Chapter 17:
Engulfed in Darkness - Becoming a Villain in Another World (Part II)
Hiroshi lifted an eyebrow in confusion. He was almost hurt, but at the same time, slightly enjoyed the fact that the whole city feared him. Still, it didn't make sense at all. Hiroshi had never done anything to the Titanian people, so they had no reason to fear him.
Yet.
The downtown street cleared in an instant. The once bustling shops had cleared, the people only leaving scraps of trash in their wake. Cars were being ditched in the middle of main street, making a very messy sight to see. It was as if the city aged one hundred years in a few seconds. The only things that still looked modern and lively were the bright, neon signs that reminded Hiroshi of Tokyo.
Bibi was confused at the city layout, and she was frantically turning her head around the place, trying to make head nor tail of it.
"This is the city center?! But we are just inside the gates!" She yelped out, covering her mouth, and Tomokazu stood beside her to comfort her.
"That's just how Sunchel was built, with the big center first, and the villages and outskirts were built afterwards, due west, spreading west like a plague. That's not confuses me. What baffles me was why there was so many people in the city..." Tomokazu stopped talking, completely lost in thought.
"Why wouldn't there be?" Wisteria asked. "It's a big place with a huge population...at least from what I read about it."
"That's true," Tomokazu replied, his hand coming under his chin as he pondered. "But it was unnaturally busy today. I have been here loads of times for Ardor meetings, but even then...no...something is off here...why..."
"Because they were running from something...me..." Hiroshi reasoned, his analytical skills coming to save the day once more.
"It has to be a Desecrator. I'm sure of it."
"And with that assumption, you would be correct!"
An ugly laugh echoed around the city square. Not a nice laugh, that found something funny. No, this was a mocking laugh. The only reason that laugh was used was to laugh at someone elses expense. The four friends turned around slowly, their hair standing up on the end.
It sounded like Hiroshi. And it sure looked like Hiroshi. The only thing difference between Number One and this Desecrator was the right eye, which was a low, dark purple color, while the other eye was it's usual beautiful ocean-blue glow. Of course, one more difference was the number on the back of his hand.
Number Two. The next Desecrator in line.
At first, Hiroshi was glad to have found the Desecrator here, as it saved time looking for it later. However, this presence felt strange. It was nothing like the first Desecrator.
No. Number Two was so much stronger, its older model was not even close. If Number One was a normal person with little manna, Number Two was an Ardor.
All of the four friends were too scared to move. The presence of Number Two was making them stick to the floor. And the Desecrator knew that. Kuro-Yami was beginning to get angry inside Hiroshi's mind.
"He stole our glory! We can't let this go on, Hiroshi! Let's take him down, come on!" He barked his order at Hiroshi, but the young man could still not move. He felt that if he moved, he would be killed instantly.
The Desecrator looked at the four people, getting more smug with every second. He knew he had them right where we wanted them.
"Hiroshi, my friend! Do you like my face? I styled the hair myself!" He joked, laughing away. It was the exact same hair as Hiroshi and Number One had. He was just messing with them. Toying with them.
"I noticed your eye...you're just a cheap imposter," Hiroshi retorted, swaying his boy slightly and crossing his arms across his chest.
"Oh Hiroshi! You thought that is what I was? Hahahah!" Number Two laughed at him, right in his face. He had travelled so fast, it was as if he had teleported there. He had mastered the speed of light. "I'm not your imposter, I'm your perfection."
Hiroshi's eyes bulged open in shock. He just had enough time to block the incoming punch, by a split nanosecond, but the force of the blast still threw him straight into thr nearest skyscraper. He tumbled through the whole bottom floor, smashing windows, falling through tables and tearing the whole floor up.
Hiroshi landed as a crumbled heap, on the other side of the building. He looked through the hole he had just created, starinf Number Two straight in the face. The Desecrator had the wildest grin on his face. Death excited him.
They had hardly fought yet, but Hiroshi already had a bad feeling about this situation. It was clear that Number One was only made to test the waters of the project. Number Two had a huge manna count, on an Ardor's level. He shook his head.
He might have to resort to that move. The one that was able to beat Tomokazu in the Great Encounter Battle Tournament. No. He couldn't. Not yet, at least. He needed to get stronger on his own terms, or his power scaling would be meaningless. He had to prove the world he could handle things himself.
Hiroshi didn't want Kuro-Yami's power to be feared. He wanted that fear for himself.
He stood back up slowly, facing his challenger through the hole in the building. However, in the front of the building, two people stood in the way of his line of sight.
Wisteria and Tomokazu.
"Hey, why go after him, when you can go against me?" Tomokazu asked the Desecrator, cracking his knuckles. "I have powered up a lot over these last few months."
"Hmmm," the Desecrator purred. "Show me results, don't tell me them."
"My pleasure!" Tomokazu yelled, launching himself as fast as he could at the Desecrator, determined to kill him and come out on top.
