Chapter 69:

Epilogue for Lucasyna's Civil War (Lux)

When I bought That Suspect Baroque Closet and Lamp, I Didn't Expect to Be a Mundane Wizard for the Demon Prince of Another World

Henka-guard and Lady Bluesteed collapsed on the plush rug in Kairo’s villa, after repeatedly doing portal-jumps out of Etshian, and a mad run to reach the palace.

As soon as they had exited the Laboratory Maze, hordes of Crud Pirates had caught sight of them, keeping up with their portal-jumps, and chasing them across the flat plains from one sun-turn (day) to the next without pause.

Lady Bluesteed had commandeered a power car near a check point at the edge of a plain, leading the chase into the monster forest of the Palace of Prince’s lake region.

The last leg to the lake, saw them jump out of the flying car to collide with the oncoming pirates.

Lady Bluesteed and Henka-guard used a movement talisman scroll to escape the fall into shrieker infested waters. The monsters had a feast of pirates to keep them happy for a while.

It was only when they reached the villa via the orrery portal mechanism, did Lady Bluesteed feel she could relax.

“I hope they know what they’re doing,” she said as she stared at the roof.

Henka-guard huffed, feeling beyond exhausted. If Kairo hadn’t cleared the tunnel for their escape, it would’ve been over for them.

“The Demon King is a scary man.” He shivered, but added. “I trust Boss and Genie.”

Lady Bluesteed sat up, feeling better and sure about the future. “Me too. They sacrificed themselves to make sure this war can be won. I just pray they survive and come back to us.”

Henka-guard felt the desire to be intimate with his girl, but they still had a job to do.

Lady Bluesteed was already up and making a call to Lyon through a magic crystal, which looked similar to a navigator. She provided him a quick update and acknowledged her orders to visit his private chamber with Henka-guard.

A short while later they stood before Lyon in his living area, which was the same one he had his private talk with Kairo.

“I feel my father and brother’s lifeforce is off world. What happened?” Lyon soberly asked her.

Lady Bluesteed sighed and truthfully recounted their journey to the Shadow Cabal’s headquarters, the plans to use Genie and Kairo as catalysts for Alric’s twisted vision, and the men's plans to take Alric with them to Earth. As they saw it was the only way to deal with him.

She handed Genie's stone to Lyon, who frowned as he examined it.

Lyon felt his brother’s magic like a warm tingle to his skin: strong emotions of loyalty, trust and thankfulness rushed into his spirit heart as a reminder of their brotherly bond. It also held feelings of his baby brother’s goodbye.

"This is his Nikala memory stone. I gave this to him when he was relearning to be a demon."

Lady Bluesteed thought she glimpsed a tender moment from Lyon, but it was fleeting.

“Let’s see what Genie has left for us.” Lyon cast a spell to unlock the stone's memory with use of his blood.

The living area was transformed into a magical space of information containing maps, profile details, plans and investigation reports of Lyon, Kairo, Genie and many others. Many reports had captured intimate moments of Kairo and Genie at various locations.  Some showed shots of Lady Candice with her brother, the sekkats and Leela confronting Kairo and Genie at the archives.

Lyon moved this hands in a flourish to change the details. The information surrounded them, moving into midair formations to complete logical pieces of crucial details.

His heart raced when he saw numerous vantage points and privileged details of the Shadow Cabal’s locations, extensive maps of their networks, and chains of command.

“How did he capture all this?” He was baffled, impressed and thankful.

Lady Bluesteed saw a tiny gold ball hovering among the midair details. She touched it and felt a warm emotion flow into her, soft and tender like Genie's hug. Tears stirred to her eyes, but she brushed them back as she looked at the magical note that was being written before them.

“Brother, if you’re reading this clever note, then I’ve succeeded in passing this information to you. And what a whole heap of reckoning we can do with it…” Genie explained how he obtained the data.

He saw his kidnapping as a blessing in disguise, for as they were hauling him to their headquarters, he was carefully planting pieces of his spiritual consciousness all over the area. They acted as his eyes and ears while he was bound.

The shamans' arrogance and underestimation of his weak responses was his saving grace. By the time they'd bound his magic, privileged information on his enemy was being discreetly fed into his memory stone. He believed his friends would rush to save him, which paid off.

“I’ll not waste this gift. Thank you brother.” Lyon resealed the information into the stone and stowed it away, returning the area to the living room again. He faced Henka-guard, “As one of the privileged people here, you shall be my personal squad captain and accompany me to the capital.”

Tells welled in Henka-guard’s eyes with honor. He gave a royal salute. “Sire!”

Lady Bluesteed sighed, guessing the promotion was a way to ensure he didn’t spill beans. Naturally Henka-guard didn’t see it that way, and Lyon was right to make him his elite squad captain as he was loyal to a fault.

Lyon faced Lady Bluesteed. “I’ll entrust the Palace of Princes to your care.”

“Me?” Lady Bluesteed frowned. “Sire, I don’t think I’m qualified.”

But Lyon patted her shoulder with reassurances. “Do you doubt my judgment?”

Lady Bluesteed shook her head. He was right. In the past, she would've been unworthy for the role, but she had earned her nobility and fought against the Demon King to bring back Genie’s memory stone with vital information to end the war. She understood enough of the political dangers from the insurgency. Her confidence was at an all-time high.

“No, Sire. I’ll ensure your trust in me is well-placed.” She bowed with her acceptance.

Next day, Lyon wasted no time in gathering forces to eradicate the Shadow Cabal threat. Within weeks his forces had wiped out key pockets of the order, and within months the entire organization structure was dismantled and destroyed. Squads were sent to hunt down the stragglers, but they were no longer a threat to his rule.

With Lady Bluesteed's assistance, he normalized and repaired the damages the civil war had caused to the Palace of Princes and Misculanious. His people's morale was uplifted, as they saw a glorious age on the continent begin.

As Genie had stated, the information he provided made Lyon's rule over the continent ten times easier.  His gift had also provided news of an agreement with other continent Demon Kings. If what Lady Bluesteed had said about Earth was true, then Genie had a lot on his hands. His brothers deserved a stable world to return to. And, unlike his father, if Lux truly needed saving, he'd make his planet's salvation the responsibility of all Demon Kings, without the sacrifice of another world.

Months after the Star Jump incident, Lyon was unanimously crowned as the Demon King of Lucasyna.

He promoted Court Visor Jan to be a Governor for Etshian. The man's job was to repair the country's damage and reconfirm it to his sovereignty.

Aldrick-pasha was appointed as Chief of Security for the Alurian Gardens Palace. Only Lady Foster knew of his true heritage, aside from Lyon. She was more than willing to keep it that way. She and her son joined her husband, leaving Lady Candice the sole owner of Manning Mansion back at the Palace of Princes.

Lady Candice was granted a title of Honorary Noble, and given the duty of being Governor of the Pavilion Fair Trade Consortium, to ensure a standard practice among the common marketplaces. Her blunt wit and strong people skills ensured that cheaters couldn't prosper. Lyon was happy that her fair way of handling things was bringing in profits.

Jan's old Squad-7 were assigned new duties. Lyt-guard remained in Adell-guard's squad, where both of them were promoted to the frontline to work under Kalious-janissary.

Henka-guard went with Lyon to the capital palace, with his own squad causing some nobles headaches.

The Sekkat Priests were given back title rights to their homeland near the south coast region, which Alric had previously seized during a bloody conquest many solar-turns in the past.

A temple to the Goddess Musrami was reconstructed, and many more malkins chose to forgo their nekamata evolutions to practice the ways of peace. Especially, when Lyon had signed a 1000-solar-turn peace pact with them, which made a lot of malkins happy cats.

As appointed, Lady Bluesteed took over the Palace of Princes as the proxy ruler for the Demon King. Her first action was the dismantling of the Harem, and repurposing it to be a proper educational institution for commoner women, of any race, who wanted to earn the right to be a noble. Lyon was in favor, considering the long term gains of having higher skilled people on his side.

There was minimal resistance toward Lyon's plans of reinforcing the security of his continent and establishing new rules to ensure nobility was an earned right proven by loyalty.

Thus, Lucasyna entered an age of stability. Kairo and Genie's sacrifice of leaving Lux with Alric had paid off, as it effectively led to the end of the Civil War.
