Chapter 13:

Royal Family Obsession

The Devourer of Destiny

The royal princesses, who had not appeared before, now emerged one by one to meet the king, who was still busy accompanying guests. Seeing his daughters appear, the king immediately stepped away from the crowd of guests and let them dance to the music.

From the first to the fourth princess, these exceedingly beautiful royal princesses simultaneously greeted King Murcia with utmost respect. They smiled happily, but also harbored a certain scheme.

"Father, has our 5th sister, Melissa, done it?" the eldest sister, Caroline, asked.

"Don't worry, your sister is quite experienced. Even more so than my third daughter."

As soon as the king mentioned it, the 3rd princess, Ayunda, turned her face, blushing with embarrassment.
These princesses didn't have ordinary thoughts. All that was on their minds was desiring a great offspring.

"Melissa is an expert in that field. Anyone will succumb to her. The magician is no exception. Am I right?" the 2nd princess, Wendy, spoke up.

King Charles nodded and then said, "Of course. She is our proud daughter. By any means necessary, she must make the fire magician succumb to her. That way, when Melissa gives birth to his child, the child will definitely be born strong and healthy."

"You're hoping for so much, and it hasn't even happened yet. Father, what if Melissa fails?" the 4th princess, Vivian, asked with a cunning expression. She even smirked behind her feather fan, as if hoping her sister would fail in the plan.

"If she fails, what do you intend to do?" the king deliberately asked.

Closing her feather fan, she revealed her beautifully made-up face. The 4th princess, Vivian, continued to smile and answered, "Let me take on this role."

"That's cheating!" the other princesses exclaimed in unison.

The plan they had made had apparently been conceived long ago. The Fire Magician, none other than Mahendra, was their target. Seeing such a powerful person made them desire his genes for the next royal generation. The princesses were even unafraid to snatch the role previously assigned to Melissa.

However, the King didn't see this as a risk that his daughters might quarrel. He understood.

"If you wish, do as you please. Whoever can win the heart of the fire magician will then be in power. Replacing me," King Charles said.

Hearing this, the princesses felt there was an opportunity. However, they also didn't know if Melissa would succeed or fail in conquering the man.

"Unfortunately, my other daughters won't get that chance, because they're probably having fun now," the king thought to himself.

The figure of a man, a senior at the Magic Academy, appeared confused among the crowd of nobles. He looked around anxiously, searching for Mahendra, who had disappeared.

Meanwhile, on the other side, in Melissa's room. His intention was to quench his thirst with a sip of the plain water offered, but he didn't expect there to be something in his drink. Mahendra began to feel dizzy in the middle of their conversation.

"I hear you are looking for the Wandering King. To be honest, I haven't believed in such a person, but seeing you... it seems it should be considered."

"Then, does Princess Melissa know where he is?"

"I've heard rumors about him. Shall I tell you now?"

"Oh... of course, go ahead. I... want to hear it."

Right after saying those words, Mahendra, who was about to collapse, surprised Melissa considerably. As if knowing he would fall, Melissa supported him just in time.

"Mr. Mahendra?"

"It seems I should leave now. Princess, I... don't feel well."
His heart urged him to leave immediately, but his body was difficult to move. Melissa just smiled contentedly, and in the end, the man fell onto her bed.

"Mr. Mahendra, I once heard the Wandering King was in Night City, but he left long ago and is said to be in—"

Melissa didn't continue her sentence. She was now silent for a few moments. Melissa sat on the edge of the bed, gazing at the half-conscious man's face. With trembling hands, she reached for the buttons of the black suit the man was wearing.

"I can't believe Mr. Mahendra is this naive. Then this is my good fortune."

Mahendra vaguely saw Melissa's figure, and at the same time, he felt something churning within him. The air grew hot, sweat poured down his forehead, and his breathing even began to become heavy and ragged.

The buttons that tightly covered his muscular body came undone one by one, from his black suit to his shirt, which was not even suitable for this grand party. There were sculpted chest muscles and a thin neck beneath his white shirt collar. Melissa flinched in surprise as she was about to touch his stomach.

"Oh my, his body is so muscular like a fighter, not a magician," Melissa murmured.

Just as Melissa was about to unfasten the last button, Mahendra, who regained consciousness, quickly stopped her. Mahendra gripped the princess's hand, his face flushed.

"Princess Melissa... what are you doing?" he asked in a hoarse, weak voice. His eyebrows twitched; a clear feeling of anger and annoyance was visible on his face.

A line of ancient incantation reappeared, this time not by accident but intentionally by Mahendra himself. His red eyes glowed—staring intensely at the princess, who froze in fear.

"What is this?!"

Mahendra pushed Melissa's hand away, no longer holding it. With just that sentence and one glance from him, Melissa was pushed back away from the bed and fortunately didn't hit the wall.

Little by little, his consciousness returned, but his body was almost unable to move as if paralyzed. Moreover, the turmoil within him had not been released and was difficult to dispel. Mahendra tried to get up but ultimately fell to the floor.Princess Melissa, who never gave up, bravely approached Mahendra again. Though there was fear, she didn't care.

"Mr. Mahendra, you shouldn't move too much," Melissa whispered softly near his ear.

"Get away from me! What exactly are you planning?!"

"I just want to have a child with you."

"Instead of me, it would be better for you to do this with the man you love. I am not a man of honorable status."

"Love is not so important in political kingdoms. Only strong offspring can rule this territory. That way, no one from other territories can subjugate us."

"You are a princess, you are a maiden... woman. Never do something that is not your own desire, because you deserve to be valued," Mahendra said.

Those words, for some reason, touched the princess's heart. Melissa, who had intended to take advantage of the weakened Mahendra, now changed her mind and thought for a moment.

"You value me... me, who is just a political tool?"

"Every woman is still a human being. Of course, they must be valued," he stated logically.

There was no specific intention behind Mahendra's words, which sounded complimentary in his hoarse but firm voice. However, Princess Melissa was moved simply by hearing words she had long wished to hear from someone else.

Mahendra rose from the floor and walked towards a secret staircase. Princess Melissa quickly followed him, asking, "Who are you really?"

Just before stepping away, he paused briefly at the top of the stairs and looked back. He revealed his figure illuminated by the moonlight, expressionless despite facing a girl as beautiful as Princess Melissa. His black hair, half-covering his vision, was blown by the night wind from the window cracks, and his red eyes looked terrifying but not to Melissa, who found them beautiful.

Mahendra blinked for a moment, then sighed. "I am Mahendra. Those who once knew me called me, Devourer Destiny."
