Chapter 12:
The Noble Demon King
Tina Priestley had a dream.
She dreamed that she was suddenly chosen to be a Hero, and her sword-fighting teacher personally led a large army to hunt her down, finally cornering her at the edge of a cliff.
At that time, she was already exhausted; dealing with that battle-hardened warrior was already extremely difficult, and her subordinates, who had been protecting her from behind, suddenly stabbed her in the back, causing her to fall helplessly from the cliff…
“…It wasn’t a dream.”
Tina opened her eyes, and the intense pain emanating from all over her body made her realize that the desperate experience was not just a fantasy.
The surroundings looked like a wealthy person’s residence, meticulously furnished, but without many valuable decorations.
“Where…is this? Am I not dead…ugh!”
She propped herself up on the bed board, trying to sit up, but she pulled at the wound on her waist and abdomen, causing cold sweat to break out instantly.
“Don’t move! Your wound will reopen!”
Another voice came from the doorway. Tina turned her head with difficulty and saw a young man in a long robe standing at the entrance, holding a tray.
The man walked over quickly, put the tray aside, and then sat down by the bed…Tina noticed that there were towels, gauze, and powdered herbs on it.
She looked down at her wound.
“Did you…save me?”
“I saw you floating down from upstream; I thought you were already dead at the time.”
The speaker was, of course, Caelan.
He was about to give Stone a bath when he saw this woman floating in the river. He immediately told Stone to go into the water and carry her ashore.
After discovering she was still breathing, he performed first aid and bandaged her.
Who would have thought that what he learned in first aid class in his previous life would come in handy here…and even save a life.
“Thank you very much…”
Tina nodded slightly.
“My name is Tina, Tina Priestley.”
“I am Caelan.”
Caelan smiled.
Having been here for so long, Tina was the only person he had met besides the Previous Demon King with whom he could communicate, which made him very happy.
Not to mention, Tina’s appearance was also exceptionally good.
She was not the traditional type with big eyes and a pointed chin; if Caelan had to describe her, it would be exquisite.
All her features were just right, with a hint of heroism.
When Caelan was performing first aid on her, he also noticed the calluses on her palms, which clearly belonged not to a young lady, but to a warrior.
But no matter what, seeing a beautiful young woman here was quite invigorating.
However, from her appearance, Tina should be a human…so he couldn’t reveal his identity.
Although he didn’t know why she drifted here, the Order Alliance and the Chaos races had been incompatible for thousands of years.
At the same time, Tina looked at the man in front of her, thinking to herself: “The Hero is a sinner of the Order Alliance. Although this was not my intention, it’s better not to expose it…”
“…I can’t tell him I’m a Hero.”
“…I can’t tell her I’m a Demon King.”
The two simultaneously forced out a smile, nodding at each other inexplicably.
“Oh, right, I’m here to change your dressing…”
Caelan suddenly remembered something and looked at the young woman in front of him with some embarrassment.
“The situation was urgent back then…you understand, right?”
Upon hearing this, Tina seemed to recall something, and her cheeks flushed slightly.
“It’s fine…thank you very much for your help.”
…
Tina’s recovery ability was quite strong; after lying in bed for a day, she could get up and walk on the second day.
When he saved her, she looked like she could die at any moment.
Caelan could only attribute this to the fact that people in this world generally had better physiques.
After all, he hadn’t met anyone else.
By the third day, Tina had basically recovered, and Caelan couldn’t keep her confined to the room forever.
Moreover, Caelan had some other plans.
“Cough, cough…”
Caelan knocked on her room door, and after hearing a response from inside, he pushed the door open.
He saw Tina standing in front of the mirror, adjusting her clothes.
She had already put on the set of armor she was wearing when she floated in the river, and Caelan didn’t recognize the emblem on the armor.
Her long black hair was tied back simply and neatly, and the sunlight streaming in from the window outlined her entire figure, making her glow.
Seeing Caelan enter, Tina also turned to look at him and smiled.
“Good morning, Caelan.”
“Good morning.”
Caelan replied, then continued.
“It’s like this, here…there are some things I need to tell you. I’m currently staying here temporarily; the true owner of this castle is in the main hall, but he doesn’t like to see people, so you absolutely must not go to the main hall.”
“And then, as for the other…things living here besides me, they are harmless, no need to worry.”
In Tina’s room, Caelan once again emphasized to her that she shouldn’t wander around in this castle.
Otherwise, getting lost would be a minor issue; she might encounter all sorts of strange things.
“Other people?”
Tina was a little confused.
She hadn’t left her room even once yet, and she wasn’t really sure where she was, only having looked outside through the window, which suggested her location was a castle, deep in the mountains.
But over the past two days, she hadn’t heard any other voices.
Caelan scratched his chin, then walked out the door and turned back to motion to Tina.
“In short…can you walk? If you can, follow me.”
