Chapter 0:

Why, How, You.

CyberRock!!!

"Throughout the millions of billions of people who have ever lived and who have lived, I constantly ask myself, "Why "am I the one in these situations?" I stand directly in front of a mirror, looking at myself through the clear reflection and seeing my newly shaven face and short black hair. "I can do it, I can do it, I can do it! You can do it, Kent!" It's time. I'll introduce myself. My name is Kent Reeds, born August 18th of 2001, and today is the day I show some promising people yet another invention of mine. "Alright, it's time," I keep telling myself in my head while walking outside of the restroom carrying a briefcase in my left hand. I'm currently at RichardReeds&Reeds Incorporation, where I'll be pitching something that has been in the works for months now.

"I'm already on the 9th floor, I'm wearing my t-shirt and sweatpants, I have the product, and I'm just in time." I once again give myself some reassurance in my head before saying out loud, yet at an appropriate volume, "Let's go."

I open the large double doors, exposing myself to the well-dressed men, their suits all giving off the reading, "We're more important than you'll ever be."

Each of them is seated behind the same large rectangular desk with various papers neatly kept on top of the brown desk; their backs face towards the window, which shows the city below them. They are quite literally above the average person. I can't help but somewhat envy them.

"Well, we have a tight schedule. Mr. Kent, show us the suit already," the man seated in the middle said while looking directly at me. "We don't have all day."

With that said, I quickly put down the briefcase and take out what I call the Adam-Suit. "Alright, allow me to demonstrate." The Adam-Suit, visually speaking, is all black since this is only for purposes of showing off to these guys. It's in two pieces: the torso, which is an extra-large long-sleeve shirt, is made out of a plastic-like newly discovered material. The same can be said for the leg portion of the suit; it goes from waist to ankles and is loose like the shirt.

I put on the two pieces of the suit, which hang loosely on my body, and look at the fossil—I mean men whose attention is now diverted at me. I then take out a remote, which has 3 buttons on it, from the briefcase. The remote has two thin wires, which are connected to both the torso and leg portions of the suit, and claim, "The purpose of this suit is to create a one-size-fits-all material to eliminate the need for "size."

I then press the button; suddenly the suit adjusts to the size of my body and tightens around my body. I jerk forward a bit due to how aggressive it is.

"Right now this is but a prototype! With the right funding, problems like the button and other minor problems you might've seen can be fixed!" I say while looking at all 5 of the men.

They start to take notes while discussing god knows what, then the man second to the rightmost side gives me a grin and then says, "Mr....Kent, was it? We have some questions."

Then it begins, "Can we attach weapons to it?" One said, "What about armor? How can it be used for offensive capabilities?" Questions like this last around 15 minutes before one of the men says, "Why? Why would anyone buy this? There is no easy and cheap way to gather this material, so I hope you are aware of who our target market will be if we sign you on""

"Oh, and the weight issue is due to that feature you wanted me to add, you know, the—"

"We want more results beyond that if we do fund you. Now then, we're done here," says the man in the middle. "If we have further news on your funding, we'll send you an email."

"Of course. I understand." I say before leaving the room back in my normal clothes. I get it, I really do, but I just hoped for something more, I guess. It's not like I'm unsuccessful, but the people I have to work with are always like this.

Walking out of the office, my cell phone vibrates in my pocket, probably another contractor. I did call a lot of people about this suit after all, so I take my phone out of my pocket and answer while walking towards the elevator.

"Hello, this is Ke—" Before I can finish my sentence, a robotic voice speaks from the phone.

"Why? Why? Why?" it exclaims while I enter the elevator.

I'm assuming I'm just hearing things and state, "Hello? Hello, this is Kent. Who is this?"

"How? How? How? You?" Then suddenly the elevator around me shakes; it's falling.

My phone continues exclaiming, "How, why, you?" I then scream, "What's going on here!? Damn it!" Then, just as I felt like I would splat on the floor below me, the ground below me disappeared, and I began falling into a white void.

Despite falling into nothing, I clutch onto my phone and briefcase like either of those things would stop me from falling, but of course I continue falling before yelling:

"WHY!? HOW!? WHAT'S GOING ON!?" The void below me begins slowly turning into something.

It's land, but since I'm not only far, far above it and currently falling to my death, I can't really describe it. "Ok, ok, ok, ok, crap, shit!" What I'm currently looking at is clouds from the wrong side out; while flipping my phone several dozen times, it still repeats itself, "Why? How? You? Why? How? You?" Then it starts repeating something new.

"Suit. Suit. Suit. Suit." That robotic voice ringing inside my ear now, I understand at least one thing: whether it was because it was the only thing that made sense or because the name was ringing in my ear, I realized I had to put on the suit.

Unfortunately, that's the only thing I can think of. I would open the briefcase, but this is when I notice three things: My phone is gone, the briefcase is gone, and the suit is on me. Once I realize that, something else starts ringing in my ear.

"Button. Button. Button. Button."

Right! One of the functions of the suit and one of the main causes of the weight issue, I locate the button; luckily the wires are still attached to the suit. Frantically, while still falling, I attempt to keep a grip on the remote while getting in a free-falling position.

"Please work, please work." I tell myself over and over again; I get in a free fall position and press the middle button on the remote, then

WOOSH, the parachute function from the suit activated, and with that I'm flung more into the air. Furthermore  the voice, which I'm forced to assume was in my head, disappeared, and now I'm faced with a clear view of what I was falling into.

I don't know what this is; it's clearly a nation of some sort, but it's clearly separated into two portions. North of my view I see a metallic area that goes as far as the eye can see, steam rising from the sky, and what appears to be something flying in the air above multiple points; if I had to say, it takes up a bit more than half of the south side.

The south side and also the side that is directly below me look like they belong in an entirely different timeline. There are structures made out of brick and several giant castles, but before I can admire the view more...

"Danger, something is coming towards me and fast; it's flying towards me. I can't make out what it is, but it's clearly dangerous, and there isn't a single thing I can do about it.

"Why? How?"
