It was around the afternoon, Rin was waking up to a passed out Zen In front of her.
He was full of cuts, but not that much time had passed, she could tell that he needed aid.
However, she didn't know why he was wounded until she noticed the dead wolves that were surrounding him.
I could've sworn there was no one who went near this forest, so what are you doing here?
She was already full of doubt, so saying that he saved her sounded like it would've been in unbelievable to hear.
She felt guilty if he was left there, so she got a little closer to his body.
“I only know a little bit so you won't make a full recovery but…”
She placed her hand onto his chest. To focus she closed her eyes and said a chant.
“May Lumithia heal this body, and provide aid.”
A glow appeared towards the base of her hand and his cuts began to regenerate slowly.
The only thing is she wasn't able to heal the big cut on his chest made by the first wolf.
She was able to stop the bleeding, however.
Right when she was done he was beginning to wake up.
Since she was the first thing he saw, he was startled and sat up quickly as she sat there quietly like nothing had happened.
“Were you the one who healed me?”
She expression was with confusion, she immediately backed away looking at him with wariness.
“Why can you speak our language?”
She replied with a question, immediately being on guard.
Zen was confused as well, since the God he spoke to said nothing about him being able to communicate with people of another language.
He panicked and tried to come up with some kind of excuse.
“Well, uhh you see... I was once friends with your people and they showed me how to speak your language.”
She became more relaxed, and he was relieved that he found a good excuse.
“Well, sorry for that. Yes, I am the one that healed you. Did you save me from that pack of wolves?”
Zen got up realizing that all the blood was gone as well. Yet replied with.
“Well they were gonna attack you so I only did what anyone else would.”
Rin was surprised that this boy who looked about her age was able to go to such lengths for her.
Anyone else in her tribe criticized her for just existing. She wasn't used to this level of kindness, let alone any kindness at all.
“You're wrong, no one would do that.”
Zen was a little surprised to hear that. Yet it also made him irritated that he went to such trouble for her to receive it like this.
“Shouldn't you be more like ‘Oh my hero, thank you for saving me!’ or something like that?”
She bounced back by saying.
“Yea I could say the same here, dumbass.”
He scratched his head in irritation before giving a sigh.
“Alright fine you win, thank you for healing me earlier. My name is Zen Zyle, what's yours?”
She didn't seem like she was too enthusiastic about meeting a human, if anything she looked sad or empty.
Nonetheless she just didn't make eye contact while saying.
“Rin Rockford, and uhh thanks for saving me as well…”
“Okay then, Rin. What were you doing sleeping near that tree so peacefully?”
Rin looked nervous in explaining the situation, she's never had to explain things because the only people around her already knew of the situation.
“Well, that's—”
She was taking too long to answer so Zen just assumed it was a touchy subject.
“You don't gotta tell me If you don't want to. Anyways I'm gonna go back.”
Zen took his things and left. However, while he was leaving Rin began to follow him.
Zen ignored it but as he was getting closer to home he realized she wanted to tag along.
“Don't you have somewhere to go?”
Rin was silent, but just shook her head in response.
“Not really… no.”
Zen was hesitant as he didn't know if he could protect her by himself, but he just shook his head and moved towards his base.
“You can come with me if you want.”
She tried to hide her ears perking up. She was hesitant to join him, after what happened in the past. Instead she just stood there in place.
“What's wrong? Are you coming?”
She was still hesitating thinking about how she couldn't trust him, no, she shouldn't.
Despite that she wants to follow him either way. So just like that she followed him saying.
“Yes, I'm coming!”
Meanwhile in the kingdom that Rin was in.
There was a king sitting down on his throne, and that person was Rin’s father.
Someone came in, she was also a dark Elf but had an disgusting aura to her. She wore a tribal getup, probably due to her dark elven lineage.
“Father, that cursed child's mother finally dropped dead in their little shack this morning.”
She spoke with pride and arrogance. It was obvious to see how much she hated Rin and her mother.
“Hmm I see, So Felicia is dead? She has been ill for some time. I had wondered when that would happen.”
The king seemed distracted after hearing the news. It did process in his mind what she said, but it was as if there was something else.
“And what of the concubine's daughter? Where is she at, Teal?”
Teal has a smirk on her face saying.
“I dropped her off in the forest of Gradula.”
The king immediately sat up from his seat after hearing that. The look on his face was of great fear.
Even Teal herself was surprised to see him act like this.
“Go and get her back from the forest immediately! Don't let her get too close to the middle of that goddamn forest!”
Teal was nervous to hear the king speak like this, she was more nervous than anything.
“D-Did I do something wrong?”
The king made a severe heavy glare at Teal.
“Go to your room this instant!”
She immediately replied with.
“O-Okay!”
She ran off as quickly as possible.
The king sighed after sitting back down on his throne, since no one else was there he had time to think of what to do.
“Felicia, you just had to die so soon, huh?”
