Chapter 13:

Chapter 13

The Edge of Balance

“Heven Welyeh Sha Koon!” yelled Thalorian. The space around him started to twist and turn. A rune appeared on the floor, taking Haverian and Limiria with it as well. They stretched and turned and twisted as their bodies snapped into place just outside the castle.

They had waited until night when the villagers would be in their homes and it was easier to sneak around in the night rather than the day. The three of them sculked around in the cover of darkness, climbing up the stone walls. Magically sticking to them, gargoyles attacked them once more.

“Terris,” whispered Thalorian, destroying the gargoyles. They continued up the wall for a few more minutes before spotting the window opening to the throne room. Thalorian pressed his palm against the stained glass window. One of the five leaders went to investigate the splotch. “Aress!” yelled Thalorian, shattering the glass and sending shards everywhere. The three of them dived into battle against the Crown. The leaders rushed them with magic and swords, but they parried, blocked and dodged their way through the crowd. Surprisingly Byron was back up and fighting after what had happened to him back in the Eastern Isles. Byron went into a rampage, swinging his giant sword wildly at Thalorian, who skillfully dodged the blows and landed atop his sword while delivering a blow to the head. Byron threw his head back and forth shaking Thalorian off.

“You are still weak! I will destroy you!” yelled Byron, bringing his sword back down on Thalorian, who sidestepped and jumped back on top of Byron.

“Luma Elia,” yelled Thalorian, pressing his hand against Byron’s mouth as water shot out of it and. Byron coughed and choked as he drowned in the magical water, eventually falling to the ground, unconscious. The mage raised their hand to revive Byron but Thalorian was faster. He bolted forward, and slitted the woman's throat.

Limiria and Haverian were dealing with Charlotte Lillania and Herald Wirinthon. Thalorian made a mad dash to the Crown. Hanz slid in front of him and parried his blow with a long silver sword adorned with rubies and gold. Hanz thrusted his blade forward, Thalorian dodged to the right and fired off another blow.

“Voltis Elia!” yelled Thalorian firing a bolt of lightning straight at Hanz. Hanz ducked to the ground but the electricity was attracted to his armour and he was still struck.

“You! You are nothing!” yelled Hanz getting back up and cutting at Thalorian's chest. Hanz’s blade was tipped with blood and they continued fighting.

“Shan Vryon!” said Thalorian, trying to heal his wounds.

“Did you think that Byron was the only person with an enchanted sword! You can never heal the wounds of a reaping blade!” laughed Hanz. Thalorian slid under Hanz and kicked him in the back. Hanz stumbled forward, but spun around and swung his blade back at Thalorian. Thalorian parried the blow but still took some damage.

“Crya Elia!” yelled Thalorian. Hanz dodged under the ice and laid another attack on Thalorian. Blood spilled out of Thalorian’s chest as the blade reaped him. Thalorian gripped his blade with all his strength cut into Hanz’s armour leaving an opening for attack. “Voltis Elia!” yelled Thalorian once more, shocking Hanz. With Hanz stunned Thalorian brought his blade down on Hanz’s head, cutting straight through it.

“Hey Thalorian, you done?” asked Haverian, glancing at Thalorian.

“Yeah, I’m done,” said Thalorian, looking away from Hanz’s body. Thalorian slowly walked toward the Crown, raising his blade.

“You- you can’t kill me… I’m your leader, your god, you cannot kill me!” yelled the Crown, stumbling back.

“My god,” Thalorian chuckled, “don’t make me laugh, you’re nothing, all you are is an ant proclaiming yourself a god because you had a taste of power. I’m going to tell you something and you’re going to take it to heart because it will be the last thing you hear, You Are Nothing.” Thalorian brought his blade down and killed the Crown.
