Chapter 4:

Sibling squabbles

Dragon's Laud

I'm in shock. Earlier I was bluffing on being a villain (I'm not cut out for that role either) hoping that they would send me back home. There is no way I heard that right. She wants to destroy a whole kingdom?

"Kem and I need your help to bring the Kingdom back into our family's rule." Sonja states as if she has it all planned out.

"Does your brother know about this? You know I'm only human right?" I begin my question brigade but get cut off.

"The Tarra family that I'm descended from is the rightful ruler of these lands. We care for the creatures, soil, trees, waters, mountains and air more than anyone in this kingdom. That's part of the reason I'm out here healing parts of the forest. Along with woman are not on the council." She mumbles the last part.

"Wait, so you're a princess?" I ask.

"No. My family is the head of the council and if a vote ends in a tie, we break the tie. Our family also chooses the topics to be discussed at meetings. We also tend to have the stronger summons til Gilton summoned Tundra and beat my great times six grandpa in a dual. Ever since than he has used fear and his dragon to wipe out all that get in his way. So everyone stays quiet and doesn't fight back." She explains.

Sounds like she has a traumatic past, talks to animals well dragon, lives in a secluded shack guarded by said dragon, there's a villain and does have a pretty face and legs. I think she meets the criteria for most of the princess stories I have heard. I nod to myself, proud of my deductions.

"Wait, your-" I start counting on my fingers "great great great great great great grandpa lost to this Gilton and this Gilton guy is still ruling?" I ask.

"Yea and there is no chance of my next few descendants seeing him fall from a natural death so we need to go with an unnatural route."

She is talking of treason over a bowl of delicious rat soup like it's normal table talk!

"I can't help with that." I state. She just described some fearsome undying ruler and thinks I will hop on board?

"But you're the prophesied one! I just know it!" She exclaims.

"You just said yourself this man has been alive for hundreds of years and is some O.P. boss. People with actual powers have lost to him. What am I supposed to do?" I set my soup down since my appetite is now gone.

"O.P. boss? What? Never mind. I know you have stronger powers then him." She says confidently.

"What? All I have done so far is obey that kid brother of yours commands to sit and be quiet. I'm not a dragon or some powerful being. I am a human, a simple fresh and bone human." I stand up anger coursing through my blood. If she wasn't a girl I probably would have decked her to get my point across.

She sets her soup down then quietly speaks, "Ragon?"

She is peeking up from under her bangs. My heart about stops and my blood pressure drops. What in the world is this feeling?

"Y-yes?" I stammer taken by surprise. Her feistiness is even stranger than ever.

"I'm sure you can get stronger if we train. Yea! That's what we will do, train, maybe I can make some magic infused weapons for you." She rambles on with a few more ridiculous theories.

"Sonja!" Kem yells busting down the door.

I leap up onto my chair from the sudden noise. I was not scared from seeing that giant rat earlier. Nope.

"What is it?" She asks.

"You're scaring him." Kem states. They look at me on the chair.

"How did you get here?" I ask pointing at him. We got here by dragon and I was his failed dragon summon.

"Magic square? How else?" He states.

"Oh, turns out he isn't from this place and can't use magic." Sonja points out.

"Oh so your from the Sapian kingdom." Kem says.

"No, like he is from some where else entirely. What was the place called?" Sonja asks.

"Japan. But I understand I was summoned here by you and she thinks I'm some magical being that will save your kingdom. Yet I am very much a powerless human that wants to get back to his home." I explain. "Wait, how are you all speaking my language?"

"Remember that obedient spell that got casted on you?" Sonja asks and I nod. "So that makes it so you can speak with your summoner and for you to understand them."

"I will say that is convenient." I state.

"Yep!" Sonja says happily.

"I promise I will send you back as soon as we find the correct spell." Kem says in a genuine way.

"In the mean time, you can help us with our problem since we are helping you with yours? Ehh? Ehh?" Sonja slyly asks.

Kem gives her a death glare. And starts forcefully whispering to her about being nice to me.

"Ragon step outside for a little bit while I talk some sense onto my sister." He smiles with an ominous aura seeping from him.

My body begins to move on its own toward the door. "Uh, I don't think I should be outside. Guys? Guys?! Could I please stay in the shack!?"

Their bickering got fairly heated while I was in the building but once I left they were yelling at the top of their lungs at each other. I pounded on the door begging to come back in. Thats when I heard it.

"Squee?" Comes a faint sound from the bush to my right.

I slowly look over and there is a white and brown giant rat looking at me. It tilts its head and takes a step forward. Instincts kick in and I'm running. Not sure where but I'm running.

"Morgan! Meghan! Melly! Molly! What ever your name is! I need your help!" I beg and plea for Sonja's dragon to at least help me. No help came, not even a scoff.

I nearly run right off a cliff but catch myself by hanging onto a slender tree. My lungs beg for air from running hard.

"Squee..." Says the rat. This time when I look there are at least 7 more surrounding me. I have no where to go. Scratch that I could fling myself off the cliff but it's not what Potato would do. I pull the tree up from its roots. It's go time.
