Chapter 14:

Chapter 14

The Edge of Balance

Thalorian, Limiria, and Haverian, walked out of the burning castle. People in the streets ran and fled their homes. Was this really the right thing to do? Thalorian asked himself this many times as they walked through the streets of the burning city. Hemess fell to the ground under the might of the magnificent castle it was built around. All was not lost, though. Mages from the castles helped clear rubble with magic, soldiers escorted people safely out of the city.

“This is your fault!” yelled one angry guard as they ran at Thalorian, who easily parried and killed the guard.

One year later Thalorian had destroyed so much in his attempt to save everything that even the Aternum were scared. A loud rumble roared outside.

“Hey, Limiria, what's that noise?” asked Thalorian, peeking his head outside. He didn’t need an answer anymore, the sight was enough. A dark void ripped its way through the ground, sucking up seemingly anything magical. Thalorian grabbed his gear, his sword, cloak, mask, all of the things he wore during adventures. As soon as he stepped outside he began to be pulled into the rift, Thalorian plunged his sword in the ground to slow himself.

Limiria walked out their house and saw the chaos, she reached for Thalorian’s hand. He reached back and felt her skin meet hers and she pulled him out. Haverian was the next to come, he saw everything and ran towards them, but the rocks that were swinging around wildly at the force of this power smashed into his skull and he fell.

“Haverian!” shouted Thalorian.

“It-it’s too late, he’s dead,” said Limiria, looking at her friend’s body.

The rift continued to pull Thalorian in, pulling him until his sword was unlodged and Limiria lost her footing. The two of them were pulled in.
