Chapter 19: Yoru

“Wow, your uncle’s weird,” said Josh, tilting his head.

“I know, he keeps talking about how taco trucks will take over the world,” lied Yoru. I’ve got to make that encounter seem like he really was my crazy uncle Theodore.

“So! Why did you actually come back?” asked Josh.

“Well um, Okay just tell Yoru you can do this, my parents, grandparents and Harry died,” said Yoru. Oh why’d I tell him.

“What! You mean Harry’s dead!” yelled Josh.

“Sh, not too loud, but I mean technically Harry isn’t dead, he just can’t control his body,” stated Yoru. Really Yoru! Really! Why don’t you just share that your brother is the one who killed your parents! “Also Harry was the person who killed them.” Now that was just stupid!

“Like what happened to Steve!” yelled Josh.

“What happened to Steve?” asked Yoru.

“Basically in the middle of class he started screaming and grew, like, bear hair all over him, he became like a foot taller and jumped out the window roaring that Bigteeth is back baby,” recounted Josh.

“Let me get this straight, Harry isn’t the only person to get possessed or something?” doubted Yoru. This is good, now just don’t bring up Ae’vora and- “Also a slime creature called Ae’vora crawled into me and now I can use magic.” How am I this dumb!

“Dude. Normally I’d laugh at you but considering that a Navy Swat team pulled a dead dragon out of the ocean, I’m willing to let that one slide,” replied Josh. “But like can it talk?”

“Hello, my name is Ae’vora, also meaning ‘Magic’ in your language. I am what is known as a gralan,” said Ae’vora.

“Did you just talk with a Boston accent? Or is there actually a slime inside of you?” asked Josh.

“There is actually a slime inside of me,” said Yoru, nonchalantly.

“Maybe we can move this conversation to my house, where it’s a little more private,” said Josh.

“Sure, let’s do that,” replied Yoru.

Yoru slumped down onto one of the bean back chairs in Josh’s room.

“So, what are you going to do now?” asked Josh.

“What do you mean?” replied Yoru.

“I mean that you have magic and a psychopathic brother, so what are you doing about that?” added Josh.

“I don’t know yet, but I know I need supplies, and some wheels,” said Yoru.

“I have some roller skates we can use,” replied Josh.

“Not that kind of wheels, like a car,” stated Yoru.

“Oh! I get it, maybe you can use your parent’s spare car,” suggested Josh.

“Yeah, and I can use my parent’s credit card to buy stuff we need,” added Yoru.

“I know one thing and it’s that you’re not doing this alone, I don’t know about Iris, but I’m coming with you,” said Josh.

“I already texted Iris, she knows and she wants to come,” said Yoru. That second the doorbell rang.

“Josh, Yoru, anyone in there?” yelled Iris.

“I’ll get it,” said Yoru. Yoru walked down the stairs and to the front door. He slowly turned the knob on the door as opened the door slowly.

“Oh hey Yoru!” waved Iris, “is Harry with you guys?”

“Well I guess you could say Harry is the reason we're all here,” said Yoru.

“Did he drive you guys or something?” asked Iris.

“You mean your mom, dad, grandma and grandpa are all dead! And Harry is now a psychopathic murderer!” yelled Iris. What is it my friends and yelling out things I just said! Like seriously!

“Yeah, and this kid can use magic now,” said Ae’vora.

“You can use magic!” yelled Iris, astonished.

“Yes, yes I can,” admitted Yoru.

“Prove it, I don’t believe it,” said Iris.

“Alright watch this!” said Yoru, he began to channel mana into his palms, “Zephra!” A blast of wind struck the wooden wall and splinters shot through it, cracking the wooden surface.

“Hey! What was that for! We just had our walls painted!” yelled Josh, angry.

“Sorry, but you did ask me to demonstrate magic, and would you rather me do it on that ten-thousand piece lego kit you’ve been working on for the past year?” asked Yoru, snarkily.

“You wouldn’t dare,” said Josh, ominously.

“All jokes aside, I’m coming with you to find Harry, you have a plan and the magic to pull it off,” said Iris.

“Thanks guys, but like where are we even going to get weapons, I mean we’re minors so they won’t let us in pretty much anywhere with weapons?” asked Yoru.

“I think I know a place,” said Josh, wittingly.
