Chapter 25

Se-le-ni

It was the worst travel I had ever been through. It all started as usual, and midway, we were unexpectedly jerked to the side and began to tumble. I opened my eyes, and the weave whirled around me, too fast for me to understand what it looked like. I thought I heard someone scream, and then suddenly, I felt solid ground underneath my feet, and I skidded and fell.

The world became a whirlwind until I finally came to a halt. I must have closed my eyes, because I opened them again and looked around. Bo-lo-to.

He stood before us, grinning, as he’d always done on the eve of a battle. I looked around, and I could see the others having tumbled in different directions and now tried to find their ground.

“So you came, I’m happy”, he smirked.

“Did you bring us here?”

I struggled to stand, only to lose my balance again and fall to the ground.

“You are so easy”, he said as he walked towards me.

I tried to get up, but something held me down, and I collapsed.

“There’s no point in trying. You know, at first, I’d thought I’d simply bring you here, and we could battle it out, as in the good old days. But then, why would I? This war might go on for a long while, and if I can finish it and finally reunite with the Masters, so much better.”

“How dare you go against the teachings of the Seed?”, Ka-ma-la cried from behind him.

He turned around.

“Oh, Mother, it’s an easy thing to do when you understand the Truth. Did the Seed save us last time? No, she did not. Had she done so, the Masters wouldn’t have found their way back. Better to see the truth of the matter and join the winning side.”

“Your mother would be ashamed of you”, Joshua gasped.

“Oh, you do not bring my mother into this. She would have left you a long time ago had she seen the truth. But no, she decided to stay with you, no matter how I pleaded. It’s over now, and she is at peace.”

I watched him talking, seemingly having forgotten about me. The magic he had woven into the room began to shimmer, and suddenly I could see the threads holding us down. What had he done?
