Chapter 4:

Chapter 4: Sick

My LVL 999 mage sister still can’t cook!

Sumi woke up the next day with a burning fever. “Onii-chan make me some medicine!!!” She whined at 6AM. It made sense honestly because although she was sick, she was exerting herself a lot, I have the feeling she snuck out while I was gone yesterday since I saw dirt marks on her cheeks which could symbolize falling on the ground, anyhow I decided on following her demand and making medicine. In Chrysalis, we usually make medicine for ourselves and our families instead of buying because getting medicine from a certified healer is expensive and something only nobles can afford. I made a drink with ginger and water and handed it to my sister, she guzzled the cup down as some of the liquid dribbled down her cheek. “This is why I keep telling you to chill out!!! You are sick,” I said to her. “You snuck out yesterday didn’t you?” I asked, slapping my forehead in frustration. “Yes, I did,” she said, blushing with embarassment. “Where did you go?” I asked. “Not much, I went on some errands too, did small missions for some of the citizens like doing deliveries and hunting,” Sumi said sheepishly. “Okay, well, I think we may have to skip recipes for today,” I said. “Okay,” Sumi said, falling back asleep. What would I do with this kid? She never wants to listen. “I should go clothes shopping for the winter,” I said to myself. But what about sumi? I thought, She would surely go out again and keep herself sick for longer. “Kiriya, could you keep an eye on Sumi,” I asked Sumi’s apprentice, Kiriya. Her jet black hair was in two neat fishtail braids today and a lace headband lay on top. “Okay, I will make sure she rests,” Kiriya said, sipping some water from a bottle in her bag. I then went outside and walked a short distance to the clothes shop, I saw a beautiful woman inside, she was probably a cashier. But her dress was unlike most of the dresses women wore in this neighborhood, it was silky and seemed to be made of high quality fabric. “Hello, would you like something sir?” She asked me after I stared in wonder at her dress. “Where did you get that dress from?” I asked her. “Oh, I designed it myself,” she said. “Woah, that is nice, I have a little sister named Sumi, I could take her measurements sometime, would you mind making her a dress?” I asked the cashier. “Of course!” The cashier replied. Meanwhile with Sumi and Kiriya~ Sumi woke up in the afternoon, her head felt warm and her throat felt sore. “Hello Sumi,” Kiriya said. Kiriya? Sumi thought in shock, her own apprentice was babysitting her. “I am so sorry about this, I am holding you back!” Sumi said. “Yes, by not getting better, I understand your passion for your mage job Sumi but your brother told me you were very stubborn recently,” Kiriya said, Sumi blushed in embarrassment. “But nevermind that, would you like to take a warm bath, I can heat up the water for you,” Kiriya said, clasping her hands together. Kiriya heated up the water and Sumi took a long shower, she then got out and sat on her matress, her grey futon covering her. “Would you like me to do some work, I promise I will take care of myself,” Sumi said. “Nope, you are resting today,” Kiriya said, Sumi argued with her a bit but Kiriya was firm on her mentor. After I finished buying the dresses for Sumi, I went back home and saw Sumi laying on her bed sulking with Kiriya next to her. “Was she good?” I asked. “She was trying to argue with me and getting me to let her outside but was good for the most part,” Kiriya said, Sumi hated how her apprentice was evaluating her like this but she knew Kiriya was right and she needed to take care of herself better to get back to mage duties. “If you need anymore help taking care of her, just ask me,” Kiriya said, she then left and Kubato placed a paper bag filled with clothes on the ground. Although Kiriya was kind of annoying, Sumi did find it nice her apprentice was taking care of her while she was sick. “I found this nice dressmaker while getting clothes, she makes beautiful dresses so I wanted to take your measurements,” I said. “Nice!” Sumi replied and she smiled, she was excited to get a dress sewn for her. She had a good plentiful sleep that night.
