Chapter 5:

Family of Anomaly

NovaZ : Forgotten Name

Kairen was waiting at the place where they had agreed to meet tomorrow. But Kairen was thinking about something—he looked stressed. A carriage stopped, and a man inside said, “It looks like you’re waiting for this letter.”

“You know exactly what this could be,” the man said.

Kairen replied, “Yeah, I know. But I need an official letter sent by the Euxler family so I can work on it.”

“Hey! You were here!”

At a distance, Lan, Yenza, and Yuke were shouting.

“Looks like we’re late. Sorry for that!”

The man inside the carriage said, “So, you have a new guild now?”

Kairen’s gaze turned cold as the carriage began to move.

Breathing heavily, they said, “Sorry for being late.”

“I’ll forgive you this time. Next time, be on time.”

“Okay, leader,” they replied.

Yenza asked Kairen, “Where are we going?”

“That’s the problem. We were supposed to go to the next town, but now that’s cancelled.”

They asked, “What’s the reason?”

“You saw the woman yesterday in Eux Citadel, right? There’s been a massacre. Everyone who attended the citadel was killed. And the noble woman you saw was kidnapped.”

Lan said, “No way. Really?”

Yenza laughed, “You hold bad luck, you know that.”

Lan replied, “Really? More than you?”

“Okay okay, I know,” Yenza chuckled.

Yenza asked Kairen, “What could be the reason? I know there’s been a conflict between families.”

Kairen replied, “You’re right. But most of the families believe it was the Anomaly family.”

“Having an Anomaly among noble families is offensive, right?”

“Yeah, it’s offensive. But everyone thought the Anomaly bloodline was gone a long time ago.”

Kairen showed them a letter—an invitation to meet a Euxler family member.

“He’s a servant in the Euxler family.”

Yenza joked, “Do we need to wear a grand dress to meet someone from the Euxler family?”

Kairen replied, “Normally, yes. But we’re not meeting the man behind everything. We’re going to meet the Euxler servant.”

“Servant?!”

Lan said, “Can we get going now?”

They entered a carriage and headed to a place called Milt Grave.

».».»…

After arriving at Milt Grave, a man wearing specs—sharp and lean—welcomed Kairen.

“I’ve been waiting for you.”

“What’s the reason, Yosei?”

“You know what it is. Don’t act like you don’t. You never change, do you?”

They stared at each other.

“Hey guys, enough staring at each other. Come to the point,” Lan said.

Yosei said, “The reason they sent me is to tell you—you need to find the woman before others do.”

“Why me?” Kaisen asked.

“Because that man trusts you. It looks like they’ve already crossed the crater. So, if you hurry, you might find her and capture the gang.”

Yosei said it with a weird smile.

“I need to see if they belong to the Anomaly family.”

».».».»…

Night arrives…

The carriage was ready. Kairen was waiting for the others to arrive. But only Yenza and Lan showed up.

Kairen asked, “Where’s Yuke?”

They told him, “He said he wasn’t coming.”

Lan spoke angrily, “I knew that piece of sh*t would run when there’s danger.”

“Okay then,” Kairen said, “It’s just us now.”

The carriage started moving slowly.

Suddenly, a familiar voice called out, “Stop! Stop!”

Lan was shocked.

“You told us you weren’t coming!”

“I didn’t say anything like that.”

Yenza said, “You lying bastard.”

But Kairen looked at him strangely—he felt something was different.

Then he thought to himself, “I’m not getting enough sleep.”

»..»..»….

As they left the crater, they saw many large Wagon passing by.

Yenza asked Kairen, “What’s with all the carriages? Is this place famous for something?”

Kairen replied, “Yes. It’s famous for its Death Crystal.”

“Death Crystal?” Lan murmured.

Yenza heard it. “You know about that?”

“I’ve heard many products are made from Death Crystals, but I’ve never seen any in the market.”

“Whatever… Let’s focus on finding the woman.”

Yenza noticed Kairen’s expression always changed when someone mentioned the woman—but he didn’t ask about it.

»..»..»..»…..

Their carriage now entered a deep forest that led to the next town, where they suspected the gang was hiding. Inside, everyone sat silently, lost in thought.

Yenza tried to use his Lyth to transform Lyzen into a katana. He almost succeeded—but failed.

Lan said, “You’re already close. You’re a fast learner.”

“Oh sorry! No one to teach you. You learned everything by yourself.”

Yenza smirked while looking at his Lyzen.

“Always.”

Yenza thought back. That’s right. There’s no one to help. You learn by yourself and grow. That’s how it is… and always will be.

Kairen said, “Hey Yuke, you’ve been quiet. That’s not like you—you’re usually talkative.”

Yuke said, “Stop... stop…”

His voice became violent.

“STOP!!”

Lan and Yenza asked, “Hey, what’s happening?!”

Yuke raised his face.

Everyone froze.

His face—it became loose and fell off.

Underneath… a face with no eyes, no nose, just a gaping skull with jagged teeth.

Lan shouted, “What are you?! Where is Yuke?!”

Even without a mouth, a voice echoed:

“He is safe… where he should be.”

Kairen ordered, “Get out of the carriage!”

In the blink of an eye, the thing appeared in front of Lan—its hand shaped like a blade, thrusting forward.

Lan barely defended with his katana—but it shattered into pieces.

He leapt back, breathing heavily.

Kairen muttered, “It looks weak... but it’s not.”

The creature charged forward again —Yenza blasted it with Lyzen.

BOOM!

The creature was blown back—half its body burned. Smoke rise from its side.

Yenza had fired with precise aim—his skills were improving rapidly.

But now… it turned its gaze toward Kairen.

Yenza shouted, “I’ll handle it!”

He began transforming Lyzen—this time into a perfect katana. No flickers. No delay.

The monster dashed.

But Yenza moved faster.

 SLASH »»»

In an instant—both its arms and legs were severed.

Blood sprayed like mist.

Kairen appeared behind it—blades in hand. Ready to end it.

Suddenly, the creature’s head grew eyes and lips, mimicking the face of the noble woman.

Kairen’s hand trembled.

The shock in his eyes—frozen.

The creature raised its hand, transforming it into a long, sharp blade.

Just as it was about to strike»»»

Its head rolled and landed on Kairen’s foot.

He stared at it, breath heavy.

Yenza said coldly:

“Don’t let it fool you. Sometimes, beauty hides lies… and regret.”

The Night After the Massacre…

An investigator arrived—sent by the Euxler family.

Somewhat old, but not too old, he was also known as The Eyes of Euxler.

Before entering the citadel, he stood outside, watching the grand building.

He entered.

What he saw:

A clean room.

Dozens of bodies.

No blood.

Heads separated.

No signs of escape.

He picked up a bunch of severed heads and whispered:

“It feels empty.”

A person still sat in a chair—headless—but upright, like nothing had happened.

“I can feel… its real head is still here. But… it’s not.”

A man beside him asked, “Did you find anything, sir?”

He replied,

“No blood. Someone used a Lyth that can create perfect copies—but not blood. It consumes far more energy than simply killing them.”

Then the investigator narrowed his eyes.

“Someone’s pulling the strings... but who?”
