’s not like we will just say yes. We have our own concern too.” But its not like i will lister to him, so i cut how words.

“But, you guys are heroes. You can’t just refuse our pleads.” Owh what classic reason.

“In the first place, I don’t remember we’re being hero or anything. But what we know is, we have our of concern, and we have right to refuses.”

“What that jus-!” again he try to defend king’s reason, but iam being me.

“Cruel? Inhumane? Evil? As far as I know what you guys do are more cruel. Not only you guys bring us here to another world without our permission. When we got here we have to clean your mess? To a total stranger?! You’re just asked us to sacrifices our life, You must be kidding me?!, we’re normal teenager this morning and now without any warning we became your meat shield?! We are not even from your fucking world, we don’t have any fighting experience, so what you’re just gonna throw some innocent child to those monster and called it a day?! In case we’re fail what you’re gonna do, call another so called hero?! See You guys are the cruel one!” before Fier can finish his sentence. I force my way out and corner him. I looked at my surrounding the noble even the royalty went silent. Mia and Kouji looked at me with disbelief, looking calmly from aside Rin only see me rebuke back the people without any visible change on her face. I said what on my mind and man that refreshing, And I’am not wrong.

“I don’t care about any fair that happen here or this world. Your king can beg all he want but our decision is alrea-!” like a child that can’t win over a small argument, Fier swing his sword to me. Like to intentionally avoid me, he attack to a ground in front of me.

“Eh?” Like a wind the sword swayed really fast, the floor in front of me destroys in a flash. It not only that. There’s visible crack and sight of melted ceramics. Magic, huh? Impressive. Not really though.

“Fier, What you have done!?!” the King shout, from behind. Kouji, Mia and Rin behind me surprise and rather shaken.

“I heard enough you bastard, i will KILL YOU!!!” Fier swung another attack, unlike before I can see him chanting something. The sword he held covered with thin red light. As i thought its this world miracle magic. For i who always read light novel and from personal experiences, i know that this is a real life magic. but this is not time to fascinated. In less then 1 second it would be either dead or die. Well now what to do?

“YOUICHI!!” ” YOUICHI –KUN!!” i can hear Rin, Mia and Kouji’s voice echoes in this hall.

“I will take that head!!!” Fier tried to give another swing, that target directly to my neck.

*Clang!!

“What!?” What happened before me is not something I expected. Kouji counters the knight’s sword with Shinai. Not only that he successfully brandished the knight and made the weapon snapped into two pieces. When the Knight Fier collapsed, he looked at kouji with fear. After a closer look the shinai is wrapped in golden fire. But, its not burned literally wrapped. If you have to put it in words, its just like he unleashed a special move. Anything goes with magic, huh? But, its surprising cliche. So Kouji is the main character ? Am I a stooping character, or is it Fier ? By the way I lost my balance and now I’am in the same level of view with Fier-kun.

“Youichi, Are you okay?”

“Ah- aaah.. i am okay.” Kouji offered his hand and help to me. i obediently accept Kouji’s hand. The Knight Fier looked down in fear. The audience became noisy again.

*DONG!!

“Hear my words, my subjects. From here on I forbid any disrespect toward our guest. In the name of the 65th king of Tortas Empire Garr Wilhem De Tortas hereby. ” When no one was looking, the king walked up to the podium and declared. The nobles and the knights bowed down. The only ones that have not bowed are me, Mia, Rin and Kouji.

“I apologise for my knight’s actions.” the king tried to give another bow directed toward Kouji and us, but stopped by Kouji.

“No, its okay. More importantly, please put your face up.” Kouji said in an ikemen voice.

In the different room that was not as big as the previous, but as I thought, still bigger than any room I ever saw. The king once again bowed before us, there’s no one here beside the king, few knights, 5 nobles-like people and 3 magicians and us four. The silence filled the air in this room. Its really awkward. Well there the offence from the knight captain also refused me. Its expected to be awkward.

“I- um.. Youichi say something!!” Kouji quickly asked for my help, eyes full of expectation. I get it, I will not disappoint you. I answered already set from the start.

“Anyway, can you serve us something to drink AND something to eat, sweet if you can. From there we can talk.” I said lightly.

“Youichi!” Kouji hit my shoulder. What's wrong with that? I'm thirsty, you know. I even asked for your share too. Be graceful!

“Yes, where my manners are. Duke Barterheilt, can I count on you.” The king’s face became more gentle and let out some chuckles as he found my response amusing.

“Yes, your majesty.”

The king issued the order to the noble beside him, Duke Barterheilt ran outside the room followed by 3 knights behind him. The king made a sign to sit on the couch. In a few moments some maid returns with Duke Barterheilt. They brought in 2 trolleys that mount with many desserts, from something like cookies, and one bite sized cake. The other was mounted with dishes, I guess it for the plating. They also requested tea or something like that. If this is England it will be what they called “tea time”. By the way, the maids have nice body curves, as expected from another world, there are even cat eared girls and dog eared girls. They’re so cute, I want to take them home. Guhehehe, shit I know I can’t but, instead I will burn this into my memori- Ouch, that hurts!! That hurt!!

“Where are you looking at Youichi!?” Rin pinch me from the right side.

“You-kun Please be serious at the moment!” Mia also starts pinching me from the left side, both Mia and Rin pinch me on the side. Both of them are really skilled at pinch even for me who once Red Demon of- OUCH!! Did their pinch just got harder! OUCH..OUCH!!! It’s seriously hurt, I can't even start my chuunibyou monologue, shit, I will cry!! The maids looking at me chuckles, well maybe looking at me being tortured is really that amusing.

“Now, can we once again continue what we left on...”

“Ah, Before that i have something to ask.” While brace myself from the pinch of death from my angelic childhood friend and my demoness childhood friend. Kouji went ahead and asked the king. Even though Kouji is the one that asks, Fier glares at me. That man really hates me huh? But the king raises his hand like order Fier to not do anything before Fier can do anything further. Rather why is he even here?

“Judging what just happened, is it that the thing I used is magic, does that mean I am the hero ? But there are 4 of us, is there only one hero ? Or is it just a coincidence ?” Kouji asked directly about the problem. The king looked quite troubled. His eyes wander for a few seconds and land his gaze at the robe fellow. That gu- no a girl? Ahah, You can’t fool me even though you hide it in that baggy cape. I can hear it[1] your boobs hidden under the garment. Like giving a signal, the girl under robe reveals her face, well.. well.. it’s quite a lovely girl, her age probably close to us but as expected from another world not only the maid is high level but the magician is cute too, even though Mia is cuter.

“Hii!!” I sensed blood lust. Thus, I decided to drink my tea quietly . The mage girl bowed down and proceeded to draw something midair. Is that some kind of magic ?

“My name is Toa di Flameth, i am royal mage and the one that leading the summoning ritual. Pleased to met you.. uh.. is it okay to address you as Kouji-sama?” she quite talkative, she 100 times better than that Fier Guy. She even offer a handshake. But its look like she’s troubled over something. Ah.. i see, Kouji haven’t named himself. Well, we called each other by name. but, any of us haven’t introduce ourself formally. There alot of thing happen its just slipped from our mind.

“My name is Kouji Miyamoto, 3rd year of senior high school. The pleasure is all mine Flameth-dono.” As expected from our kendo prince, not only bishounen he also handsome.

“Such flattery, You can call me Toa. Kouji-sama.” Kouji shakes her hand with a blush. She’s fallen for the power of the kendo prince. The blushed mage face is too bright, it's burning!! Her bishoujo power is over 90000[2].

“Since we’re at it, why don’t we introduce ourselves first. A lot of things happen that we haven't even named ourselves. Is it okay?” Kouji offered

“Yes, as Kouji-dono wishes. Please by all means.” The king gave his approval to Kouji. And then Rin and Mia stood up. Mia was visibly nervous. You can see her cute face flustered as she goes “Awawa-”. As for Rin, she stood up with a cool face,so cool as far as I want to call her onee-sama.

“M-my name is Mia Hayasaka. I may be still a novice but pl-pleased to meet you! ” Is this Marriage Interview*!?! Youichi-Papa didn’t approve of this!!

“I am Rin Hiiragi. Nice to meet you.” As expected, simple is the best.

Kouji sent a glare that told me [Youichi, hurry up!], and he lightly kicked my leg. Wait a minute, I'm still in the middle of drinking tea. It’s quite a good one too, as I continue to drink my tea. Kouji began to put force to his kicks. I get it, you want some introduction right? I will do it! Look at my great intro!!

“Youichi Asagi. 18 year old, A-type, birthday 21 december, favorite food ochazuke, least favorite food natto, hobby muscle training, height 170cm still growing and girl ty--GAHA!!” I tried to pose as Joseph, but something hit my side before I even finished my introduction.

“Do it seriously!!” Kouji just hit me with his fist?! How could you!! Even my old man never hit me[3]!! No, he hits me everyday.

“What do you mean, idiot!? Just because you are a little taller don’t get full of yourself, idiot!!” i said what I needed to say.

“That's not what I meant, you idiot!!” Kouji get up from his seat while point finger at me.

“Only idiots call idiot, idiot!!” agitated, I threw another insult to him.

“What?! That.. you are the first to call me idi-GEHH!!” Before he can finish his sentence, an invisible iron fist lands on his head.

“GAHA!!” yeah that happen to me too, while i and kouji share an insult to each other. A pair of hand hit our head with the speed of mach. Its the demon- i mean Rin’s hand, she look down to the two of us as she send another punch.

“Read the mood you two, we’re in a serious situation!!” we are scold by Rin

“Yes, ma’am!”both me and Kouji immediately went down on our knee, not in romantic manner

“It hurts bakarin, you don’t need to hit my head!!” yeah right it's Kouji’s fault, as i begin to prove myself innocent.

“ooh.., you right i should kick your head instead?”

“No, please I will die.” I bow down to the holy demon asking for forgiveness as she bestowed the humble me with her marvelous leg. The king was astonished, not only that the people around were let out giggles and amused with our casual skit.

“...Well, it’s rather pleasing. There’s no need to be so tense. Like Youichi-dono please at ease.” The king chuckles as he speaks. The air around me became quite light, as expected from me. I am the man that enlightens the air without even trying.

“I apologize for my behavior.” Rin bow her head around.

“It’s already too late for that Rin, look how afraid the-GUHA!! ” Rin noticed that she was being too rude in front of the royalties and hid her embarrassment while kicking me. The room filled with laughter, in the price of my body I was able to protect this place happiness.

“In the end, we still don’t understand anything.”-that what Kouji said. Four of us are humans from another world. We need to understand this world more to be able to see the problem of this world. We know how powerful magic is, for the one who feels it first from any of us four. Kouji can feel amazing power from it. But he can’t ignore my view because in the end we’re still strangers.

“I know just as Asagi-dono mentioned, this is shameless for me to ask you this again but again. But this is the only way left for us. The demon's army is just that strong, nothing in this world can stop him. Please once again, Kouji-dono..” not only the king the nobles, the knights and the maids, far from lowering their head as far as they kneel. Kouji looked troubled. I about to refused, but Kouji stopped me. He sent me a look, after see that i realise he already decided.

“Please raise your head, if with the small power that i have i can help you. I will be glad help.” Kouji said with a smile. Is’t just me or he became more shining then before? Ah he too bright our kendo prince has been upgraded. The king and his surrounding touched by Kouji’s kindness, as he shake Kouji’s hand and thanks him as many as he can. I can even see him crying. Well people behind him are crying too. Maybe they are really cornered, even i can understand a little bit of their feeling. But it’s still their problem. But once Kouji decided he will not consent.

“Are you okay with this Youichi?” Rin casually asked to me. While holding her head looking at kouji.

“The tea is great, the maids are cute and-” while I started joking around Rin’s eyes are not smiling like her mouth. Her hand is shown to grip an invisible little me. Is this an illusion? No, future sight? I began to sweat a lot.

“*cough.. well he already decided it, if it's Kouji no one can stop him. Don’t worry, if anything happens I will do something about it.”

“Like always then..?”

“Yes.” As we speak I can feel her gaze become more mellowed. Rin looked at me like she couldn't help it. Don’t stare at me with those eyes, I will fall in love again, you know. As I sigh, some fat ass nobl- they are not really fat though, In fact they are a bunch of good looking men. They try to reach their hand on Mia. How dare they try to touch my little angel, who do they think they are!? Youichi-papa didn’t approve of this. I lightly grab Mia’s hand and glare at the nobles and leave them.

“We are going to hold the hero ceremony to know what kind of magic you have and the blessing goddess gave. While this afternoon Kouji-dono let out light magic there is still a possibility you still have another question. But as expected the day is late, so let's postpone it until tomorrow. Mia-dono, Rin-dono, Youichi-dono by all means please participate in it too. ” The robe magical girl said. Well it’s nothing to lose a chance. Rin and Mia seemed willing to participate. I will say no more.

“We already prepared the room for hospitality. There is a lot of room in this castle after all. Please choose the one you like most.” The King’s mood really shot up, he said all of that with a really disgusting laugh and smile. The others too look really happy, they show around the castle to Kouji, Mia and Rin. They casually ignored me though, well I was against their wish once. It’s as expected they didn’t see me in bright light. Suddenly the king lowered his speed to match mine.

“I am sorry Youichi-dono, I seemed to push our problem to you and the other 3.” The king said with an apologetic tone. He looks sad but still smiles, a bitter smile though.

“Don’t worry, I am still bothered by it though. But, Kouji already decided he will help. I'm just gonna aid him so he will not do anything reckless.” I said nonchalantly.

“I see, you’re really kind huh, Youichi-dono?” The king said with a bitter smile then let out a small laugh like some old geezer I know.

“Pardon?” I counter it.

“Just before you said, you will not help us and interrupted Kouji-dono, Mia-dono or Rin-dono to speak their thoughts because you already know that they can’t refuse right especially Kouji-dono and Mia-dono. You take the bad actor and let yourself be the bad guy so even if you have to take our wish either way we will only see you as the bad one and still treated the other 3 nicely.” The king said to me while explaining the whole reason why I refused them by myself. He not looking like a d*mbledore but actually he is one huh? Well I hope king orientation is nothing like that old mage though. He stared at me with kind eyes. And patted my shoulder.

“I don’t know what you're talking about. I just wanna go home as soon as i can. It’s not- ” as i tried to deny his word suddenly he cut my line.

“Please, you don’t need to lie. I may look like this but I am still the king. Seeing lies and deception for many decades. Your little lie will not pass me.”

“Please don’t worry even though I said Kouji-dono will fight. I will not let him fight alone. I have trusted knights, trusted allies and our people, also we have goddess on our side. They surely protect all of you. We won’t let you fight alone, I promise this.” He said while looking far and fondly. He may really trust what he says deeply. He said that knowing that all my words are meant for protecting Kouji and the others. While, i still do not trust him fully. This old man might not be a bad guy for now.

We went to eat dinner afterward and guess where we ate? Another big hall. There’s the king, a beautiful older lady I’d like to think of as queen. I meant she wears a crown too. There’s also two more girls that I am guessing are princess, why do I know? Same reason as the queen. Because of how grand the eating hall is and also the food. We don’t really talk during dinner.
