Chapter 18:

The Sacrifice of Uru

The Devourer of Destiny

A Speck of Light, Zia, has loudly revealed Mahendra's identity as the Devourer Destiny. Those who had never considered this before were left speechless, including Princess Melissa, who was deeply concerned about Mahendra's well-being.

"His identity has been exposed this easily. Do they have a way to confirm it?" Princess Melissa wondered to herself.

The entire Mageia City may have been within his grasp, and now Zia wanted to know the face of this Devourer Destiny. Both teachers and students remained silent, their expressions difficult to describe. Their faces seemed to be filled with anger.

"I want to capture him immediately so that all of you are no longer plagued by bad luck. Therefore, show me the face of that person," he demanded.

In the midst of this serious discussion, two more men entered the throne room. This audacity was unforgivable. However, just as the King was about to expel them, one of them intended to reveal Mahendra's face.

"Your Majesty, please forgive my impudence. I have come with a painter to fulfill the request of the God, A Speck of Light. I beg for your permission," said Prince Royce.

"Then show me quickly!" Zia urged.

"Very well." Royce bowed his head slightly as a sign of respect to Zia. He then instructed the painter he had brought to paint Mahendra's face.

The painter only carried a single brush without any paint. He began to swing his brush in the air, painting skillfully and without pause, yet carefully. Black color outlined his body and hair, then red suddenly appeared to paint his two eyes with sharp pupils.

King Charles sat in his chair, clenching his fists. He was holding back his anger and disappointment in himself for being unable to stop them from painting the face of his future son-in-law.

"I tried so hard, but that god... because of him, everything has turned out like this," King Charles thought to himself, looking at Princess Melissa.

Princess Melissa simply sighed, her face clearly showing sadness.

"He looks exactly like that sinner. He won't be able to escape from me this time. Mahendra, is that really his name?"

"That's right. He has long troubled this city, even the place where he studied. He causes people to have very bad luck," explained Prince Royce with malicious intent. He gave a cunning smile, hoping for Mahendra's death.

Zia smiled upon hearing this satisfying confession. He then turned around, intending to leave.

"The cursed one and the Devourer Destiny are the same person. Those who live without bearing the laws of the world will only die within the next few years. I am curious to see if he will still be alive before he meets me."

Liliana, who had secretly listened to their entire conversation, felt both anxious and relieved that Mahendra had not yet been found. Soon after, she went to the back of the academy's field, where the crew of The Sun had gathered.

"Our priority is to find Master Mahendra. I'm not sure if he has left the city, but if you find him, quickly get him out of here. Do you understand?"

"We understand, captain!"

"By the way, captain, when will we sail? To continue the sea journey."

"Our journey is meaningless without the Master. Don't you know that?!" Liliana yelled angrily, showing a fist ready to punch her subordinate.Elsewhere, at the forest border.

A small memory from the past flashed in his mind after he fell into the river. Seeing the beautiful girl beside him, Mahendra thought she might be the one who saved him. However, he didn't know what to do after thanking her.
The gift box and the dagger were still intact. At least he was grateful for that. Now, his priority was to meet the Wandering King, but he had to see Princess Melissa first because she knew of his whereabouts. That was why he still had the gift box.

"Alright, I'm leaving. Goodbye, beautiful girl."

His cold demeanor hadn't changed at all, he left, abandoning the beautiful girl. Since the other paths were blocked, Mahendra had no choice but to venture into the forest, which now felt a bit eerie.

It was still very early in the day, but the air felt cold. Perhaps it was because Mahendra had just fallen into the river, but it might also be because of the forest itself. Mahendra looked around, beginning to hear faint animal sounds. Rustling bushes indicated some kind of creature was there, but Mahendra kept walking without any intention of stopping.

Until tree roots quickly spread from behind, giving Mahendra no time to turn around. The roots locked his entire body—wrists, hands, waist, and neck. A man with pointed ears appeared. His clothes were not in sync with nature, but the brown color of his short cloak made him almost invisible and nearly blended in with the color of the trees.

"Mahendra, is your purpose for coming here to cause chaos in the Kingdom of Murcia, Western Region?"

"Senior Uru, I have no such bad intentions."

"I know you would say that, but what can you prove that you have no ill intentions towards the Kingdom of Murcia?"

"If I had bad intentions, I would have done something harmful to you all from the beginning. It's pointless to act only after being discovered," said Mahendra.

"Hmm, that makes sense. It makes sense. It makes a lot of sense."

Senior Uru had indeed captured him, just as Mahendra had predicted. But he was a bit confused because Uru's attack was completely unexpected. If the two of them were truly enemies right now, Mahendra might not be in this world anymore.

"In that case, senior, can you release me?" Mahendra asked.

"Before that, I want to ask, who exactly are you?"

"If I tell you, will you... ah, forget it. I'm not sure if you'll believe me anyway." Mahendra looked resigned.

"Now the academy, including the kingdom, calls you the Devourer Destiny. A figure long awaited by many," revealed Senior Uru.

"That's right. Everyone who is aware sees me that way. They say I can change the order of this world or whatever, but to be honest, I don't believe it."

"It seems your eyes are also a form of anomaly in this world. Perhaps that's why I'm also like them and believe that you are the Devourer Destiny." Senior Uru gave a faint smile, as if hoping for something from him.

"I can't say anything about that, senior. Do whatever you want, but please let me go?"

Mahendra continued to beg to be released.Senior Uru let out a long sigh. He stared at the ground he was standing on, lost in thought for a few moments. It was unclear what Senior Uru was thinking, but his face began to look serious now.

"Fine, I'll let you go."

The tree roots wrapped around his body slowly loosened. Uru looked at his small junior with a happy face, as if he had gained something. He smiled again and this time, he even chuckled a little.

"I will erase my memories of you. If I don't, that seer will know your whereabouts."

His index and middle fingers glowed with a greenish light, and he pointed them at his own forehead. With his eyes closed, he chanted a magic spell. In the middle of the spell, he also took this opportunity to communicate with Mahendra telepathically.

"You may be unpredictable, but just interacting with someone makes you easy to track. For your life's sake, I will erase all my memories of you."

"Senior, why are you doing that for me?"

"Listen to this. After I forget you, leave. Don't let us meet again or I will become your enemy."

"Why, senior?!"

"Go away!"

A single tree root was still wrapped around his waist, and it dragged him away from the forest and the Mageia City.
