Chapter 5:

Chapter 5: Demoted

My LVL 999 mage sister still can’t cook!

“So itchy!” Sumi whined after receiving her dress. The dressmaker looked really embarassed and I nudged Sumi. “But it’s fine! Thank you!” Sumi said but it sounded really fake. Somehow the dressmaker believed it but me and Sumi walked away after. “I can resize it for you and cut down a bit of the lace but you need to practice being a little less honest sometimes..” I said, laughing a bit. Then we went home and Sumi immediately asked “what recipe will we make today?” “I think we should make some crepes, I am feeling something sweet,” I said. “Okay, do we have all the ingredients?” Sumi asked. “Yep, we do, let me teach you how to make them,” I said, bustling over to the kitchen. Sumi followed me and I opened the bag of tortilla bread. “Crepes are pretty creative, you can add melted chocolate, sprinkles, honey, whatever you like. So first we open the tortilla and then add the toppings of choice,” I said. “Okay Kubato!” Sumi said, she then unfolded her tortilla and added some melted chocolate and blue sprinkles, she  then glanced at me. “Okay, the next step is toasting it in the microwave,” I said, I then placed the crepe I made (which had strawberries, bananas, and chocolate inside) in the microwave. “Wait for mine to be finished first okay?” I asked. “Okay,” sumi said, she then sat on the couch and kicked her legs out. Mine was then finished, “Okay Sumi, you can make yours now,” I said and she went over to the counter and put her crepe in the microwave. She waited until it beeped and then opened the microwave and took out the crepe. “This looks so good! Chocolate is leaking though from the heat,” Sumi said. “Put it on a plate so it doesn’t make a huge mess,” I said and Sumi nodded, she placed it on a plate and then came with me to the dining room to eat it. “Mmm, so good,” We both said at the same time when we bit into our crepes. “You can also make healthy versions of this where you put ingredients like blended fruits and granola inside,” I said. “Good idea,” Sumi said, she preferred eating healthy since as a mage, you need to be healthy enough to fight. “Well, anyway, I am glad you enjoy this meal!” I said. “Yeah, but can Kiriya visit?” Sumi asked. “Sure, she can visit!” I said. In the afternoon, I sent a letter to Kiriya asking her to visit and only a few minutes after it arrived, she was already here. “Sumi, will you soon be back on mage duty?” Kiriya asked. “Yeah, she probably will be back tomorrow or after,” I said. “Okay, well be good and try your best to heal in the meantime,” Kiriya said, patting Sumi’s head. “Hey!” Sumi said, flinging Kiriya’s hand off. “We also made crepes, would you like one?” I asked. “Sure,” Kiriya said, she rushed inside the living room and I made her a crepe. “This is so good!” Kiriya said. She sat down on the floor and then glanced at a stack of books. She started flipping into them and read them. “You do realize this isn’t your house, right?” Sumi asked. “SUMI!!!” I said, gasping, what did I just tell her about being too honest? But Kiriya only laughed. “Well, yeah,” she said, placing the book back on the floor. The next day, we went back to the mage’s guild to say that Sumi was all better. We saw a girl who looked like Miyuki from work. “Miyuki?” I asked. “I work here too!” Miyuki said. “Oh..okay, well, my sister is all better,” I told Miyuki. “Good for her but she is officially demoted,” Miyuki said. “What do you mean?” I asked. “Well, she took at least 5 days to heal, we can’t have such a clumsy irresponsible mage in our group, so she is demoted to be an assistant receptionist,” Miyuki said, Sumi looked shocked. “No, you can’t do this!” She shouted. Kiriya stared at her with an extreme amount of guilt. “Kubato, you can leave now, your sister will stay and do her job,” Miyuki said, she held Sumi’s hand and I left.

~switch to Sumi’s perspective~ “how could you do this? I was sick, please I promise I can work,” Sumi said. “Yes, you will work as a receptionist and help me, and now you are only at level 34, so I suggest you work hard to gain your place again,” Miyuki said. “Kiriya will now take your place as lead mage and also, you now have extra hours as a receptionist,” Miyuki said, Sumi frowned and Kiriya looked embarrassed. But Sumi continued working as a receptionist for the entire day. “Good work Sumi,” Kiriya said. Sumi couldn’t bear this, she needed to help. She then glanced at the TV, it read: Breaking news, LVL 800 mage gets kidnapped to the demon realm. Sumi thought of this, the demon realm was a sad place and if the mage got taken there, he wouldn’t live long, despite his status. At the end of the day, when Sumi left, she realized she needed to save the mage and the only way to do that was… “Kimura, please take me to the demon realm!” Sumi requested. Kimura was a worker at the mage’s headquarters who was part demon and came from the demon realm. “Are you sure, you are now only level 34 so you won’t have the same strength,” Kimura said. He had dark black hair and wore a white button shirt, he wore jeans under it and looked generally like a human but he had long fangs like a demon and short demon horns that he tried his best to cover with his hair but always ended sticking out. “Please, take me,” Sumi said. “Sure, I will,” Kimura said, “But let’s go somewhere private first,” he then took Sumi to the forest and then opened a portal with his hands. It was glowing purple and so alluring. Sumi then went inside and she fell into the Demon realm.
