Chapter 2:
Hastur's Reign
This is crazy! I can't believe that I'm in this sort of situation!
My mind is only thinking about running, my feet moving as my life depends on them. I run past soldiers and corpses, men and women crucified in the streets while the armored humanoids are celebrating in some sort of weird ritual, as if they were barbarians of some kind. I can't really pinpoint what it is about, my mind is not focused on that, I must run!
Three hours pass, I am hiding in some sort of building. The room is filthy, but there is no one around the streets nearby. "Damn it..."I saw softly as I sit down on the floor. "How could this happen? Why did I have to open this door...".
As I say that, I just realize it is no time to be lamenting my decisions and that I must find a way out but...I don't know what to do. Death roams around every corner, and this is the only spot I found that's safe from these people.
I'm hungry...I don't know how long have I been past out nor what happened after I opened that door...but that voice...it felt so ominous...as if they were expecting me to open that door. It doesn't matter anyway. As soon as I get back up, someone falls from the ceiling unto me, holding a knife down my throat while they pin me down.
"Who are you!?" she asks. "Are you one of Haita's minions!?"
"H-Haita!? No, God no! I was a prisoner for all I know!"
"Then who are you!?"The masked woman asks as she presses her knife on my neck.
"I-I am just an honest working office worker carajo! I don't know where I am or how I ended up here! Please, don't hurt me!"
"Office...worker"
As she hears me plead for my life, she lowers the knife and lets go of me. As I get back up and regain my composure, I notice that this woman is also human. She has medium, brunette curly hair, her mask covers her face except her eyes, that are a lighter shade of purple, and her clothing, although kind of revealing, seems to be worn to blend with the environment at night.
"What's your name" the woman asks.
"J-Jason. My name is Jason Caraballo!"
"Jason eh? Look pretty boy, I don't know who you are or why you are here, but you seem to be trust worthy from what I can see. Here, have some of this".
She decides to hand be over a loaf of bread. I can't believe my eyes, food, after who knows how long, is now upon my grasps. I impatiently grab the loaf of bread and start gobbling it down. It tasted like heaven...
"So...you seriously have no idea where you are?"
"*gulp* Uuuh...no, not really...all I know is that this is not home, nor anything close to it...what happened here?"
The woman crosses her arms and leans towards the wall. There is a long silence before she says "Haita and his god happened".
"Haita...did this?"
"He's the entire reason the continent's a graveyard for us humans...that damned Haita. Tell me, did you wake up in a prison cell?"
"Y-yeah, but how did you-"
"Take off your shirt"
"What?"
"I said take off your shirt, he could've marked you."
"Marked me!?"
As I try to stop her, she forcefully rips my shirt off me, revealing some sort of symbol on my chest.
"Damn it! You've been marked!"
"Marked!? What do you mean mar-"
As I try to finish my sentence, a large growl can be heard from behind the building, as whatever it is starts breaking down the wall.
"Get down!" The woman says as she forces me down and we both hide behind the debris that was left from the attack.
Large steps can be heard. I can see it's feet, hooves to be exact. I can also see a spiked club, he seems to have used it to throw down the wall. I'm scared, same as her, I can hear it from her breath, and see it in her hands how they shake. Suddenly, the creature stops. I am suddenly filled with an overwhelming sense of dread, when suddenly, I look up...
"I have found you...human..."
