The sword, with a sharp, brightly shining blade, was embedded in the stone. The sword had a Phoenix motif on its blade, its hilt adorned with obsidian gems. It looked beautiful; even Tia couldn't help but admire it.
[Host, pull the sword out now! The snake monster is approaching your position!]
Even without being told by the system, Tia unceremoniously pulled the iron blade from the stone. The sword gleamed brightly as if welcoming its owner.
[Ding! Legendary Sword: Sword of Death received!]
[Ding! New feature unlocked! Status Window!]
[Ding! Host level increased!]
[Current Level: 30]
'Boom!'
The church's front door slammed open. The snake monster appeared, hissing. Their eyes met once again.
'Thump.'
Simultaneously, Tia felt her heart constrict.
"Last girl, I need you," Tia was so surprised to hear the snake monster speak to her.
Even Leo, hiding under the altar, was stunned to hear the monster speak.
[Host! Dangerous! Don't listen to it!]
"Don't you want to meet your sister Leila again?"
"She's here with me..."
Tia's vision blurred. A small girl appeared like an illusion. A girl with brown hair, her eyes even the color of her favorite black brownie.
"Big sister," she smiled exactly as she did in Tia's mind.
[Host! Wake up! That's an illusion!]
"Leila...." Tia, as if hypnotized, approached the monster. Her sister Leila was here. Even if she was with her, she would always protect her.
"Big sister, join me."
Tia's expression softened.
At the same time....
"That's the church! The illusionary snake monster is there!"
A group of surviving residents gathered. They ran with their weapons.
The midday sun was hot, but everyone felt their hearts burning even more fiercely to kill the monster.
"Everyone! We can kill that monster! Come on! Come on! Kill! Kill!"
They all arrived right in front of the ruined church door.
Tia stretched out her hand, about to touch the soft hair of the illusionary Leila. But....
'Swoooosh!'
'Splash!'
Everyone was surprised to see how quickly Tia moved her hand, swinging the sword at the little girl's figure!
The little girl clearly didn't expect her action. Her expression froze. But in an instant, she burst into laughter.
"Amazing!"
The sweet voice broke, turning into a hoarse, hissing snake sound that seemed deceptive.
"Hahahaha!"
The girl's form changed. Her skin slowly peeled away, replaced by snake scales, her size grew. She returned to her original form.
A giant, three-headed snake! This time its body was 100% snake!
[Host, how did you discover the trick?]
Tia closed her eyes.
An almost forgotten image, a deep memory, deeply embedded in her mind, flashed.
The system watched the memory.
"Big sister, I hate you," an eight-year-old girl sneered, an expression no child should have.
"I always wished you had died that day." This time she had grown beautiful, 15 years old. The gaze of hatred had never faded.
"Why do you get everything?" The girl grew even older; now she was 18. Staring at Tia with sadness and despair.
"To you, I'm probably just a burden, aren't I?"
"Ha."
"I wish you weren't my sister."
The end of that memory was when Leila lay in her dark room, her back facing Tia.
Tia didn't respond to her words at all.
Even so, she showed no expression. Her last words then were,
"I'm sorry."
Forgive your sister, Leila.
No one realized that was the last time they spoke. Because the next night, the god took Tia to another world.
Tia always loved Leila, though Leila never realized it. Perhaps because they rarely met since childhood, in Leila's eyes, Tia was a cold and quiet figure.
There was an aura of superiority that made Leila not dare to approach her. In the end, the distance between the two of them grew wider.
Seeing Tia grow up to be extraordinary, hearing her parents always praising her, made Leila develop feelings of envy.
In the end, she couldn't help but hate her.
Leila never realized that her parents were always by her side, while Amertia, in a room where books were neatly lined up, tasks scattered, could only stare out the window, watching a family of three play in the yard outside.
'You're old enough for toys.'
'You're too old to play at the amusement park.'
'Give in to your younger sister.'
'Why didn't you buy it for your sister?'
Tia recalled her parents' faces always lecturing her whenever she expressed her 'feelings.' In the end, it was all just memories. Hatred was useless; they had died in that accident.
At that time, Tia, 19, was taken by her parents to the company. Who would have thought that on their way home, a tanker truck would hit their car!
'Bam!'
Amertia spontaneously moved to protect her mother! But a chain collision occurred!
The car behind them hit their car!
The incident happened so fast that Amertia couldn't react.
"Tia... Live."
Amertia sighed.
[Host, this is not the time to dwell on the past! The monster is moving!]
"Attack!!!" A group of people moved to attack simultaneously. The adventurers moved their teams.
"Distract it!"
"Attack its tail!"
The small church couldn't bear the battle.
The snake's tail swept people out and destroyed the church wall!
Tia's body automatically moved to avoid the giant green snake's tail. She jumped backward like an acrobat.
Her eyes quickly searched for an opening, avoiding the violent swish of the reptile's tail.
A blue-haired mage shot ice from his palms while casting an incomprehensible spell.
'Bam!'
'Bam!'
The snake's tail skin wasn't even scratched!
'It looks like an ordinary snake... Is its scale as hard as a dragon's scale?'
Amertia frowned, deep in thought. She swung her sword just as the tail was about to strike her.
'Clang!'
A ringing sound was heard. Amertia's pupils widened.
'Hard as iron! What species is this?!'
[Information can be provided after you kill the monster.]
Once again, Amertia sighed. She jumped onto the snake's body, making it writhe and thrash its body against the church building to dislodge her.
But Tia refused to let go and plunged the sword into its hand.
"Grrraaaaooowwwh!"
"This is our chance, attack it!"
A red-haired man followed Tia and stabbed the snake's back. Strangely, unlike its tail skin, the snake's back skin was very soft.
The snake roared. Tia turned to see that the citizens had taken Leo out from under the altar and sighed, but before she could feel relieved, the tail moved towards Leo!
"Not so fast!"
Tia jumped quickly, throwing her sword through the snake's tail flesh and kicking its tail!
"Quickly, get him out of here!"
The people obeyed, quickly moving Leo away from the battlefield.
"How did you pierce that tail with your sword?!" The red-haired man from before looked at Tia in surprise.
"I don't know either," Tia answered honestly.
[That's because that sword is the Sword of Death.]
What?
Tia picked up the fallen sword and turned, looking at the snake. Her dark eyes fell on its neck.
As if realizing her thoughts, the snake opened its mouth and moved quickly towards her.
"Watch out! He's going to spew illusion gas!" Someone shouted.
