Chapter 3:
The promised flower Véninfleur
"Prince?" I inquired curiously, glancing at the mysterious boy beside me.
But before I could get another word out, the boy grasped my arm and quickly led me away from the approaching people.
"This way!" he urged, pulling me away from the crowd.
I followed him without hesitation
"What do they mean by prince?" I asked curiously, as the boy continued to walk ahead of me, pulling me along with his hands.
"My name is Earl, just Earl," the boy introduced himself, smiling.
“Shall we walk around? “He asked, I nodded, absorbing his words and contemplating my surroundings.
"That sounds good," I responded,
As we entered the quaint town, I couldn't help but be fascinated by the renaissance-era atmosphere. The cobbled streets and antique buildings had a rustic charm, and the inhabitants seemed to move about gently, as if they were in another time.
It felt like I had traveled back in time to a more peaceful, slower time, and I was mesmerized by the tranquility of the town.
Earl led me around the streets, introducing me to the various shops and landmarks
Except. The lake
"So... how did you find me in the lake?" I asked Earl with genuine curiosity. It was a mystery how he had known where and when to find me, and I wanted to hear the story from his perspective. There might be a clue how to get back from my world
“I jump into the water…and found you…sinking at the bottom”
Sinking?..
"youre soaking wet..." Earl said, gesturing towards my clothes.
"so are you"
"I think we should change. Here, let's go to a shop. and dragged me inside the shop, Earl perused the shelves, selecting various fabrics and styles.
"Try these on," he said, holding up a few elegant and beautifully designed dresses.
The dress that Earl held up was nothing like I had ever worn before.my simple black uniform turns into a luxurious, expensive-looking affair. It had a high neckline and long sleeves, with a full skirt that swept across the floor. The fabric was a beautiful, ornate lace embellished with beads and ribbon.
He traded in his beautiful white suit for a dashing long frock coat and bow tie. The outfit was sleek and sophisticated, and he looked like a gentleman from another era.
"Let's head out!" he said as he took my school uniform with him
As I followed him, I couldn't help but feel a sense of awe and fascination as we entered the town. The buildings were picturesque, with cobblestone streets and quaint storefronts lining the streets. It was as if I had been transported back in time to the Renaissance but still far too different
"What a charming town," I remarked, looking around at the serene and picturesque setting. "I feel like I've traveled back in time to the Renaissance."
Renaissance?”
"You must be hungry from all that walking,” Earl, said to me. "Would you like to go to a restaurant? I know a great place near here."
"thanks!” I responded
As we made our way through the bustling town, Earl led me to a quaint, cozy restaurant. Upon entering, I was greeted warmly by the staff and offered a treat of soup warm bread and butter..
"So... how's the soup?" Earl asked playfully, watching me eat. He rested his arm on the table and continued watching me, a slight smile on his face.
"It's delicious,"
Earl continued to watch me eat in silence, his gaze fixed on my movements as I enjoyed the meal. It was a relaxing and comfortable moment, and I was grateful for his quiet, companionable presence.
As we sat in the restaurant, enjoying our meal, a loud noise came from outside.
"What's that?" Earl asked, looking up from his food and towards the door.
We couldn't make out what the sound was at first, but soon, people started gathering outside, looking towards the source of the noise.
I got up from my seat, taking a piece of bread with me, and followed Earl who was also drawn towards the crowd. As we made our way outside, and blended in with the crowd, I began to hear what the commotion was about.
As I pushed my way through the crowd, trying to get a better glimpse of what the commotion was about, I overheard a heated exchange between a middle-aged man and ....
As I looked up, your eyes beheld the sight of a beautiful girl. Her long blond hair flowed gracefully around her slender frame, and two curved horns adorned her forehead.
She stood tall despite the heavy chains that bound both her hands and feet, the cold metal digging against her delicate skin.
"Take that, you piece of crap!" the man said angrily, stepping on a girl.
"Excuse me, what's going on?" I couldn't help but ask, shocked by the situation unfolding in front of me and not sure how to react.
As I looked more closely at the fairy, I noticed that she was dressed in a colorful but simple outfit, typical of fairy kind.
"What was that?!" I exclaimed, shocked at what I had just witnessed.
An old man standing nearby replied, "A dragonkin "You thief!" the hunter shouted, crushing the delicate wing with his hand.
As the creature cried, I could only watch silently, feeling utterly powerless to help.
"How horrible," I said with shock, as the fairy continued to cry and the hunter continued to abuse it.
Your heart ached as you met the dragon kin's gaze. Her eyes were a beautiful shade of pink, but they held no warmth, only a coldness that seemed to pierce through you. Despite her physical beauty, the lifelessness in her eyes was palpable, a stark contrast to the vibrancy her presence would suggest. As you observed her, the chain that bo
"A dragonkins wing is her life," the man standing beside me said.
"Then why won't anyone save her?" I asked, feeling a sense of desperation and sadness for the little creature.
"Well," the old man replied. "Shes a dragonkin . No one will risk their life for a dragonkin's."
I was horrified at what I was hearing. “Why the dragons life was valued so little? she was still weeping but no one seemed to care. “I said
The old man nodded solemnly. "I know," he said, "but it's too dangerous and besides…it’s completely legal”
“Legal? They call this thing legal?” I walked closer to the hunter, who had the fairy trapped in his hands tightly.
"I'll do anything to have my wing back! I’ll take back what’s mine!"she glared at him
"Then I'll just kill you right here," the hunter replied, squeezing the fairy even more tightly in his hands.
I felt a sense of urgency wash over me. I knew I had to act quickly before it was too late.
How could I just stand here and watch this injustice unfold before me?
I stood there, frozen in place, staring at the beautiful dragon kin in front of me. My heart ached as I watched her, bound by chains and unable to communicate. I felt a pang of helplessness and self-blame. Why couldn't I do something? Why was such a beautiful creature being punished like this, reduced to nothing more than a lifeless vessel?
Everything seemed to happen in a blur as the man raised the whip, preparing to strike the dragonkin. Without thinking, pushed I pushed the man forcefully, knocking him back just before he could deliver the blow with the whip. The world seemed to fade away as I acted out of sheer instinct,
i noticed the man's hesitation and the whispers from the crowd. maybe he was hesitating because he thought i were a noble or someone important. The way he was looking at me and how he was reacting might be because he was considering the consequences of what he was going to do, based on what he thought my social status was.
everyone is distracted the fairy didnt waste anytime and snatched her wings out from the hunters hand
"wait"i called out
The fairy turned to face me and glared at me angrily. "Why should I wait?" the fairy spat, running away. "As if I would ever thank a human for anything! Humans have caused nothing but misery for my kind. Disgusting humans"
With those words, the fairy turned and run off never looking back. I was left standing alone, feeling powerless and small in front of the fairy's anger and hatred towards humans.
Earl stepped up and stood in front of me. Before I knew it, we could hear the sound of horse galloping and the knights were approaching.
“They found us “he whispered
“We found Prince Earl,” one of the knights announced before I could fully understand what was happening.
In that same moment, something hard hit my head and I saw stars, my vision blurring. It happened so quickly, and I didn't have time to react.
"earl?...."
