Chapter 1:
The Self Proclaimed "Famous" High School Detective & Her Assistant, Get's "Isekai"
Inside an abandoned highway tunnel, there were two female high school girls:
Sayaka Haruno, 18, long brown hair tied in a ponytail, wearing a rolled-up, long button-up white dress shirt with blood around the stomach area, a dirtied long navy blue skirt, torn black thigh socks, and black muddy shoes
Emila Watson, 18, long blond hair, wearing a long button-up dress shirt with blood-soaked wrist sleeves, with a bloodied long navy blue skirt, torn black thigh socks, and black muddy shoes.
"I'm so sorry, Emila!" a female voice was heard apologizing, with tears running down her face, while the sound of a shovel hitting the dirt echoed in a dark, dimmed tunnel.
"It's okay! I've made my peace with it already, so continue digging, Haruno," Emilia responded, while the sound of key strokes quickly echoed. "Okay.......I've compiled the important parts into this video, so all that's left is to upload it." *CLICK* as she pressed the Enter Key.
"Okay, let me get the other thing ready, too," Emila stated, as she stood up from the ground, placing the laptop on the dirt-covered stone ground. She proceeded to walk over to a wooden table where a black metallic suitcase, measuring seventeen inches tall by thirteen inches wide, was lying on top. She carefully lifted the suitcase, wrapping it in a brown tweed-pattern long coat, while stuffing rolls of artichoke paper inside. "This should act like an extra layer of cushion."
"The hole should be deep enough now!" Haruno stated while she stood inside the three-foot hole. "Pass me the suitcase now."
"Here, careful now," Emila warned, while she carefully lowered the suitcase to her, watching her slowly place it on the ground. Haruno proceeded to climb out with Emila's support, filling the hole back up with dirt and finally, placing a metal road sign on top of it.
"What is the percentage on that upload now?" Haruno inquired as the voices of people speaking a foreign language began to echo loudly inside the tunnel. She proceeded to sit down on top of the metal sign, leaning against the brick wall, huffing and puffing, trying to catch her breath. 'I guess this is it, huh?"
"It's currently at ninety-seven percent," Emila replied, as she picked up the laptop from the ground and sat next to Haruno, leaning onto her right shoulder, while continuing to monitor the upload percentage on the screen. "We had fun the past three years, didn't we?"
"We sure did!" Haruno laughed. "What is your favorite memory of our adventure so far? Mine was the time we had to outrun that mother bear when we accidentally got too close to her cubs, who were playing with that dismembered foot." As she covered her eyes with her left hand as tears began to fall.
"My favorite memory would have to be the time we busted that village mayor for accepting a bribe from that sketchy CEO. They want to propose to tear down that forest to build another hot spring resort," Emila answered. "When we finally exposed him in front of the entire village, he tried to attack you, but you ended up judo flipping into the ground while his toupee flew into the air," giving a sad laugh.
"We did well with our time here. It's only a s-shame t-that o-o-our a-a-adventures h-h-here ends t-today." Haruno stuttered as she tried to hold back her tears.
"S-S-Stop it! I've made my peace already, and you are making it w-worst." Emila responded, "T-t-the video has been u-uploaded and f-finished r-rendering. Are you r-ready for it to Go Live?"
The sounds of heavy footsteps were approaching closer. Haruno could see the bright lights from flashlights moving around in the darkness, and the sound of yelling in a foreign language became more distinct.
"Yes," Haruno stated, "I'm so sorry for all of this, My Dear, Watson." followed by the sound of a keystroke being entered.
"Me too, I'm so sorry that our adventures end today, My Dear, Holmes," Emila replied as she pressed another keystroke. "I hope in our next life, we can continue our adventure as Sherlock Holmes & Her Assistant, Emila Watson.
As they both closed their eyes, holding each other's hands tightly.
*Rumbling* *Rumbling*. The sounds of the tunnel walls began to shake violently as it started to cave in, with the sound of panicked voices and yelling continuing until nothing was heard.
"BREAKING NEWS, WE ARE CURRENTLY ON SITE WHERE A GPS COORDINATE WAS PROVIDED IN A SHOCKING VIDEO, ONLY A FEW HOURS AGO," a female reporter explained, while traveling above in the helicopter.
"Hello, Everyone! My name is Sayaka Haruno, but you may know me as The Famous Female High School Teenager, Sherlock Holmes, and I'm here with my wonderful assistant, Emila Watson."
"Now, we mentioned earlier on our social media page that we would be investigating the rumor sighting of a Tsuchinoko, but what we encountered was even worse!
"Now, I would like your close attention to the details that I will be providing you all from our investigation today."
The camera zooms closely into an open black suitcase, with five metal cylindrical containers, measuring four inches tall and less than one inch wide, with their labels facing upward.
One of the metal cylindrical containers had a whitish label with black lettering on the other side, with red stains smudging some of the letters, C-C: A-H-AX in English, while another had the same red staining on the whitish label, CD-: S-LL-P-X.
"After consulting with my wonderful assistant, we have concluded that these containers contain the stolen virus samples that were stolen from the CDC in the United States of America a week ago," Haruno began to explain.
"Now, as you can tell.......we screwed up big time!" Haruno stated, while starting to laugh, "As we headed toward the rumor location, we accidentally stumbled into a black market weapon trade in progress, and here we are now, in this dark abandoned highway tunnel, hiding from them." Haruno continued to explain as Emila zoomed out and showed the interior.
"Before the comments start rolling in about notifying the police, we have attempted to alert the police, but in the countryside, they didn't believe us, and here I thought I was famous around the world. " Haruno began to shed a few fake tears. "So our only solution is to post this video to spread some awareness of our situation."
"Unfortunately, for us, time is not on our side," as Haruno took out a black, broken device. "This is a GPS tracker that was stuck on the inside of the suitcase, and it was transmitting our location the entire time. It's only a matter of time before they catch up to us."
"Naturally, we have considered running, but that is not a possibility at the moment," Haruno stated, as she shifted her tweed coat, revealing that she had been shot on the side of her stomach. "WORRY NOT! We have decided that we will protect this suitcase with our lives!" as she took out a shovel and a metal road sign.
"If you have any family members or friends in high places, please let them know of our situation and provide them with our GPS coordinates, which should be appearing on the screen now," Haruno requested as she began to huff & puff, falling over onto the ground, while Emila called out to her.
"HARUNO!! I'm going to give you another round of morphine, so hang on tight!" Emila was seen yelling, taking out a medical bag as the camera crashed into the ground.
"As you can see down below, the Japanese Self-Defense Forces arrived less than an hour ago since the posting of the video. They have begun to secure the area with a three-hundred-mile off-limits perimeter area, with over one thousand heavily armed soldiers standing by," the female reporter reported, as she gestured with the camera to look doward at the collapse tunnel site, where multiple soldiers were setting up plastic barricades and metal fencing while other soldiers surveyed the open land with binoculars.
"This should demonstrate the severity of the case! If those containers mentioned in the video are truly the stolen samples, this could become an international biological incident." The female reporter continues to report, "I do apologize, but we have been informed we must leave this airspace as this is now a no-fly zone. We will continue to provide updates at the station."
After three hours of careful excavation, the Japanese Self-Defense Forces were finally able to reach the area where the suitcase was buried, with the road sign acting as a marker. Underneath the road sign, they were able to secure an undamaged suitcase wrapped in a bloodied tweed jacket, and with the assistance of the CDC, they were able to properly confirm that all the stolen samples have now been recovered.
In the official new reporting, a total of thirteen bodies were discovered, including the bodies of the two teenage girls.
In the official report given to the Prime Minister of Japan, the thirteen bodies were all foreign national adult males, with no teenage bodies ever recovered. This report was later sealed up to prevent further investigation into this already disastrous incident.
This event would later be called "The Detective & Her Assistant Sacrifice," with the collapsed tunnel serving as a memorial site in their honor, with the President of the United States & the First Lady attending the official opening ceremony as they laid flowers onto their gravesite.
Now to this day, aspiring mystery writers, police officers, detectives, & soldiers will make the pilgrimage to this memorial site in hopes of finding the same courage and determination that these girls demonstrated on that fateful day.
The only question that remains now: Where did they go?
